Energy drinks are increasingly being marketed in mass merchandisers and supermarkets. Recognized for their stimulating and energizing effects, these drinks are mainly consumed in large quantities during special events, such as exam period and festive evenings.

Very popular among men, a good number of people, especially young people, are used to consuming this product. However, these drinks that contain caffeine, sugar and other ingredients have a detrimental effect on mental and physical health.

According to doctors, it is teenagers in the age group of 15 to 25 who appreciate this energizing can the most.

The energy drink is a cocktail, which contains high doses of caffeine substances such as guarana, taurine, ginseng, and others, which can seriously cause heart rhythm disorders. Also, it presents another great danger which lies in the regular consumption of this drink which, in the long term, can cause the appearance of diabetes and osteoporosis (pathological reduction of bone mass).

Energy drinks are not recommended for children under 12 and pregnant women. We can also read that it is strictly forbidden to consume this drink with or directly before or directly after alcoholic beverages.

The contents of taurine (0.4 grams) and caffeine (32 milligrams) are also indicated. “Not to exceed one can per day” is what is also recommended on the back of the box.

If the excessive consumption of these energizing cans can have negative impacts on physical health, it can also have harmful effects on mental health, as explained by Dr. Achache, specialist in psychology, and lead to an addictive effect. “In some of these drinks, there are addictive products which lead to addiction, a form close to drug addiction”, further specifies the doctor. Sportsmen ; A “stimulating sports drink”:

Athletes represent an important marketing target. They will also be victims of the “stimulating” connotation, declined in sports performance, and highlighted in advertising messages. Some athletes are looking for an improvement in performance, even if this has yet to be demonstrated. This attitude is a real doping behavior!

To carry out the comparative tests, 1500 drinks of 250 ml were prepared, each drink is composed of 1263.67 mg of "MDRAF", lemon flavor and mineral water.

The population tested is made up of 500 people who are used to consuming 1 can of energy drink of 250 ml each day.

After a regular rhythm of intake of 295 ml of energy drink (contains approximately 96.83 mg of caffeine and 1166.84 mg of taurine) for 30 days, this daily dose was replaced by the dose of juice prepared from "MDRAF" on day 31 , day 32 and day 33.

On the 34th day, a questionnaire was made for the population tested, on 2 effects; the awakening effect and the energizing effect. The responses were as shown in Figure 1:

Among the 500 people, there are 3 people who noticed that the effect of "MDRAF" is lower than the effect of caffeine-taurine found in the energy drink, that is, after the consumption of “MDRAF”, these 3 people felt a drop in energy and arousal to the ordinary average offered by the energy drink. 492 people who found that the effect of "MDRAF" and the effect of caffeine-taurine are identical, and they did not noticed difference, as if they continued consumption of the daily energy drink. 5 people found that the effect of "MDRAF" is superior to the effect of caffeine-taurine existing in the energy drink, explained by a higher energy than that given daily by the drink and a longer wake-up time.

According to these results, it was possible to use the “MDRAF” active ingredient to replace the caffeine-taurine complex.

On the market and according to consumers, energy drinks, among hundreds of brands, the most requested and the most successful are those that contain guarana and ginseng in addition to caffeine and taurine, therefore, 4 strong ingredients; caffeine - taurine - guarana - ginseng.

Based on the active "MDRAF" as a replacement active of the caffeine-taurine complex, we have developed an active principle, which will be the main component of the energy drink "RAF82", composed of "MDRAF" with 12 other natural components (claim 2). This active ingredient has been named “RAF”. The role of this active ingredient is to replace the caffeine - taurine - guarana - ginseng combination.

To ensure the effectiveness of the active ingredient "RAF" we repeated the comparative tests, we prepared 1500 drinks of 250 ml, each drink is composed of 567.5 mg of "RAF", lemon flavor and mineral water. The population tested is made up of 500 people who are used to consuming 1 box of energy drinks daily, those containing guarana and ginseng, of 250 ml. The 2 energy drinks that contain almost the same amount of guarana and ginseng are Redbull and Shark

After a regular rhythm of intake of 220 ml of energy drink (contains approximately 355 mg of guarana and 212.5 mg of ginseng) for 30 days, this daily dose was replaced by the dose of juice prepared with the active ingredient “RAF” in day 31, day 32 and day 33.

On the 34th day, a questionnaire was made for the population tested, on 2 effects; the effect of concentration and the effect of body fatigue. The responses were as shown in Figure 2:

Among the 500 people, there are 5 people who noticed that the effect of "RAF" is lower than the effect of guarana-ginseng found in the energy drink, that is to say, after the consumption of "RAF", there are 5 people among the tested population who felt a drop in concentration and a little more body fatigue compared to the ordinary average offered by the energy drink. 493 people who found that the effect of "RAF" and the effect of guarana-ginseng are identical, and they did not notice any difference, as if they continued the consumption of the daily energy drink with regard to mental presence and bodily concentration and relaxation. 2 people have found that the effect of "RAF" is superior to the effect of guarana-ginseng existing in the energy drink, explained by a mental presence and a concentration and a body and mental relaxation superior to that given daily by the drink .

According to these results, it was possible to use "RAF" as an active principle of the drink "RAF82" to replace the caffeine-taurine-guarana-ginseng complex.

We did a questionnaire, after 30 days, for the population tested, the answers were as shown in figure 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 per category.

We redid the questionnaire, after 60 days, for the same population tested, the answers were as shown in figure 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 per category.

We redid the questionnaire, after 90 days, for the same population tested, the answers were as shown in figure 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 per category.

We redid the questionnaire, after 150 days, for the same population tested, the answers were as shown in figure 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24 per category.

We redid the questionnaire, after 180 days, for the same population tested, the answers were as shown in figure 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29 per category.

From the 60th day, the results were practically stable for all categories. To get a clear idea of the degree of satisfaction of people consuming the drink, we averaged the ratings. The average per category was as shown in Figure 30, 31, 32, 33, and 34.

Claims:

Process for extracting an extract from the Malus Domestica “MDRAF” plant for subsequent use in the formulation of the main active ingredient of the drinkable solution. The extraction process is as follows:

1/ We took 1000 g of the fruits of Malus Domestica.

2/ We cut the 1000 g of Malus Domestica fruits, whole fruit.

3/ We grind the pieces of fruit using an immersion blender.

4/ Leave the mix for 12 hours at room temperature.

5/ We filter the mix using a pressure filter or using a fine veil (small quantity) to have only liquid.
