Description

AN OPERATION METHOD FOR WASHING AND DRYING DEVICES
Technical Field
The present invention relates to an operation method for a main spinning process in devices with both washing and drying features.
Background of the Invention
Washing and drying devices provide both washing and drying of textile products and save space and time as both processes are carried out in a single device. In general, such devices, which commonly have at least one drum, basically comprises at least one washing process performed by using a cleaning agent such as a detergent, a rinsing process performed by using another cleaning agent, preferably such as a fabric softener, a spinning process in which the water in the washed and rinsed products is removed from the products by the drum rotation at high speeds, and at least one drying process which is performed after the cleaning processes are completed by the spinning process. In this regard, washing and drying devices comprise at least one heater for heating a cleaning liquid used in the cleaning process and for heating the air used in the drying process, wherein during the cleaning process, the cleaning liquid is heated and circulated between the drum and the tub in which the drum is located; while during the drying process, the drying air is heated and circulated in a similar way.
According to these devices, before the drying process, the drum is rotated at very high speeds so that the drying performance is more efficient, and by this way, the spinning process can be carried out to remove most of the water in the products from the products. However, at the end of the spinning process carried out in this way, the products may stick to the inner wall of the drum and thus close the holes on the drum. In this case, the air cannot be transmitted to the drum as required for the drying process following the spinning process, and the drying efficiency may decrease. There are various applications in the known art to solve the said problem, one of which is described in EP0796942A2. According to the application described in said document, before starting the drying process after the spinning process, a loosening process is carried out by rotating the drum clockwise and counter clockwise at certain intervals, in which case the laundry stuck to the drum surface is allowed to fall into the drum before the drying process begins. However, this application may not ensure whole separation of the laundry from the drum surface in an effective manner, and it may also cause an increase in the process load in washing and drying devices, as it requires for an intermediate process.
Brief Description of the Invention
The operation method according to the present invention is suitable for use in a washing and drying device having at least one drum rotatable around an axis substantially passing through its centre, at least one motor for rotating the drum and at least one heater, and comprising at least one washing process performed by using a cleaning agent for both washing and drying especially the textile products, a rinsing process, a spinning process in which the water contained in the washed and rinsed products is removed from the products by rotating the drum at a relatively higher speed compared to the washing process, and at least one drying process following the cleaning processes completed by the spinning process, wherein the operation method is suitable for use in said spinning process of the washing and drying device and comprises the steps of:
• performing a first spinning process;
• receiving water into the drum after the first spinning process;
• discharging the received water and performing the first spinning process again; and
• completing the spinning process.
Thanks to the operation method according to the present invention, the spinning process conventionally performed with a high drum speed is divided into sub-steps where the drum is rotated at lower speeds and a water intake process is performed, and in this way, both the efficiency of removing water from the laundry during the spinning process is not compromised, and the laundry can be prevented from sticking to the inner surface of the drum, thus preventing the spinning process from negatively affecting the drying process. Therefore, an effective and efficient operation method can be achieved for the spinning process of washing and drying devices. of the Invention
An object of the present invention is to provide an operation method for the main spinning process in devices with both washing and drying features.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an operation method that prevents the products from sticking to the inner surface of the drum during the main spinning process.
A further object of the present invention is to provide an operation method that increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the drying process to be carried out after the main spinning process.

of the Invention
Conventional washing and drying devices comprise at least one drum which can rotate around an axis substantially passing through its centre and in which the cleaning processes and drying processes are carried out, wherein during the main spinning process involved in the cleaning process of said devices, the drum is rotated at much higher speeds than in a washing process performed during the cleaning process, so that the water in the wet products in the drum, which have been washed and rinsed, can be removed from the products. However, as a result of this high-speed rotation process, the products may stay stuck on the inner surface of the drum with the effect of the centrifugal force such that, during the drying process following this main spinning process, the air sent into the drum through the drum holes cannot penetrate the wet products effectively, since at least some of the holes are closed with products stuck to the drum surface. This situation negatively affects the efficiency and therefore the performance of the drying process, there is no homogeneous air distribution in the drum, and some products may dry quickly while some products may remain wet. Accordingly, the present invention provides an operation method for the main spinning process in washing and drying devices in order to increase the efficiency of the drying process performed after the main spinning process. The operation method according to the invention is suitable for use in a washing and drying device having at least one drum rotatable around an axis substantially passing through its centre by means of at least one motor, at least one motor for rotating the drum and at least one heater, and comprising at least one washing process performed by using a cleaning agent, such as a detergent, for both washing and drying especially the textile products (laundry), a rinsing process performed by using another cleaning agent, preferably such as a fabric softener, a spinning process in which the water contained in the washed and rinsed products is removed from the products by rotating the drum at a relatively higher speed compared to the washing process, and at least one drying process following the cleaning processes completed by the spinning process, wherein the operation method is suitable for use in said spinning process of the washing and drying device. The operation method preferably comprises the steps of pre-heating the laundry in the drum (preferably for a first period (preferably within the range of 4-15 minutes)) after the rinsing process; preferably after the pre-heating process, rotating the drum at a predetermined first speed (preferably in the range of 1000-1200 rpm) so as to perform a first spinning process (preferably, the first spinning process is performed by rotating the motor at the highest speed defined for the first spinning process, within a period of 1-5 minutes, and is terminated upon completion of this period); after the first spinning process, receiving some water into the drum (preferably for a second period less than the first period (preferably, the second period is in the range of 20-35 seconds)); then, discharging the received water and performing the first spinning process again; and completing the spinning process.
In a preferred embodiment of the operation method according to the invention, the following steps are provided: after the repeated first spinning process, performing a laundry loosening process (preferably for a fifth period longer than the second period (the fifth period is preferably in the range of 3-5 minutes)); after the laundry loosening process, preferably performing a pre-heating process (preferably for a sixth period longer than the second period (the sixth period is preferably in the range of 4-15 minutes)); after that, preferably, rotating the drum at a predetermined second speed (preferably in the range of 1000-1200 rpm) higher than the first speed so as to perform a second spinning process (the second spinning process is preferably carried out within a period of 1-5 minutes by rotating the motor at the highest speed defined for the second spinning process, and is terminated upon completion of this period); then, preferably, performing a pre-heating step once again (preferably for a seventh period (preferably within the range of 3-5 minutes) longer than the second period), wherein said periods (first period, second period, third period, fourth period, fifth period, sixth period and seventh period) are preferably not equal.
In an alternative embodiment, the operation method according to the invention preferably comprises the step of: before the repeated first spinning process, following discharge of the water in the drum, operating the heater (preferably for a third period longer than the second period (preferably within the range of 3-5 minutes)) to perform a laundry loosening process. In this embodiment, the method of the invention also preferably comprises the step of: after the laundry loosening process, performing a pre-heating process (preferably for a fourth period longer the second period (the fourth period is preferably in the range of 4-15 minutes)).
In an exemplary preferred embodiment of the invention, in order to prevent the laundry from sticking to the inner surface of the drum and thus to increase the efficiency of the drying process, at the end of the washing process, the drum is rotated at a very high speed to perform the first spinning process (during this first spinning process, the motor can preferably rotate at different speeds at certain periods; for example, at different rotation speeds such that the rotation of the motor starts with a relatively low speed and gradually increases until it reaches the highest speed defined during manufacture for the first spinning process or that the motor rotates at the highest speed defined as the last). At the end of the first spinning process, the motor is run at a certain intensity and water is received into the drum for a certain period of time, and in the meantime, it is preferably ensured that the drum is rotated to make an agitation movement different from the agitation movement performed during the washing process (this agitation movement is preferably such that the drum is rotated in the range of 45-60 rpm and the motor intensity is in the range of 60-65% [motor intensity is determined by the ratio of the period the motor is active to the total period, in other words, if the motor is active for 10 seconds and not running for 10 seconds, the motor intensity is expressed as 50%]). Afterwards, the water received is discharged and the first spinning process is repeated so that the spinning process is completed, after which the drying process is started. Yet in another alternative exemplary embodiment, preferably, before the initial first spinning process, for the beginning of the spinning process, the drum is preferably rotated at a certain high speed and the motor is preferably run at a certain intensity such that the laundry in the drum is pre-heated by sending the heated air to the drum. In another exemplary embodiment, preferably, after the step of receiving water into the drum and before the first repeated spinning process, the water in the drum is discharged and the laundry loosening process, in which preferably all the heaters in the device are active, is carried out, while the drum is preferably rotated at a certain speed. Then, another pre-heating process is carried out, in which the drum is rotated at a higher speed than in the laundry loosening process, and meanwhile, the motor is operated at a certain intensity and preferably a heated air is sent to the drum. After that, the repeated first spinning process is carried out, and following the repeated first spinning process, preferably, the laundry process in which the heaters are active is performed again for a certain period of time. After the repeated laundry loosening process, the pre-heating process is carried out for the third time for another period, and subsequently, a second spinning process is performed at a higher speed than the first spinning process (during this second spinning process, the motor can preferably rotate at different speeds periodically; for example, at different rotation speeds such that the rotation of the motor starts with a relatively low speed and gradually increases until it reaches the highest speed defined during manufacture for the second spinning process, or that the motor rotates at the highest speed defined as the last). After the second spinning process, the laundry loosening process is performed for the third time for another period, and the process is terminated. Thanks to the operation method of the invention, the spinning steps are utilized without the laundry sticking to the drum, and a spinning process that positively affects the drying performance can be carried out.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, in the pre-heating process, the drum is rotated at a third speed lower than the first speed and the second speed (the third speed is preferably in the range of 55-70 rpm, especially preferably 62 rpm), the motor is operated at a first intensity (preferably the first intensity is in the range of 60-70%), and heated air is sent into the drum, preferably in the range of 110-130°C (especially preferably around 120°C). Moreover, according to this embodiment, in the step of receiving water preferably after the first spinning process, the drum is rotated at a fourth speed lower than the third speed (the fourth speed is preferably in the range of 25-40 rpm, especially preferably 33 rpm), the motor is operated at a second intensity lower than the first intensity (the second intensity is preferably in the range of 50-60%), and water is sent into the drum during the second period. In the laundry loosening step, preferably the drum is rotated at a fourth speed, the motor is operated at the second intensity and heated air is preferably sent into the drum.
