Description

A SYSTEM FOR DETECTING SPAMS
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a system for detecting and blocking spams by using the directory information of the electronic device of the target client who receives the message in instant messaging applications whereby users can communicate with each other.
Background of the Invention
Today, the number of applications which are run on smart phones and the time spent by applications increase with advancement of technology. Instant messaging applications are the leading applications which are run on smart phones and frequently preferred by users, a plurality of users can communicate by sending messages with text, voice, image content to each other over instant messaging applications. As is the case with all communication platforms, users may encounter messages with unrequested, inappropriate or advertising content in instant messaging applications as well. In instant messaging applications, users who send unrequested and inappropriate content also affect the users’ instant messaging experiences negatively. Therefore, today there is need for solutions which enables to detect and block messages -namely spams- by analysing whether mails sent by a sender to other users is included in the recipients directory or not.
The United States patent document no. US10805314B2, an application in the state of the art, discloses a system for examining the content of an e-mail sent and blocking spams. In one embodiment of the said invention, there are electronic message types such as e-mail, instant message as an example of message types. In some embodiments of the present invention, messages to be sent to a recipient are processed by the system. In the event that similarity is provided by comparing the sender ID with the trusted contact IDs in the present invention, attacks may be detected. In the present invention, in the event that the sender’s e-mail address matches the trusted contacts, the message is determined to be safe and filtered; however in the event that the e-mail address shows similarity but does not match the trusted contacts, a potential attach is predicted and subjected to filtering. The filtering transactions may include steps such as blocking the message, quarantining the message, examining the message, and inserting a warning into the message. In the said invention, it is possible to perform a risk assessment of the message sender periodically. In one alternative embodiment of the said invention, instead of quarantining the message to be sent to the recipient, the message can be sent to the recipient by changing the message content. A warning message can be inserted into the message or its header. In one embodiment of the invention, part of a received message can be changed, removed or it can be censored by changes such as removing attachments, removing links.
The United States patent document no. US9633203B2, another application in the state of the art, discloses a system for evaluating messages -which comply with certain conditions- as spam and blocking the device sending the message. In one embodiment of the said invention, identifying an incoming message as spam and blocking the messages to be received can be performed by a recipient device. In some embodiments of the invention, the user device is a mobile device and the message type may include SMS, MMS, e-mail, instant message and the like. In one embodiment of the said invention, the contact list of the user device may include information such as contact names, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses. The contact list may include communication history of the device. It is possible to determine whether the device sending the message is saved in the contact list in the recipient device. In the said invention, the user device may provide blacklist information to the messaging center device. In the said invention, the messaging center device can store the messages received from the sending device and prevents message transmission by using blacklist information.
Summary of the Invention
An objective of the present invention is to realize a system for detecting and blocking spams by using the directory information of the target client in instant messaging applications whereby persons can communicate with each other.
Another objective of the present invention is to realize a system for performing controls without requiring the directory information of the target client -which receives the message- to be issued from the device.
Another objective of the present invention is to realize a system for quarantining the sender client number by detecting that the sender client -who realized message sending in an instant messaging application- has realized transfer to target clients who are not included in his/her directory list over a certain threshold value.
Another objective of the present invention is to realize a system for terminating the transmission of inappropriate, unrequested spams in a short time without requiring client interaction.
