The controller 32 can then adjust the sound of the components of the enclosure 14 if the overall sound of the immersive experience of the three dimensional display system 10 needs to be increased in order to be loud enough to be heard by the guest 16 over the sound of the surrounding environment. In another example, the sensor 18 may pick up the sound of another guest 16 approaching the enclosure 14. The controller 32 may then adjust the immersive experience of the enclosure 14 as discussed above in order to provide a different experience (e.g., emit a different visual effect, change the effect associated with the special effect system 80, and so forth).

- the three dimensional display system 10 may use an artificial intelligence application in order to interact with the guest 16.
- a pre-recorded sound bite, message, or other animation may be played by the speaker system 84 in response to a particular signal output by the sound sensor 18. For example, when the guest 16 approaches the enclosure 14 and exclaims “Look at this creepy critter!”, a pre-recorded message may be played back to the guest 16 to interact with the guest 16.
- a voice font can be produced from words previously recorded by an actor or another source in order to provide different phrases, sentences, or snippets to be played to the guest 16.
- the sensors 18 may create signals that are representative of objects, faces, voices, sounds, voice content, and so forth.
- the controller 32 may adjust the operation of the special effect system 80 in response to these signals.
- the controller 32 may use speech recognition, language processing, artificial intelligence, and/or voice font in order to speak to the guest 16.
- a voice font can be produced from a set of utterances previously recorded by an actor or another source in order to provide different phrases, sentences, or snippets to be played to the guest 16.
- the controller 32 may activate the special effect systems 80 in order to leverage one or more haptic effects of the haptic system 82 in order to impart a feeling of a real world physical effect on the guest 16, such as use of an air nozzle, ultra- sonic transducers, and so forth.
- FIG. 4 is a flow diagram illustrating an embodiment of a process 400 of operating the three-dimensional display system 10 of FIG. 1, in accordance with present embodiments.
- the process 400 may include receiving (block 402) a sensor signal from one or more sensors 18 that is indicative of a presence or proximity of a user.
- the sensors 18 may include a camera, a proximity sensor, a sound sensor, a motion sensor, a pressure sensor, a temperature sensor, a flex sensor, an infrared sensor, a light sensor, a microphone, or a combination of these sensors.
- the sensors 18 may detect the presence of the guest 16 into the viewing area 30, that another guest 16 has entered the viewing area 30, sound, motion, and so forth.
- the process 400 may include activating (block 404) the first display 22, the first display 22 being at least partially transparent and the second display 24, the second display having the one or more light sources 42, based on the sensor signal.
- the first display 22 may display its content.
- the images displayed on the first display 22 appear closer than the images displayed on the second display 24.
- the images displayed on the first display 22 may be different images that give the appearance of two scenes (e.g., a mountain in the background and a gnome in the foreground).
- the images displayed on the first display 22 and the second display 24 may be perceived as part of one overall image, where separate elements of the overall image are shown on the first display 22 (e.g., first display 22 showing a nose) and the second display 24 (e.g., second display 24 showing remaining facial features, such as eyes and mouth) to create a digital character with greater depth effects.

- the process 400 may include activating (block 406) the special effect system 80 to activate a special effect element 28 within the enclosed space 35 between the first display 22 and the second display 24 in response to the signal(s) from the sensors 18.
- the special effect may include special effects such as actuation of a prop, or utilizing special effect materials such as fire, smoke, fog, rain, and so forth.
- the display content of the first display 22 may be selected to augment the special effect.
- the display content may be absent in an area of the first display 22 corresponding to the actuatable object 29 to permit viewing of the actuatable object 29 through the transparent, and empty, area of the display.
- the display content may be layered with the actuation such that the actuatable object 29, implemented as a vine moving towards the first display 22, is simultaneous with display content showing expanding or spreading leaves.
