Description
DIGITAL WASTE COLLECTION SYSTEM TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to a web- and mobile application-based system enabling companies or municipalities that undertake waste collection operations, especially collection of recyclable waste, to track waste collection vehicles and the drivers, to determine the most convenient route for the drivers in order to carry out the waste collection in the most efficient way, to check the waste points, to inform the citizens and involve them in the system, and to store and report all generated data.
BACKGROUND ART
Due to the ever-growing city life and increasingly crowded cities, garbage and waste collection operations today require considerable effort, human resources, and time. Still, the desired efficiency cannot be achieved in garbage and waste collection operations, and especially recyclable waste cannot be processed adequately.
There are some available smart waste collection systems. These systems are mostly utilized to optimize the collection operations for garbage that goes to wild dumps. These systems employ sensors that can measure the occupancy rate of the garbage bins and perform optimization based on the data obtained from these sensors. The initial investment costs of these systems are quite high due to the costs of the sensors, and because the sensors are placed in garbage bins, breakages and malfunctions occur frequently, which leads to additional maintenance and repair costs. Moreover, these systems, which are used only to detect garbage levels, do not allow involving citizens in the system. Since the routing algorithms of these systems are static, a complete optimization cannot be achieved in collecting operations with too many variables.
Some studies have been conducted in connection with this subject, and in a national patent application no. TR 2014/00782, a system titled “Smart garbage collection system” is mentioned. It is stated that the said disclosure relates to a smart garbage collection system developed to be utilized in the collection of trash in especially provinces, towns, and metropolises, wherein the concerned system measures occupancy rates of garbage containers, maps out a route for garbage collection vehicles based on occupancy measures, reduces costs by ensuring higher efficiency in operations, and is able to run performance analysis. As explained above, this disclosure addresses a system that is used only for garbage collection purposes, does not contribute to the utilization of recyclable waste, does not include citizens in the system, requires high initial investment costs as well as frequent repair and maintenance.
In conclusion, the requirement for the elimination of shortcomings and disadvantages of embodiments and practices existing in the prior art and already being used as of today entails an improvement in the respective technical field.
OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a web- and mobile application-based waste collection system developed for eliminating the aforementioned disadvantages and providing new advantages to the respective technical field.
An objective of the present disclosure is to ensure the development of a structure that is compatible with all kinds of waste, particularly recyclable waste, and enables controlling all collection operations from a single panel.
Another objective of the present disclosure is to ensure the achievement of a structure that contributes to increasing the rate of recyclable waste collection by allowing the inclusion of citizens in the system through incentives.
A further objective of the present disclosure is to ensure the presentation of a structure that neither requires high initial investment costs nor creates huge repair and maintenance costs. Another objective of the present disclosure is to ensure companies and municipalities undertaking collection operations are given the opportunity to generate income from the valuable waste, thanks to the achievement of a structure contributing to increasing the rate of recyclable waste collection. Another objective of the present disclosure is to ensure the achievement of an efficient structure that can fully respond to dynamic and variable situations occurring in the field and provide a complete optimization accordingly, thanks to the active routing algorithm. The structural and characteristic features of the present invention, including all of its advantages, will be more clearly understood when the detailed description given below is read, and thus, the present invention should be evaluated by taking this detailed description into consideration. DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION
The preferred alternatives of the embodiment of the present disclosure, which are mentioned in this detailed description, are only intended for providing a better understanding of the subject matter, and should not be construed in any restrictive sense.
The system of the present invention, in general, comprises minimum one driver platform, minimum one user platform, and minimum one central control platform.
The user platform of the system allows the citizens to register in the system by filling in their details such as telephone numbers, full names, addresses, and the like, to get an appointment from their assigned driver by contacting him/her, to view nearby waste containers and types of such and get directions to reach these waste containers, to earn virtual points in accordance with the type and weight of the waste they collect, to receive gifts by using the said virtual points, to see their historical data and statistics, and to be informed of waste collection days.
Another platform in the system, the driver platform enables the drivers of waste collection vehicles to display their assigned waste collection points and their appointments, to view the shortest route that they should follow throughout the day and that is calculated by the system, to get a new route description in case of an occurrence of an instant appointment, to enter information as to the type and weight of the waste they collect, and to display historical data generated throughout the operation, wherein the said driver platform also allows tracking the drivers from the center.
Another platform in the system, the central control platform allows displaying daily amount of waste collected and the ratio of this amount per flat, carbon emission savings, increase and decrease rates in the amount of waste collected, appointment information such as address, date, waste amount and points awarded, user profile details such as address, telephone number, full name, points, and the like, as well as the amount of waste collected from the relevant profile, the points earned, and the gift purchases performed with these points, wherein the said central control platform also ensures keeping a registry of the waste containers placed in the field for waste accumulation by identifying the said containers with QR code, displaying the containers when needed, centrally tracking the drivers of waste collection vehicles with GPS during working hours and checking if they follow their defined routes, reporting all generated data by use of different filters, and displaying the relevant data comparatively.
