The dimensions of this motorcycle causes it is easy to cross narrow and narrow alleys and is used in urban traffic or remote areas with low facilities. While in our proposed plan, patients’ transportation is also considered. In contrast to the currently available fleet of motorcycle ambulances which are gasoline-based and pollute the environment, our invention utilizes electrical engines.
An invention patent titled “Patient Transport Vehicle” has issued with ID No. of 20100213731. This invention is a medical transporting motorcycle with two to three wheels and consists of a horizontal platform that is placed between the wheels and extends from the rear wheels to the front wheels. This motorcycle has the capacity of two people including the patient and the driver. This vehicle provides safe and stable transportation of the patient, in a way that the driver will have a complete field of view of his surroundings. Another invention patent has issued in china with the ID of cn105292336a that is inapplicable due to its abnormal dimensions, an unstable center of gravity, unsafe patients’ transportation in bad weather conditions, and not equipped with emergency medical supplies.
Another invention patent titled “Powered Patient Transport Vehicle” has issued with the ID No. of 8113305. This invention equipped with enhanced movement control and consists of an extended frame, which encloses the whole vehicle. The wheel is located at the outset of the frame and the engine rotates the gears with the differential gearbox. An electrical control consists of a control lever for controlling velocity, direction, and the brakes of the engine. A chair has installed for passenger transportation, from which a steering strip has attached to provide control over the vehicle. This motorized invention is for carrying patients but has no driver and its destinations are usually short, which will make it more suitable to be used in hospitals. While our motorcycle ambulance is a fully-equipped ambulance and is suitable for patient transportation in long distances.
One of the most important medical issues nowadays, is the on-time transportation of injured and ill people to the hospital, since any delay in their transportation may lead to death. In some old narrow streets and alleyways, motorcycles can be of great help by being able to easily cross those narrow paths and starting treatment immediately, where typical ambulances can’t access. From the reasons for the delay, heavy traffic in the streets can be mentioned, which motorcycles can pass through without any problems. In addition to the heavy traffic, in some old narrow streets and alleyways, motorcycles can be of great help by being able to easily cross those narrow paths and starting treatment immediately, where typical ambulances can’t access.
Also, many natural and unnatural disasters annually occur in our country, such as road accidents, floods, earthquakes, droughts, etc. which all of them may have their own magnitudes. To be prepared for such disasters, be able to prevent them, and reduce casualties, we need to think of relief provision solutions ahead of time. Since many regions in our country are remote, in case of disasters like earthquakes, roads connecting them to large urban areas are subject to landslides which will disrupt relief provision. This may lead to delayed relief provision. The motorcycle ambulance however, is able to cross such harsh environments and reach those remote places in time. Also, since they’re cheap, many of them can be dispatched at once, solving the ambulance shortage issue. The goal of this invention is to solve the mentioned issues, and since these motorcycles are electrical, they do not pollute the environment, reducing air pollution as well as the heavy traffic.
Solution of problem
This vehicle is a fully-electrical ambulance (a medical transporting vehicle) at the size of a motorcycle, which has three wheels and each of them is considered individual electrical motors that gain their thrusts from a large power supply (battery) that is located at the upper middle of the vehicle. Two wheels are located at the far end of the vehicle and one is located in front of it. There’s a large space between the wheels so that a stretcher and the patient can be placed there. Also, all essential equipment of an ambulance (central oxygen capsule, suction, defibrillator, ventilator, pulse oximeter, etc.) can be stored in this vehicle. This vehicle has the capacity of a patient on a stretcher, the driver, and a passenger (doctor’s assistant), and is the best vehicle for relief provision in high-traffic urban areas or remote regions with low equipment since it has better control over uneven and harsh environments due to its three-wheel drive availability. Its dimensions are as follows: length=245cm, width=85cm, height=145cm (with the maximum height of the patient being 190cm).
Because of the layout of the wheels (two of them at the back and one in the front), utilization of the brushless electric engine, and its battery thrust source, it can provide spacious space for storing full medical supplies, carrying an injured person on a stretcher, a driver, and a doctor’s assistant. Gasoline-based motorcycles can’t be very spacious since the engine and the thrust system is large. Also, unlike their electric counterparts, they are very noisy. In this motorcycle, full safety can be provided for the injured person and all the standard equipment of an ambulance can also be stored within it. Its dimensions, equivalent to a typical emergency motorcycle, has led it to be able to easily pass through heavy traffic and narrow paths to reach its destinations much faster, and thanks to its three-wheel drive, harsh road conditions like sandy, muddy, snowy, and frozen paths can be crossed without any problem.
Having a dedicated space for its large power source (battery), this electrical vehicle is capable of crossing large-span areas and can provide comfortable transportation for its passengers. Another advantage of having this battery is that it can provide the needed power for the medical supplies stored within it, like the defibrillator, suction, ventilator, etc. which in return, will result in the reduced bulkiness of those medical supplies, no need for checking their power source regularly and reduced costs in overall. Due to the fact that this motorcycle is electronic, it is not polluted and is not harmful to the environment.
Due to its low cost, it can replace many existing ambulances.

Claims (11)

  1. What claims to be the electric motorcycle ambulance consists of a large power source (battery), three wheels with brushless electric motors, chairs, rear doors, a stretcher, an emergency medical and supply box, a ventilation system, and a dedicated space for storing medical supplies.
  2. According to the claim 1, the dimensions of this motorcycle are as follows: length=245 cm, width=85 cm, and height=145 cm (with the maximum height of the patient being 190 cm).
  3. According to the claim 1, this vehicle has the capacity of three passengers (the driver, the doctor’s assistant, and the patient) and is used in urban areas as well as remote places with low to no provisions.
  4. According to the claim 1, this vehicle is fully electrical and consists of three electric-motor wheels that supply their power from a large power source (battery), which is located in the upper middle of the vehicle.
  5. According to the claim 4, being three-wheel drive and thrust transfer to each individual wheel, this vehicle can cross many harsh and slippery (sandy, muddy, snowy, frozen) environments.
  6. According to the claim 1, there’s a large space between the rear and the front wheels, which is suitable for placing a stretcher and all essential medical supplies, equivalent to the supplies of an ambulance.
  7. According to the claim 6, inside this vehicle, a central oxygen capsule, suction, defibrillator, ventilator, pulse oximeter, etc. can be found.
  8. According to the claim 7, the oxygen capsule is located in the middle of its frame and can be replaced from a side door.
  9. According to the claim 7, for air circulation, a filtered vent is provided at the top of the right rear wheel.
  10. According to the claim 7, for having a suitable cabin temperature in the hot or cold season, a heater or an air conditioner can be used inside the compartment.
