L'invention concerne un dispositif de thérapie par stimulation électrique comprenant : une paire d'électrodes de stimulation qui sont disposées sur la peau sur l'arrière du sacrum d'un patient et qui fournissent une stimulation électrique aux nerfs passant à travers le sacrum ou à proximité du sacrum ; une électrode de détection qui est disposée à proximité de la vessie dans l'abdomen inférieur du patient et qui détecte des signaux myoélectriques autour de la vessie du patient ; et une unité de commande qui est connectée électriquement à la paire d'électrodes de stimulation et à l'électrode de détection. L'unité de commande applique par intermittence une tension de stimulation à la paire d'électrodes de stimulation et détecte, par l'intermédiaire de l'électrode de détection, des changements dans les signaux myoélectriques autour de la vessie, de tels changements étant induits par le relâchement et la contraction de la vessie telles que générées par l'application intermittente de la tension de stimulation.
