Definitions
- the present invention disperses carbonaceous fillers in polyols, which are raw materials for resins such as polyurethane or intermediates for resins, without impairing the properties such as electrical properties and coloring properties possessed by carbonaceous fillers, and without using dispersants. It relates to a polyol dispersion liquid formed by.
- Polyols in the present invention are polyhydric alcohols that serve as raw materials or intermediates for resins, and raw materials or intermediates for phenol resins, urea resins, melamine resins, modified unsaturated polyester resins, alkyd resins, and epoxy resins in addition to polyurethanes.
- Polyurethane is a reaction product of polyols and polyisocyanates. It has excellent moldability, various forms, and a wide range of mechanical properties. It is used for gravure ink, synthetic leather, elastomers, paints, adhesives, and coatings. It is widely used as a cushioning material.
- polyurethane has disadvantages such as being easily decomposed by light, heat, etc., and being easily charged.
- the present inventors have found a carbonaceous filler that exhibits good dispersibility in polyols without chemically changing the surface or using a dispersant, which may impair the original properties of the carbonaceous filler.
- the purpose can be achieved by blending a specific carbonaceous filler with polyols, and have completed the present invention.
- the present invention provides a carbonaceous filler-containing polyols dispersion obtained by blending a carbonaceous filler with polyols. Furthermore, the present invention provides a thermosetting resin in which a carbonaceous filler is dispersed. Further, the present invention provides a polyurethane having a carbonaceous filler dispersed therein.
- the carbonaceous filler may have a component content (dry basis weight) of 80% or more fixed carbon content, less than 8% volatile content, and less than 4% ash content as defined in JIS-M 8812:2004.
- the carbonaceous filler may have 0.005 mmol/m 2 or more of phenolic hydroxy groups per external specific surface area.
- the carbonaceous filler may be a carbonaceous material having an average particle size (D50) of 0.1-100 ⁇ m.
- the carboxyl group per external specific surface area of the carbonaceous filler may be 0.001 mmol/m 2 or less.
- the true specific gravity of the carbonaceous filler may be 1.5 or less.
- the carbonaceous filler may be dispersed in polyols without using a dispersant.
- the carbonaceous filler may be a carbonaceous material selected from biocarbons.
- the carbonaceous filler may be a biomaterial mainly composed of lignin/cellulose/hemicellulose or a carbonaceous material obtained by carbonizing low-carbonized lignite at 1000° C. or lower.
- the carbonaceous filler may carry carbon black on the carbonaceous material.
- 1 to 80 parts by weight of the carbonaceous filler may be contained with respect to 100 parts by weight of the polyols.
- the present invention may further provide a polyurethane obtained by reacting the above polyols dispersion with polyisocyanates.
- the present invention may further provide a thermosetting resin obtained by reacting the above polyol dispersion as a raw material.
- the polyol dispersion is selected from the group consisting of polyester polyols, polyether polyols, polycarbonate polyols, polymer polyols, modified products or mixtures thereof, or prepolymers obtained by partially polymerizing them. It may be a polyurethane mixed with one or more polyols and reacted with polyisocyanates.
- the present invention uses the above polyol dispersion as a phenol resin, modified products thereof and intermediates thereof, intermediates of urea resins and melamine resins, intermediates of modified unsaturated polyester resins, raw materials of alkyd resins and bisphenols as raw materials of epoxy resins. It may be an A-type prepolymer or a urethane prepolymer.
- the carbonaceous filler-containing polyols dispersion exhibits good dispersibility in polyols because the carbonaceous filler contains a large number of phenolic hydroxyl groups in the surface functional groups.
- a large amount of carbonaceous filler can be easily blended without using a dispersant, and expectations are high for carbonaceous fillers such as mechanical properties, weather resistance, antistatic properties, colorability, and conductivity as thermosetting resins such as polyurethane. It is possible to express various characteristics to be more strongly.
- the carbonaceous filler-containing polyols dispersion of the present invention can be handled in the same manner as single polyols without any special improvement in the process, can be diluted without limitation and used, and contains carbonaceous fillers. It is suitably used as a raw material for thermosetting resins, particularly as a raw material for carbonaceous filler-containing polyurethane.
- the carbonaceous filler has a component content (anhydrous basis) with a fixed carbon content of 80% or more, a volatile content of less than 8%, and an ash content of less than 4% by industrial analysis, It is a carbon-based material having a phenolic hydroxy group (Ph OH) per external specific surface area of 0.005 mmol/m 2 or more and an average particle size (D50) of 0.1 to 100 ⁇ m.
- the carbonaceous filler is a carbonaceous material that satisfies the physical properties described above. That is, in the present invention, the carbonaceous filler may be one that does not support carbon black or one that supports carbon black.
- the carbon-based particles used as the carbonaceous filler in the present invention have a six-membered carbon ring structure that has developed to some extent in its chemical structure, and the hydroxy group, which has a high affinity for polyols, is directly bonded to the six-membered carbon ring. is valid. This is completely different from the technology in which the carboxyl group (COOH) is effective as a surface property for dispersing in water.
- the external surface area herein In the book, the abundance (mmol/m 2 ) of phenolic hydroxy groups (Ph-type OH) per surface area is referred to as “external specific surface area”.
- the amount of functional groups per external specific surface area is an index showing the amount of functional groups on the surface of the carbonaceous filler. This index is calculated from the measurement of the total amount of acidic functional groups and the amount of strongly acidic functional groups using the Boehm method of acid-base titration, and the measurement of the external specific surface area STSA.
- it is the phenolic hydroxyl group, not the alkyl hydroxyl group, that is sought by the Boehm method.
- the amount of phenolic hydroxy groups (Ph OH) should be 0.005 mmol/m 2 or more per external specific surface area, and the amount of carboxyl groups (COOH) should be 0.001 mmol/m 2 or less per external specific surface area. is desirable.
- the amount of phenolic hydroxy groups per external specific surface area is preferably 0.010 mmol/m 2 or more. Although the upper limit is not particularly limited from the standpoint of affinity with polyols, it is expected that production will be difficult if it exceeds about 0.10 mmol/m 2 in terms of mass production.
- the external specific surface area (STSA) of the carbonaceous material may be 0.01-100 m 2 /g, preferably 0.1-10 m 2 /g. More desirably, it may be 0.3 to 5 m 2 /g.
- the carbon-based particles used as the carbonaceous filler in the present invention have an average particle diameter (D50) of 0.1 ⁇ m or more and 100 ⁇ m or less, which is a 50% integrated value of volume-based particle diameters measured with a disc centrifugal particle size distribution measuring device. It is preferably 1 ⁇ m or more and 20 ⁇ m or less. When the average particle size (D50) is smaller than this, aggregation tends to occur, and when it is larger than this, uniformity is impaired.
- the average particle size (D50) may be measured, for example, with a CPS Instruments disc centrifugal particle size distribution analyzer, Model DC24000UHR.
- the carbon-based particles used as the carbonaceous filler should have a dry weight of 80% or more fixed carbon and 8% volatile content as defined by JIS-M 8812: 2004 in terms of industrial analysis in order to fully demonstrate the performance as a filler. It is desirable to be less than The ash content is desirably less than 4% because it does not contribute to performance as a filler. A material with a volatile content of 8% or more cannot be applied because the six-membered carbon ring is underdeveloped and there are many hydrocarbon (CH) moieties that do not exhibit properties as a carbonaceous filler. It is preferably 85% or more fixed carbon, more preferably 90% or more fixed carbon. Considering dispersion in polyols, the true specific gravity is preferably 1.50 or less because the closer it is to the specific gravity of polyols (about 1.00 to 1.30), the better the long-term dispersion stability.
- carbonaceous materials can be used as the carbonaceous filler in the present invention as long as it has the properties described above.
- it is selected from charcoal, graphite, graphene, Biochar or coal.
- Biocarbon is a carbonaceous material obtained by carbonizing organic matter (biomass) such as agricultural and forestry waste, waste wood, and food waste.

- Carbon black having an average particle diameter (arithmetic mean diameter by microscopic observation) of preferably 0.01 to 0.3 ⁇ m (10 to 300 nm) is used. In the measurement using an electron microscope, the diameter may be measured by irradiating a circular spotlight capable of changing the circular diameter onto the peripheral portion of the particle in the image measured by the electron microscope.
- the number of particles to be measured is 500 or more, preferably 1000 or more, so that multiple images are selected and measured. good.
- Carbon black having a primary particle size of less than 0.01 ⁇ m is difficult to support due to the large cohesive force acting between particles. becomes difficult. It is more preferably 0.015 to 0.20 ⁇ m (15 to 200 nm).
- Other physical properties are also not particularly limited, but for example, nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N 2 SA) 10 to 200 m 2 /g, DBP absorption 20 to 200 mL/100 g, volatile content less than 10%, ash content less than 1.0% is.
- the ratio of carbon black to be supported is preferably 1 part by weight or more and 200 parts by weight or less, more preferably 1 part by weight or more and 100 parts by weight, with respect to 100 parts by weight of the carbonaceous material as a support.
- it is more preferably in the range of 1 part by weight or more and 50 parts by weight or less. If the content of carbon black is less than this, the effect of adding carbon black will be insufficient. On the other hand, if it exceeds this range, it becomes difficult to carry, and there is a concern that unsupported carbon black may cause poor dispersion.
- Whether or not carbon black is supported on the carbonaceous filler can be easily visually confirmed by, for example, whether or not the carbon black precipitates or aggregates in the polyol liquid when the carbonaceous filler is dispersed in the polyol liquid. can.
- the carbon black is supported by mechanically contacting the carbonaceous material as a support with the carbon black.
- carbon-based particles in which six-membered carbon rings are developed are brought into contact with each other, strong irreversible bonds are formed between the particles.

- the carbonaceous filler-containing polyol dispersion of the present invention can be obtained by mixing a carbonaceous filler with a polyol in an arbitrary ratio.
- the content of carbonaceous filler is preferably in the range of 1 to 80% by weight, more preferably in the range of 5 to 70% by weight. If it is less than this, it may be diluted when mixed with the polyols and isocyanates of the polyurethane raw material, and the content of the carbonaceous filler and carbon black may further decrease, making it difficult to develop the properties of the carbonaceous filler and carbon black. be. On the other hand, if this is exceeded, uniform mixing becomes difficult and may not be practical.
- Phenol resins, urea resins, melamine resins, modified unsaturated polyester resins, alkyd resins and epoxy resins are also diluted by mixing with other raw materials. It is preferably blended in the range of 5 to 70% by weight.

Abstract
