Description

DESCRIPTION
LPG Gas Cartridge Limiter device
Present Invention refers to an LPG leakage limitation device at gas cartridges
Present literature and technique include various systems for limiting the gas flow at LPG gas cartridges in case the cartridge is removed.
Such devices include bulky objects (metallic or plastic) of large dimensions, having complex mechanisms and schemes to create the required restore force inside the cartridge to limit the gas leakage
These devises are either placed on the bottom of the cartridge, so they are voluminous and relatively rigid or have intricate shapes with notches or radius in order to achieve the required force.
There are also smaller ones (mainly metallic) which are held in the upper part of the cartridge using glue or welding having the risk to detach and fall if the welding is not done correctly.
Present invention aims to solve the above disadvantages because it has a suitable shape (arched lattice) which allows it to move using the retracting force without requiring an abundance of material and large size.
The advantage of this invention is that it can be placed requiring much smaller interventions in the cartridge in terms of containment infrastructure which may be reduce the walls strength.
In addition, the use of a smaller amount of material reduces the construction cost and protects the environment at the same time since the gas cartridge is most of the time non refillable and is discarded after use.
The purpose of present invention is to limit the escape of gas under pressure m a LPG cartridge when it is attached to the gas appliance.
LPG appliances must pierce the cartridge when placed in them. For this purpose, they have a puncture pin.
To better understand this invention, an implementation way is described below by means of an example and with reference to the drawings where:
Drawing (1) is a perspective view of the device consisting of the arched lattice (1) and the rubber sealing disc (2)
Drawing (2) is a cross section of the inside of the cartridge indicating the cartridge without attached to an appliance (position 4), while position (5) shows the cartridge attached to an appliance.
Points (6) corresponds to the bearing points of the device. The device consists of two parts. One is arched lattice made of suitable plastic (1) while the other part is a rubber sealing disc (2).
Part (2) is placed on the special slots of part (I) (points 3).
When a device is not attached to the cartridge (4) the device seals the gap for the flow of gas and prevents its leakage from the cartridge.
This is achieved by the forces that develop in it due to its shape (arched lattice).
Since the device rests firmly on the existing points on either side of the walls of the cartridge (6), developing forces drive the device upwards and keep it in its post (4).
When an appliance is attached to the cartridge, it pushes the device down (5) through the piercing pin available (7).
Since power of the piercing pin of the appliance is greater of the holding forces of the device in position (4) the device is moved to the position (5).
This movement creates usable space inside the cartridge resulting in the flow of gas under pressure through the piercing pin (7).
Moving the device from position (4) to position (5) is allowed due to its elasticity from the construction material, while at the same time this movement creates vertical forces which return the device to position (4) when the cartridge is removed from the appliance and the piercing pin ceases to act on the device, (drawing (2)).
