Definitions
- the subject of the invention relates to a cleaning product, which kills the pathogenic microorganisms present on the surface where it is applied, i.e. has antimicrobial property, and which further expels the insects from the surface.
- Hygiene is one of the main factors affecting the human health. Accordingly, it is required to provide the ideal conditions of hygiene in the public spaces, such as health centers, schools, restaurants, shopping malls, hotels and the like, and in the private areas where the humans are present for meeting their basic needs.
- the ideal conditions of hygiene are provided by way of effectively cleaning the surfaces in such spaces frequently contacted by the people. In case said surfaces are not cleaned effectively, the bacteria, virus and other pathogenic microorganisms accumulating on said surfaces spread to the skin of the persons upon contact and lead to the emergence of infections and other various health problems in any part of the skin or the body.
- regular disinfection of the surfaces contacted by the people is the measure of first priority required to be taken to provide the ideal conditions of hygiene and to ensure that the diseases are not transmitted or not suffered at all.
- the cleaning of said surfaces is performed with the cleaning products comprising chemicals with various properties.
- the target contaminants, the cleaning performance and the properties affecting the performance are of importance for the choice of the products to be employed in the spaces requiring continuous cleaning.
- Said properties include mainly the effect of a product on the stains left by the contaminants on the pathogenic microorganisms, the effect of a product on the pathogenic microorganisms and the persistency of these effects.
- Some of the conventional surface cleaning products are the products enabling the contaminants on a surface to be readily removed with water from the ambience and not having any destructive effect on the pathogenic microorganisms, i.e. lacking antimicrobial property. While some other products have antimicrobial property, they are products that fall short in dissolving and removing from the ambience the other contaminants.
- Majority of the baby care products, disinfectant sprays, wipes and similar cleaning products with antimicrobial action are alcohol-based and cause irritation in the skin and the respiratory tract in case of their frequent use.
- insects Besides the pathogenic microorganisms, the flies, spiders and similar insects constitute another factor causing health problems in the humans.
- the strong insecticides with long- lasting action are mainly used for the purposes of preventing the contact of the insects with the humans and precluding the spread of the diseases carried by these insects.
- the chemical insecticide products are applied via the method of spraying on the surfaces in enclosed spaces, and in this way, the insects in the house environments are killed and the spread of the diseases like malaria carried by these insects is considerably prevented.
- the frequent use of such products leads to environmental pollution and poisoning of other living beings as well.
- a cleaning product which, in addition to providing the dirt removal performance expected from a standard surface cleaning product, is effective on the pathogenic microorganisms, i.e. has antimicrobial action, and at the same time prevents the flies and other pests from contacting the surfaces, has been developed within the scope of the invention. Because the use of the developed cleaning product alone, which is effective against the insects and which has the ability of disinfection, enables more than one function to be obtained at the same time, said product eliminates the necessity to successively use more than one product with chemical ingredients, and thus, it is ensured that the users are not exposed to high quantities of chemicals. By the use of a single product instead of more than one product, the costs are reduced and no undue workload is generated. Owing to the fact that it contains the natural ingredients that are harmless to health as the insect repellent agent, the product has no poisoning effect on the users and does not cause environmental pollution.
- An object of the invention is to develop a cleaning product, which, in addition to the standard cleaning ability, has antimicrobial action, and thus, disinfects the surfaces where it is applied.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a cleaning product, which keeps the insects away from the surfaces where it is applied, and thus, prevents the spread of the diseases carried by the insects.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a cleaning product, which alone achieves the functions realized through the successive use of multiple products according to the state of the art and reduces the exposure of the users to chemicals.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a cleaning product, which is free of the irritant and/or toxic agents contained in the products with similar functions used according to the state of the art and does not lead to the health problems caused by such agents.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a cleaning spray, which has the features described in the preceding objects of the invention and is easy to use.

- the quaternary ammonium compounds which belong to the cationic surfactants, are the antimicrobial compounds capable of killing over 99% of the microorganisms at typical application concentrations. Unlike the other antimicrobial compounds, they are not chemically converted following their use, and therefore, they retain their antimicrobial action as long as they remain bound to the surfaces where they are applied.
- Benzalconium chloride one of the quaternary ammonium compounds, is known to achieve high rate of disinfection for many microorganism species present on the skin and inorganic surfaces.
- Benzalconium chloride compounds with carbon chain distributions of differing length and proportion are available.

Accordingly, it is required to provide the ideal conditions of hygiene in the public spaces, such as health centers, schools, restaurants, shopping malls, hotels and the like, and in the private areas where the humans are present for meeting their basic needs. The ideal conditions of hygiene are provided by way of effectively cleaning the surfaces in such spaces frequently contacted by the people. In case said surfaces are not cleaned effectively, the bacteria, virus and other pathogenic microorganisms accumulating on said surfaces spread to the skin of the persons upon contact and lead to the emergence of infections and other various health problems in any part of the skin or the body. As a result, regular disinfection of the surfaces contacted by the people is the measure of first priority required to be taken to provide the ideal conditions of hygiene and to ensure that the diseases are not transmitted or not suffered at all.
Currently, the cleaning of said surfaces is performed with the cleaning products comprising chemicals with various properties. The target contaminants, the cleaning performance and the properties affecting the performance are of importance for the choice of the products to be employed in the spaces requiring continuous cleaning. Said properties include mainly the effect of a product on the stains left by the contaminants on the pathogenic microorganisms, the effect of a product on the pathogenic microorganisms and the persistency of these effects.
Some of the conventional surface cleaning products are the products enabling the contaminants on a surface to be readily removed with water from the ambience and not having any destructive effect on the pathogenic microorganisms, i.e. lacking antimicrobial property. While some other products have antimicrobial property, they are products that fall short in dissolving and removing from the ambience the other contaminants. Majority of the baby care products, disinfectant sprays, wipes and similar cleaning products with antimicrobial action are alcohol-based and cause irritation in the skin and the respiratory tract in case of their frequent use.
Besides the pathogenic microorganisms, the flies, spiders and similar insects constitute another factor causing health problems in the humans. The strong insecticides with long- lasting action are mainly used for the purposes of preventing the contact of the insects with the humans and precluding the spread of the diseases carried by these insects. The chemical
insecticide products are applied via the method of spraying on the surfaces in enclosed spaces, and in this way, the insects in the house environments are killed and the spread of the diseases like malaria carried by these insects is considerably prevented. However, the frequent use of such products leads to environmental pollution and poisoning of other living beings as well.
Today, the products are available, which are developed for eliminating only a specific pest type. Consequently, the users have to provide more than one product and apply all of these on the surface in cases where it is desired to remove more than one type of pest from the surface. This is a condition leading to financial losses and undue workload. In case the conventional surface cleaning products, each containing effective chemicals, are used successively and frequently, they, while preventing the diseases associated with pathogenic microorganisms and insects, this time lead to other health problems in the users due to the chemicals they contain at high doses. As a result, the cleaning products are needed, which enable to kill the pathogenic microorganisms as well as expel the pests from the surfaces and which do not harm the health of other living beings while performing these actions.
In orderto meet said need, a cleaning product, which, in addition to providing the dirt removal performance expected from a standard surface cleaning product, is effective on the pathogenic microorganisms, i.e. has antimicrobial action, and at the same time prevents the flies and other pests from contacting the surfaces, has been developed within the scope of the invention.

The quaternary ammonium compounds, which belong to the cationic surfactants, are the antimicrobial compounds capable of killing over 99% of the microorganisms at typical application concentrations. Unlike the other antimicrobial compounds, they are not chemically converted following their use, and therefore, they retain their antimicrobial action as long as they remain bound to the surfaces where they are applied.
Benzalconium chloride, one of the quaternary ammonium compounds, is known to achieve high rate of disinfection for many microorganism species present on the skin and inorganic surfaces. Benzalconium chloride compounds with carbon chain distributions of differing length and proportion are available. Benzalconium chloride compounds are able to eliminate many of the pathogenic microorganisms accumulating on the surfaces. The disinfectant action of these compounds varies according to the lengths and quantities of the carbon chains they contain. The positively charged chlorhexidine gluconate, another compound with quaternary ammonium structure, disrupts the integrity of the cell membrane by interacting with the negatively charged microbial cell surface and causes the cell death by penetrating the cell.
Didecyl ammonium chloride, another compound with quaternary ammonium structure, is known to considerably prevent many infections caused especially by the methicillin-resistant S. aureus strains.
One of said embodiments of the product according to the invention comprises 0.05-5% by weight benzalconium chloride (50% C12, 30% C14, 17% C16, 3% C18) and/or benzalconium chloride (62-75% C12, 21-30% C14, 3% C16) and/or benzalconium chloride (5% C12, 60% C14, 30% C16, 5% C18) and/or benzalconium chloride (40% C12, 50% C14, 10% C16) and/or chlorhexidine gluconate and/or didecyl ammonium chloride, as the antimicrobial agent.
