  • the number of times a couchtop extension has been connected is valuable information to take into account when determining the servicing of the couchtop extension.
  • the loading information comprises a counter indicating the number of times the couchtop extension has been used to support a patient.
  • the identification means enable the couchtop base station to identify the couchtop extension connected to the base station such that the couchtop base station can update the counter by one for the identified couchtop extension upon the load determination unit determining that the couchtop extension has been loaded.
