도 1을 참고하면, 무선 통신 시스템은 무선 접속 망(radio access network, RAN)(102) 및 코어 망(core network, CN)(104)를 포함한다.
무선 접속 망(102)은 사용자 장치, 예를 들어, 단말(120)과 직접 연결되는 네트워크로서, 단말(120)에게 무선 접속을 제공하는 인프라스트럭쳐(infrastructure)이다. 무선 접속 망(102)은 기지국(110)을 포함하는 복수의 기지국들의 집합을 포함하며, 복수의 기지국들은 상호 간 형성된 인터페이스를 통해 통신을 수행할 수 있다. 복수의 기지국들 간 인터페이스들 중 적어도 일부는 유선이거나 무선일 수 있다. 기지국(110)110은 CU(central unit) 및 DU(distributed unit)으로 분리된 구조를 가질 수 있다. 이 경우, 하나의 CU가 복수의 DU들을 제어할 수 있다. 기지국(110)은 기지국(base station) 외에 '액세스 포인트(access point, AP)', 'gNB(next generation node B)', '5G 노드(5th generation node)', '무선 포인트(wireless point)', '송수신 포인트(transmission/reception point, TRP)', 또는 이와 동등한 기술적 의미를 가지는 다른 용어로 지칭될 수 있다. 단말(120)은 무선 접속 망(102)에 접속하고, 기지국(110)과 무선 채널을 통해 통신을 수행한다. 단말(120)은 단말(terminal) 외 '사용자 장비(user equipment, UE)', '이동국(mobile station)', '가입자국(subscriber station)', '원격 단말(remote terminal)', '무선 단말(wireless terminal)', 또는 '사용자 장치(user device)' 또는 이와 동등한 기술적 의미를 가지는 다른 용어로 지칭될 수 있다.
코어 망(104)은 전체 시스템을 관리하는 네트워크로서, 무선 접속 망(102)을 제어하고, 무선 접속 망(102)을 통해 송수신되는 단말(120)에 대한 데이터 및 제어 신호들을 처리한다. 코어 망(104)은 사용자 플랜(user plane) 및 제어 플랜(control plane)의 제어, 이동성(mobility)의 처리, 가입자 정보의 관리, 과금, 다른 종류의 시스템(예: LTE(long term evolution) 시스템)과의 연동 등 다양한 기능들을 수행한다. 상술한 다양한 기능들을 수행하기 위해, 코어 망(104)은 서로 다른 NF(network function)들을 가진 기능적으로 분리된 다수의 객체(entity)들을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 코어 망(104)은 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 대역 공유 시스템에서, 그루핑 및 클러스터링을 수행하는 제어 서버를 포함할 수 있다. 제어 서버는 제어부 또는 프로세서로 지칭될 수 있다. 나열된 기능적 객체들은 적어도 하나의 하드웨어 장치(예: 서버)로 구현될 수 있다. 하나의 장치에서 복수의 기능적 객체들의 기능들이 수행되는 경우, 복수의 기능적 객체들은 복수의 가상 머신(virtual machine)들에 의해 구현될 수 있다.
도 2는 본 개시의 다양한 실시 예들에 따른 무선 통신 시스템에서 기지국의 구성을 도시한다. 도 2에 예시된 구성은 기지국(110)의 구성으로서 이해될 수 있다. 이하 사용되는 '…부', '…기' 등의 용어는 적어도 하나의 기능이나 동작을 처리하는 단위를 의미하며, 이는 하드웨어나 소프트웨어, 또는, 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어의 결합으로 구현될 수 있다.
도 2를 참고하면, 기지국은 무선통신부(210), 백홀통신부(220), 저장부(230), 제어부(240)를 포함한다.
무선통신부(210)는 무선 채널을 통해 신호를 송수신하기 위한 기능들을 수행한다. 예를 들어, 무선통신부(210)는 시스템의 물리 계층 규격에 따라 기저대역 신호 및 비트열 간 변환 기능을 수행한다. 예를 들어, 데이터 송신 시, 무선통신부(210)는 송신 비트열을 부호화 및 변조함으로써 복소 심벌들을 생성한다. 또한, 데이터 수신 시, 무선통신부(210)는 기저대역 신호를 복조 및 복호화를 통해 수신 비트열을 복원한다.
또한, 무선통신부(210)는 기저대역 신호를 RF(radio frequency) 대역 신호로 상향변환한 후 안테나를 통해 송신하고, 안테나를 통해 수신되는 RF 대역 신호를 기저대역 신호로 하향변환한다. 이를 위해, 무선통신부(210)는 송신 필터, 수신 필터, 증폭기, 믹서(mixer), 오실레이터(oscillator), DAC(digital to analog convertor), ADC(analog to digital convertor) 등을 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 무선통신부(210)는 다수의 송수신 경로(path)들을 포함할 수 있다. 나아가, 무선통신부(210)는 다수의 안테나 요소들(antenna elements)로 구성된 적어도 하나의 안테나 어레이(antenna array)를 포함할 수 있다.
하드웨어의 측면에서, 무선통신부(210)는 디지털 유닛(digital unit) 및 아날로그 유닛(analog unit)으로 구성될 수 있으며, 아날로그 유닛은 동작 전력, 동작 주파수 등에 따라 다수의 서브 유닛(sub-unit)들로 구성될 수 있다. 디지털 유닛은 적어도 하나의 프로세서(예: DSP(digital signal processor))로 구현될 수 있다.
무선통신부(210)는 상술한 바와 같이 신호를 송신 및 수신한다. 이에 따라, 무선통신부(210)의 전부 또는 일부는 '송신부(transmitter)', '수신부(receiver)' 또는 '송수신부(transceiver)'로 지칭될 수 있다. 또한, 이하 설명에서, 무선 채널을 통해 수행되는 송신 및 수신은 무선통신부(210)에 의해 상술한 바와 같은 처리가 수행되는 것을 포함하는 의미로 사용된다.
백홀통신부(220)는 네트워크 내 다른 노드들과 통신을 수행하기 위한 인터페이스를 제공한다. 즉, 백홀통신부(220)는 기지국에서 다른 노드, 예를 들어, 다른 접속 노드, 다른 기지국, 상위 노드, 코어 망 등으로 송신되는 비트열을 물리적 신호로 변환하고, 다른 노드로부터 수신되는 물리적 신호를 비트열로 변환한다.
저장부(230)는 기지국의 동작을 위한 기본 프로그램, 응용 프로그램, 설정 정보 등의 데이터를 저장한다. 저장부(230)는 휘발성 메모리, 비휘발성 메모리 또는 휘발성 메모리와 비휘발성 메모리의 조합으로 구성될 수 있다. 그리고, 저장부(230)는 제어부(240)의 요청에 따라 저장된 데이터를 제공한다.

다양한 실시 예들에 따라, 제어부(330)는 대역 공유 시스템에서 적어도 하나 이상의 기지국을 미리 설정된 조건에 따라 선택하여, 그루핑을 수행할 수 있다. 또한 그루핑을 통해 형성된 적어도 하나 이상의 그룹들 중 동일한 대역을 동시에 사용하는 그룹들을 확인하고, 이를 클러스터로 결정할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 제어부(330)는 단말이 후술하는 다양한 실시 예들에 따른 동작들을 수행하도록 제어할 수 있다.
도 4는, 본 개시의 일 실시 예들에 따른 무선 통신 시스템에서 기지국의 빔포머 제어 동작을 도시한 순서도이다.
도 4를 참조하면, 기지국(110)은 다중 안테나를 통해 신호 또는 데이터를 송신하기 위해 빔포머를 생성하고, 생성된 빔포머가 전력 제한을 만족하는 범위에서 효율적으로 동작할 수 있도록 제어할 수 있다.
기지국(110)에 동작 가능하게 연결되거나, 기지국(110)에 포함된 다중 안테나가 사용자 단말 등으로 신호 또는 데이터를 송신 또는 수신할 때, 안테나가 사용하는 전력과 관련하여 전력 제한이 있을 수 있다.
전력 제한은, 모든 송신 안테나가 사용하는 전력의 합을 제한하는 총 손실 전력 제한과 각 안테나가 사용가능한 최대 전력을 제한하는 안테나별 송신 전력 제한을 포함할 수 있다.
전력 제한을 만족시키기 위해서는, 생성된 빔포머를 비례 축소할 수 있다. 비례 축소는 스케일링으로 지칭될 수 있다. 스케일링은 각각의 안테나 별 전력 제한을 모두 만족시키도록 송신 전력을 비례 축소하기 위해 수행될 수 있다.
다중 안테나를 구성하는 모든 안테나가 전력 제한을 만족하도록 스케일링을 수행하기 위해서는, 가장 높은 비율로 전력 제한을 초과하는 안테나가, 전력 제한을 만족하도록 스케일링 값이 전해질 수 있다. 따라서, 빔포밍 특성을 만족하기 위해, 이 값에 따라 스케일링을 수행할 경우, 이미 전력 제한을 만족하고 있거나, 상대적으로 낮은 비율로 전력 제한을 초과하는 안테나들은 과도하게 낮은 전력을 사용하게 된다.
보다 구체적으로, 스케일링은 안테나가 송신 또는 수신하는 신호의 진폭을 축소하는 동작으로 이해될 수 있다. 이 경우, 제1 빔포머의 진폭 중 최댓값을 기준으로 모든 안테나에 가해지는 진폭을 동일하게 비례 축소할 수 있다. 다만, 대부분의 제1 빔포머의 경우 각 안테나에 가해지는 진폭이 넓은 범위에 흩어져 있어, 최대 진폭을 기준으로 비례 축소한 빔포머는 사용가능한 총 전력 제한보다 아주 낮은 전력을 사용하게 될 수 있다. 따라서, 안테나별 전력 제한을 만족하기 위해, 전체 안테나의 전력 제한에 비해 지나치게 낮은 전력을 사용하게 되므로, 이는 통신 속도를 저하시킬 수 있다.

기지국(110)은 다중 안테나의 전력 제한에 따라, 스케일링 된 제1 빔포머를 생성할 수 있다. 전력 제한은 다중 안테나 각각에 대해 안테나 별로 미리 정해진 고유의 값일 수 있다. 제1 빔포머는 초기 빔포머로 지칭될 수 있다. 제1 빔포머에 수행되는 스케일링은, 다중 안테나를 구성하는 모든 안테나에 동일하게 이루어짐으로써 각각의 안테나에 대한 빔포밍 특성을 유지하게 할 수 있다.
스케일링은, 제1 빔포머의 진폭 중 최댓값을 기준으로 모든 안테나에 가해지는 진폭을 동일하게 비례 축소하는 동작으로 수행되는 바, 스케일링을 통해 모든 안테나가 안테나별 전력 제한을 만족하게 될 수 있다. 다만, 지나치게 낮은 전력을 사용함으로써 통신 품질이 저하되는 것을 보상하기 위해, 특정 안테나를 구분할 필요가 있다.
전력 임계치는, 특정 안테나가 전력 제한을 만족하더라도, 전력 제한 값에 비해 지나치게 낮은 전력을 사용하도록 설정된 경우, 해당하는 안테나를 식별하는 기준이 될 수 있다.
기지국(110)이 해당하는 안테나를 식별하는 경우, 기지국(110)은 이 안테나에 대하여만 전력 보상을 위한 동작을 별도로 수행할 수 있다.
전력 임계치는, 개별 안테나의 전력 제한 값보다는 낮은 값으로서, 통신 품질이나 통신 속도가 일정 수준 이상을 유지하게 할 수 있는 전력 수치를 의미할 수 있다.
구체적으로 개별 안테나에 대한 전력 제한 값이 PPAPC로 정해질 경우, 전력 임계치는, PPAPC의 0≤p≤1배일 수 있다. 이때, p 값은 사용자에 의해 지정되거나, 기지국이 전송하고자 하는 데이터나 신호에 따라 달라질 수 있다.
예를 들어 p 값이 0.9로 결정되는 경우, 기지국(110)은 개별 안테나에 대한 전력 제한 값의 90퍼센트에 해당하는 값을 전력 임계치로 결정할 수 있다.
이때, 전력 임계치를 만족한다는 것은, 스케일링 된 빔포머에 기반하여 선택되는 특정 안테나의 사용 가능한 전력 값이, 전력 임계치 미만인 경우인 것을 의미할 수 있다. 따라서, 전력 임계치를 만족하는 타겟 안테나를 결정하는 동작은, 다중 안테나 중 전력 임계치 값보다 적은 값으로 사용하고 있는 모든 안테나를 결정하는 동작으로 이해될 수 있다.
예를 들어 p 값이 0.9인 경우, 각각의 안테나가 스케일링 된 제1 빔포머에 의해, 개별 안테나 전력 제한 값의 90%미만, 즉 85%를 사용할 수 있다면, 85%를 사용하는 안테나는 타겟 안테나가 될 수 있다.
다중 안테나를 구성하는 개별 안테나가 총 32개인 경우, 전력 제한 값의 90% 미만까지 사용할 수 있는 안테나의 수가 20개인 경우, 타겟 안테나는 20개인 것으로 결정될 수 있다.
단계(403s)에서, 기지국(110)은 타겟 안테나와 연관된 제2 빔포머를 생성한다.
제2 빔포머는 타겟 안테나에 대하여 새로 디자인 된 빔포머일 수 있다. 타겟 안테나로 결정된 안테나가 20개인 경우, 20개의 타겟 안테나에 대하여만 제2 빔포머가 생성될 수 있다. 제2 빔포머는, 타겟 안테나에 대한 제1 빔포머와의 중첩을 고려하여 생성될 수 있다. 이 때, 중첩하기 위한 제2 빔포머를 디자인하기 위한 방법은 제한적이지 않으며, 공지의 모든 방법이 이용될 수 있다.

Claims (15)

  1. 다중 안테나를 이용하는 무선 통신 시스템에서 기지국의 동작 방법에 있어서,
    상기 방법은,
    전력 제한에 따라 스케일링 된 제1 빔포머에 기반하여, 상기 다중 안테나 중 전력 임계치를 만족하는 안테나를 결정하는 과정과,
    상기 안테나와 연관된 제2 빔포머를 생성하는 과정과,
    상기 제2 빔포머에 중첩 계수 행렬을 적용하는 과정과,
    상기 중첩 계수 행렬이 적용된 상기 제2 빔포머와 상기 제1 빔포머를 합산하여 제3 빔포머를 생성하는 과정을 포함하는 방법.
  2. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 제3 빔포머에 기반하여, 다중 안테나 중 전력 임계치를 만족하는 안테나를 결정하는 과정과,
    상기 결정된 안테나의 수가 임계치 이상인지 결정하는 과정을 더 포함하는 방법.
  3. 청구항 2에 있어서,
    상기 결정된 안테나의 수가 임계치 이상인 것으로 결정되는 것에 대응하여, 상기 제3 빔포머를 이용하여 신호를 송신하는 과정을 더 포함하는 방법.
  4. 청구항 2에 있어서,
    상기 결정된 안테나의 수가 임계치 미만인 것으로 결정되는 것에 대응하여, 상기 전력 제한에 따라 스케일링 된 제1 빔포머에 기반하여, 상기 다중 안테나 중 전력 임계치를 만족하는 안테나를 결정하는 과정을 다시 수행하는 과정을 더 포함하는 방법.
  5. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 빔포머는,
    상기 제1 빔포머와 연관된 진폭 중 최대값을 기준으로 상기 다중 안테나에 가해지는 적어도 하나 이상의 진폭을 동일한 비율로 축소되는 방법,
  6. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 중첩 계수는,
    상기 제1 빔포머와 상기 제3 빔포머에 기반하여 결정되는 방법.
  7. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 중첩 계수는,
    상기 제3 빔포머를 이용한 송신 전력이, 상기 다중 안테나의 모든 전력 제한에 대응되는 값 미만이 되는 범위에서 결정되는 방법.
  8. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 중첩 계수는,
    상기 제3 빔포머를 이용한 송신 전력이, 상기 다중 안테나 중 적어도 하나의 안테나의 전력 제한에 대응되는 값 미만이 되는 범위에서 결정되는 방법.
  9. 다중 안테나를 이용하는 무선 통신 시스템에서 기지국 장치에 있어서,
    상기 기지국의 장치는,
    통신부; 및
    상기 통신부와 동작 가능하게 연결된 적어도 하나 이상의 제어부를 포함하며,
    상기 적어도 하나 이상의 제어부는,
    전력 제한에 따라 스케일링 된 제1 빔포머에 기반하여, 상기 다중 안테나 중 전력 임계치를 만족하는 안테나를 결정하고,
    상기 안테나와 연관된 제2 빔포머를 생성하고,
    상기 제2 빔포머에 중첩 계수 행렬을 적용하고,
    상기 중첩 계수 행렬이 적용된 상기 제2 빔포머와 상기 제1 빔포머를 합산하여 제3 빔포머를 생성하도록 구성되는 장치.
  10. 청구항 9에 있어서,
    상기 적어도 하나 이상의 제어부는,
    상기 제3 빔포머에 기반하여, 다중 안테나 중 전력 임계치를 만족하는 안테나를 결정하고,
    상기 결정된 안테나의 수가 임계치 이상인지 결정하도록 더 구성되는 장치.
  11. 청구항 10에 있어서,
    상기 적어도 하나 이상의 제어부는,
    상기 결정된 안테나의 수가 임계치 이상인 것으로 결정되는 것에 대응하여, 상기 제3 빔포머를 이용하여 신호를 송신하도록 더 구성되는 장치.
  12. 청구항 10에 있어서,
    상기 적어도 하나 이상의 제어부는,
    상기 결정된 안테나의 수가 임계치 미만인 것으로 결정되는 것에 대응하여, 상기 전력 제한에 따라 스케일링 된 제1 빔포머에 기반하여, 상기 다중 안테나 중 전력 임계치를 만족하는 안테나를 결정하는 동작을 다시 수행하도록 더 구성되는 장치.
  13. 청구항 9에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 빔포머는,
    상기 제1 빔포머와 연관된 진폭 중 최대값을 기준으로 상기 다중 안테나에 가해지는 적어도 하나 이상의 진폭을 동일한 비율로 축소되는 장치.
  14. 청구항 10에 있어서,
    상기 중첩 계수는,
    상기 제1 빔포머와 상기 제3 빔포머에 기반하여 결정되는 장치.
  15. 청구항 9에 있어서,
    상기 중첩 계수는,
    상기 제3 빔포머를 이용한 송신 전력이, 상기 다중 안테나의 모든 전력 제한에 대응되는 값 미만이 되는 범위에서 결정되는 장치.
