Description
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a protective equipment that is capable of weakening or killing microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc. in the environment.
The present invention particularly relates to a protective equipment that is capable of trapping microorganisms such as bacteria, virus, fungi, etc. in the environment, and weakening or killing these microorganisms via ultraviolet light.
State of the Art
The presence of diseases caused by microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria, and fungi, etc. is a fact, and therefore a problem that needs to be overcome by the world of science. In addition, humans try to protect themselves from the harms of such microorganisms by using their protective equipment such as surgical masks, face shields, etc. Also, the microorganism killing effect of rays at ultraviolet C (UVC) wavelength has once again become a frequently used trend.
Particularly, the COVID-19 virus which emerged in Wuhan City of China in late 2019, spread all over the world within only 3-4 months and became a pandemic rapidly and negatively affected our daily lives in a manner that we never have anticipated. In addition to physical/social distancing so as to hinder the spread of the virus that threatens human health, the importance of cleaning and hygiene in protection against viruses was mentioned on every platform. The process of developing a vaccine and drug against the virus continues around the clock in the laboratories with this case for which all scientists are mobilized at the point of a solution. However, a tangible result has yet to be achieved as the virus mutates constantly.
The humans have to continue their lives according to the new normal as the process extends in the course of time. In a period when all humanity has to work and produce, protective measures are taken and life continues nevertheless. However, carrying on with life without finding a complete solution for the virus concerns young and old alike.
All workplaces, transportation vehicles, and streets were sterilized by using antimicrobial nanotechnology systems, and viruses that may potentially be transmitted through the air were tried to be eliminated via UV-C lamps in order to maintain a healthy daily life.
In the state of the art, the patent document numbered TR 2020/05460 discloses a protective mask. Said invention relates to a protective mask that comprises a body portion and at least one air channel so as to provide airflow into said body. It comprises at least one of the following as a novelty; at least one air corridor that extends into the body from said air channel and at least one UVC lamp so as to clean the air that will pass through said air corridor and at least one UVC laser. However, said invention is a structure that allows for cleaning the received air instead of killing the viruses in the environment.
Another document with the publication number of JP2004359231 (A) in the state of the art, discloses a photoelectric air cleaner for the vehicles. Said device comprises a prismatic structure that includes an air cleaner body, an aspirator fan, a transformer, a circuit substrate, and an ultraviolet ray radiation tube. Moreover, the body comprises; a connection region so as to remove the virus by fixing the interchangeable ultraviolet ray radiation tube assembly comprising a carbon fiber strip, a protective equipment wall having the same size and precision with the intervention of an air connection wall, and metal spring conductor fixed in a plurality of conductive divisions and a metal conductor with a polarizing end that is integrated into the front part of the ultraviolet ray radiation tube protective wall.
In addition thereto, patent documents numbered TR 2020/08678, TR 2020/05201 , and AU2020100228A4 are also available in the state of the art. However, neither these documents, nor other disclosures in the state of the art describe a protective equipment structure like the present invention that is capable of trapping microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc. in the environment, and weakening or killing these microorganisms by using ultraviolet light.
Consequently, the presence of the aforementioned disadvantages as well as the inadequacy of available solutions regarding the subject matter necessitated making an improvement in the related technical field.

Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of the inventive protective equipment which enables weakening or killing the microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc. within the environment by means of trapping and the same by ultraviolet light.
The inventive protective equipment comprises a turbine (1 ) which enables the aspiration of microorganisms in the environment by creating an airflow towards the protective equipment by means of its rotation.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, there are two scroll turbines (1 ) that operate at 12 volts.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, there is a turbine button (5) which enables to activate or stop the turbine (1 ) by means of establishing or interrupting the energy connection between said turbine (1 ) and the battery (8).
Also, the inventive protective equipment comprises a chamber (2) in which the microorganisms received from said turbine (1 ) are trapped, and a UVC (ultraviolet C) light source (3) which weakens or kills the microorganisms that are trapped within said chamber (2).
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the UVC (ultraviolet C) light source (3) which weakens or kills the microorganisms that are trapped within said chamber (2) is LED. Thus, it can be used more efficiently and for a longer duration.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, it comprises a UVC button (6) which enables one to activate or stop the UVC light source (3) by means of establishing or interrupting the energy connection of said UVC light source (3) with the battery (8).
The main embodiment of the inventive protective equipment comprises a battery (8) that supplies the energy required for operating said turbine (1 ) and the UVC light source (3).
A preferred embodiment of the invention comprises a charge input (9) that allows for charging said battery (8). Preferably, said charge input (9) is USB (Universal Serial Bus) type.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said turbine (1 ) comprises an opening (4) which enables to discharge of the microorganisms from the chamber (2) which are weakened or killed with UVC light source (3) by means of the received airflow. Said opening (4) enables to discharge of the weakened or killed microorganisms from the chamber (2) downwardly with a 45-degree angle by inclining the same 45 degrees from the vertical lowest point of the chamber (2). Thus, the weakened or killed microorganisms will not accumulate in front of the protective equipment. Moreover, when the user wears the protective equipment on his/her head, an area cleaned from the viruses in front of him/her is provided and he/she is provided to breathe the air in this area. A micro protection mechanism operates from the forehead portion to the inlet of the respiratory tract of the user by means of the protective equipment. It is detected that the
microorganisms which are in front of the protective equipment up to 6 meters are neutralized. The protective equipment protects the user by means of weakening or destroying the invisible microorganisms.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, there is an electronic circuit (7) that enables to complete the activation of said turbine button (5), UVC button (6), or charge input (9) with electronic connections by integrating these with the protective equipment.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, there is a removable face shield (10) which is mounted in front of the protective equipment, enables to protect the face of the user from the viruses and a headpiece (11 ) enables the user to attach the protective equipment to his/her head. Thus, the user can go out in a safe manner by wearing the inventive protective equipment.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said face shield (10) may be partially or completely transparent, black or any color. Moreover, it may be partially or completely coated or colored with a layer that prevents the transmission of the sunlight. Thus, protective equipment is provided which enables weakening or killing microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc. within the environment by means of trapping and weakening the same by ultraviolet light.
