Definitions
- the invention relates to a semi-finished product for hot forming, which is a tailor-welded blank, a tailor-rolled blank or a patchwork blank, the semi-finished product having a first or more first sections with a first thickness and at least one second or more second sections with a second thickness, the first thickness being less than the second thickness, the semi-finished product comprising, at least in the section of the second thickness, a steel sheet coated with an aluminum-based coating.
- hot-dip aluminum coatings are now generally used as coatings, see also, for example, EP 2 086 755 Bl and EP 2 242 863 Bl.
- FAL hot-dip aluminum coatings
- the preceding annealing process provides effective scale protection and thus ensures the further processing of the press-hardened component without the need for a further process step to remove scale deposits.
- metallurgical transformations of the FAL layer occur as the annealing time increases. Since the typical process temperatures during hot forming are around 900°C, well above the melting temperature of the FAL layer, the coating melts. However, this effect is mitigated by the fact that iron diffusing from the substrate significantly increases the melting point of the coating. If the annealing process is completed successfully, a multi-layer structure is usually formed, which has a good range of properties during subsequent pressing and subsequent further processing.
- a sufficiently long annealing period before press hardening is technically essential. Furnace capacities and energy resources must be used for this annealing. For example, for a FAL-coated 22MnB5 sheet with a thickness of 1.5 mm, an annealing time of approx. 4 to 5 minutes at temperatures slightly above 900 ° C is typically required. This annealing period is made up of two temporal phases: First, some time passes in the oven until the previously cold sheet material has reached the desired target temperature. The second phase then consists of keeping the blank at the target temperature - until the layer has undergone the transformations described above. The first phase (heating up) is particularly special This is important because as long as the material is not yet at the target temperature, the diffusion processes involved in the conversion are also significantly slower.
- a tailor-welded blank usually consists of at least two sheets/(shaped) blanks welded together in a butt joint, the sheets preferably having different thicknesses, whereby they can consist of additional or alternatively different materials.
- a tailor-welded blank can also consist of at least two sheets/(form) blanks welded together in an overlap joint.
- a patch-work blank usually consists of a base plate, which is locally reinforced on its surface by connecting (welding) with at least one or more additional plates, which are smaller in size than the base plate.
- a tailor-rolled blank is usually a one-piece sheet of metal that has different thicknesses, produced by what is known to experts as “flexible rolling”.
- the semi-finished products in question are known to experts. Components can be produced from the semi-finished products using cold or hot forming.
- the annealing process of hardenable steels is time- and energy-intensive. Reducing heating times opens up great potential for cost reduction. This can be achieved, for example, through shorter cycle times and/or reduced process technology, such as shorter heating furnaces or capacity expansions, for example using larger sheet thicknesses with the same parameters and furnace distance. As the thickness increases, longer lying times are necessary in order to allow the phases already described above to take place completely.
- the annealing process and the associated waiting time always depend on the largest thickness of the semi-finished product, which inevitably leads to an undesirably high or increased cycle time. It would therefore be desirable to enable more efficient processing of semi-finished products with different thicknesses on existing systems with specified cycle times.
- Different sheet thicknesses and/or support weights of the (individual) semi-finished products can in particular also lead to different process windows in the annealing process.
- the task is therefore to provide a semi-finished product with different thicknesses for hot forming, with which no disadvantageous increase in cycle time is required during the annealing process.
- the invention relates to a semi-finished product for hot forming, which is a tailor-welded blank, a tailor-rolled blank or a patchwork blank, the semi-finished product having a first or more first sections with a first thickness and at least one second or more second sections with a second thickness, the first thickness being less than the second thickness, the semi-finished product comprising a steel sheet coated with an aluminum-based coating at least in the section of the second thickness, the semi-finished product having a deterministic coating on the aluminum-based coating at least in the section of the second thickness trained surface structure.
- the inventors have surprisingly found that a defined structuring of the surface with a deterministically designed surface structure on the aluminum-based coating can have a positive influence on the heating behavior by promoting heating during the annealing process and thereby heating the semi-finished product faster in the second thickness section can be heated.
- the cycle time is therefore no longer necessarily dependent on the largest thickness for a semi-finished product with different thicknesses, so that a semi-finished product with different thicknesses can be made available for hot forming, with which semi-finished products with different thicknesses can be processed more efficiently on existing systems with specified Cycle times are possible.
- At least the section of the second thickness of the semi-finished product, which has the aluminum-based coating with the deterministically designed surface structure, is directly exposed or facing the furnace atmosphere during the annealing process.
- the second thickness is either One-sided or both-sided with a deterministic surface structure on the aluminum-based coating.
- the inventors discovered the following connection. Assuming that when heating in an oven with a homogeneous heat distribution, the heat flow after entering the oven is homogeneously distributed over the entire surface of the semi-finished product and that there is essentially a heat transfer through thermal radiation, whereby edge effects have been neglected and where only the influence of the texture on the Heating rate has been considered.
- the effective heating rates whereby temperatures are measured, for example, using thermocouples within a recorded period of time, in [K/s] or [°C/s] can be divided into three zones, each of which is accompanied by a sharp drop in the heating rate:
- Zone 1 Heating rate approx. 0.02 and higher up to approx. 570°C;
- Zone 2 reduced heating rate with different progressions between 570°C and
- Zone 3 rapidly increasing heating rate > 740°C
- the heating rate drops significantly and again exhibits a plateau-shaped course up to a temperature of approximately 740°C.
- the phase diagram for Al and Si which is usually present in between 3 and 15% by weight in the aluminum-based coating, shows, on the other hand, exactly in the transition from zone 1 to zone 2 between the phases AI and Si and Liquid+a.
- the reduction in the heating rate can therefore be explained by the enthalpy of fusion of the systems AI and Si. Melting point of AS at approx. 580°C. Between 730°C and 750°C the heating rates drop to a value of around 0.01 and then increase significantly to values above 0.05 when the temperature increases further. This is where A ci of the steel material used lies.
- the ternary system AI, Si and Fe is present in the coating, the Fe content of which decreases towards the surface. This is due to the diffusion of Fe into the Al and Si layers.
- the enthalpy of fusion of the ternary system only contributes to a limited extent to the observed drop in the heating rate during the transition from zone 2 to zone 3 and in the further course of zone 3.
- the main influence on the heating rate lies in the phase transformation from ferritic to austenitic iron. This results in a significant drop in the heating rate.
- the proportion of austenite increases, meaning less and less heat is required for the phase transition. Therefore, the heating rate increases accordingly.
- the surface structure has an influence on the heating rate.
- the semi-finished product comprises at least two steel sheets of different thicknesses welded together in a butt joint or an overlap joint, one of the steel sheets forming a section of the semi-finished product with a second thickness and being coated with an aluminum-based coating.
- the further steel sheet forms a section of the semi-finished product with a first thickness and can preferably also be coated with an aluminum-based coating.
- the semi-finished product comprises a substantially flexibly rolled steel sheet with an aluminum-based coating, the semi-finished product having a first or more first sections with a first thickness and at least one second or more second sections with a second thickness having.
- the semi-finished product comprises a base sheet made of steel, which is locally reinforced on its surface by connecting (welding) with at least one or more additional steel sheets, which are (are) smaller in size than the base plate.
- the additional steel sheet(s) for reinforcement are provided with an aluminum-based coating and, when connected to the base sheet, form the section with the second thickness of the semi-finished product.
- the base sheet forms the section with the first thickness of the semi-finished product (with the exception of the section or sections in which the additional steel sheets are connected to the base sheet), wherein the base sheet can preferably also consist of a steel sheet coated with an aluminum-based coating.
- Sheet steel refers to a flat steel product as a strip, sheet or blank.
- the steel sheet has a longitudinal extent (length), a transverse extent (width) and a height extent (thickness).
- the thickness of the steel sheet can, for example, be between 0.50 and 6.0 mm, in particular 0.60 to 5.0 mm, preferably 0.70 to 4.0 mm.
- the steel sheet can be hot or cold rolled.
- the aluminum-based coating is conventionally applied via a hot-dip route.
- a deterministic surface structure is introduced in the course of a skin pass on the surface of the steel sheet coated with an aluminum-based coating as a negative impression by applying force with a positive impression on the skin pass roller with a defined texture, with a valley area on the surface of the coating being a mountain area on the surface of the roller corresponds.
- Deterministic surface structure means recurring surface structures that have a defined shape and/or design, see EP 2 892 663 B1 and WO 2020/130401 A1. In particular, this also includes surfaces with a (guasi-) stochastic appearance, which are, however, applied using a deterministic texturing process and are therefore composed of deterministic form elements.
- the surface structure which is deterministically formed at least in the section of the second thickness of the semi-finished product on the aluminum-based coating, is essentially directly exposed or facing the furnace atmosphere in the annealing process.
- the semi-finished product designed as a patchwork blank in the section of the second thickness on the shielded side of the steel sheet provided for the reinforcement can have a surface structure that is stochastic or has a different type of deterministic surface structure compared to the side directly facing the furnace atmosphere.
- the deterministic surface structure has an average roughness Ra between 1.0 and 6.0 pm.
- the average roughness Ra can be at least 1.30 pm, preferably at least 1.50 pm, preferably at least 1.70 pm.
- the roughness Ra can be a maximum of 5.0 pm, preferably a maximum of 4.0 pm, preferably a maximum of 3.0 pm.
- the deterministic surface structure has a peak number RPc between 100 and 250 1/cm.
- the peak number RPc can be at least 110 1/cm, preferably at least 130 1/cm.
- the peak number RPc can be a maximum of 220 1/cm, preferably a maximum of 200 1/cm, preferably a maximum of 180 1/cm.
- the average roughness Ra in pm and the peak number RPc in 1/cm can be determined along a defined measuring section, see DIN EN ISO 4287.
- the deterministic surface structure has a structure depth Rz between 4.0 and 25.0 pm, in particular between 5.0 and 22.0 pm, preferably between 6 and 18.0 pm, preferably a maximum of 15 pm.

Description
• Zone 1: Aufheizrate ca. 0,02 und höher bis ca. 570°C;
740°C
• Zone 3: stark ansteigende Aufheizrate > 740°C

Figur lc).
