Definitions

  • the invention relates to pulp and paper production and can be used in the production of paper, cardboard and other non-woven paper-like materials with intra-mass sizing with a starch binder.
  • the described method is a development of the technology for producing starch binders and is based on a previously developed method for producing a binder for surface sizing of paper RU 2627373.
  • the objective of the present invention is to create a simple method for producing a cationic starch binder for intra-mass sizing by simultaneous oxidation and cationization of natural starch in a continuous or batch mode, providing high productivity of the process and the ability to quickly regulate the concentration, viscosity and cationic charge of the target product.
  • the problem is solved by simultaneous processing of natural starch with a solution of ammonium or sodium persulfate, as well as a solution of a cationic polyelectrolyte based on copolymers of acrylamide and a cationic comonomer based on acrylic acid or acrylamide (for example, dimethylamino-propylacrylamide) at elevated temperature to obtain a binder with a given concentration and viscosity and cationic charge.
  • the processing process is carried out in a digester by simultaneously feeding starch of natural moisture, a solution of persulfuric acid salt with a flow rate of 0.2-2.5% by weight of absolutely dry starch, a solution of cationic polyelectrolyte with a flow rate of 1.5-5.0% by weight
