Abstract
本発明は、複数の発光素子上に光束制御部材を配置するようにして実装時のハンドリング性を良好にしつつ、複数の発光素子からの光をより適切に配光することができる光束制御部材を提供することに関する。光束制御部材は、複数の発光素子から出射された光をそれぞれ入射させるための複数の入射ユニットと、複数の入射ユニットの間に配置され、複数の入射ユニットで入射した光を導光しながら出射させる出射ユニットと、を有する。複数の入射ユニットは、入射面と、入射面で入射した光を、基板に沿う方向に反射させる第1反射面と、を有する。出射ユニットは、基板と対向するように配置され、入射ユニットからの光を反射させる第2出射面と、第2出射面と対向して配置され、入射ユニットからの光を出射させる第1出射面と、第2出射面と出射面との間を進む光が第1出射面から出射することを促進するための出射促進部とを有する。
Description
本発明は、発光素子から出射された光の配光を制御する光束制御部材、当該光束制御部材を有する発光装置、当該発光装置を有する面光源装置、および当該面光源装置を有する表示装置に関する。
液晶表示装置などの透過型画像表示装置では、近年、光源として複数の発光素子を有する、直下型の面光源装置が使用されている。また、発光素子は広い範囲に光を照射するために数多く配置されることがある。
特許文献1は多数の発光素子上に配置されるのに適した光束制御部材(マイクロアレイレンズ)を開示している。このマイクロアレイレンズでは多数のレンズが支持プレートによって連なっており、基板に配置された多数の発光素子(ミニLED)上に1つのマイクロアレイレンズが配置される。このようにすることで個々の発光素子上に個々のレンズを配置する必要がなく、実装時のハンドリング性が良好になり実装が容易になる。
上記のような光束制御部材(マイクロアレイレンズ)は実装時のハンドリング性が良好であるものの、発光素子からの光を所望通りに配光しようとすると光束制御部材が厚いものになってしまうことがある。その結果、面光源装置も厚いものになってしまうことがある。
本発明は上記事情に鑑みてなされたものであり、複数の発光素子上に1つの光束制御部材を配置するようにして実装時のハンドリング性を良好にしつつ、複数の発光素子からの光をより適切に配光することができる光束制御部材を提供することを目的とする。
また、本発明は上記の光束制御部材を有する発光装置、面光源装置および表示装置を提供することを目的とする。
本発明の光束制御部材は、基板上に配置された複数の発光素子から出射された光の配光を制御するための光束制御部材であって、前記複数の発光素子から出射された光をそれぞれ入射させるための複数の入射ユニットと、前記基板に沿う方向において前記複数の入射ユニットの間に配置され、前記複数の入射ユニットで入射した光を導光しながら出射させる複数の出射ユニットと、を有し、前記複数の入射ユニットは、それぞれ前記光束制御部材の裏側に配置され、前記発光素子から出射された光を入射させる入射面と、前記光束制御部材の表側において前記入射面を挟んで前記発光素子と対向する位置に配置され、前記入射面で入射した光を前記発光素子の光軸から離れるように側方方向に反射させる第1反射面と、を有し、前記複数の出射ユニットは、それぞれ前記光束制御部材の裏側に配置され、前記入射ユニットからの光の一部を反射させ、他の一部を出射させる第2出射面と、前記光束制御部材の表側において前記第2出射面と対向して配置され、前記入射ユニットからの光の一部を反射させ、他の一部を出射させる第1出射面と、前記第1出射面および前記第2出射面のうちの少なくとも一方に配置され、前記第1出射面と前記第2出射面との間を進む光が出射することを促進するための出射促進部と、を有し、前記出射促進部は、到達した光の進行方向を変更させる傾斜面を含む光線方向変更部を含む。
本発明の発光装置は、基板上に配置された複数の発光素子と、前記複数の発光素子の上に配置された、上記の光束制御部材と、を有する。
本発明の面光源装置は、複数の、上記の発光装置と、前記複数の発光装置から出射された光を拡散させつつ透過させる光拡散板と、を有する。
本発明の表示装置は、上記の面光源装置と、前記面光源装置から出射された光を照射される表示部材と、を有する。
本発明によれば、複数の発光素子上に1つの光束制御部材を配置するようにして実装時のハンドリング性を良好にしつつ、複数の発光素子からの光をより適切に配光することができる光束制御部材を提供することができる。
また、本発明によれば、上記の光束制御部材を有する発光装置、面光源装置および表示装置を提供することができる。
以下、本発明の実施の形態について、図面を参照して詳細に説明する。以下の説明では、本発明に係る面光源装置の代表例として、液晶表示装置のバックライトなどに適する面光源装置について説明する。これらの面光源装置は、面光源装置からの光を照射される表示部材102(例えば液晶パネル)と組み合わせることで、表示装置100’として使用されうる(図1B参照)。
[実施の形態1]
(面光源装置および発光装置の構成)
図1A、1Bは、本発明の実施の形態1に係る面光源装置100の構成を示す図である。図1Aは、平面図であり、図1Bは、正面図である。図2Aは、図1Bに示されるA-A線の断面図であり、図2Bは、図1Aに示されるB-B線の断面図であり、図2Cは、発光素子220と光束制御部材300との位置関係を示す部分拡大平面図である。図3は、図2Bの一部を拡大した部分拡大断面図である。
(面光源装置および発光装置の構成)
図1A、1Bは、本発明の実施の形態1に係る面光源装置100の構成を示す図である。図1Aは、平面図であり、図1Bは、正面図である。図2Aは、図1Bに示されるA-A線の断面図であり、図2Bは、図1Aに示されるB-B線の断面図であり、図2Cは、発光素子220と光束制御部材300との位置関係を示す部分拡大平面図である。図3は、図2Bの一部を拡大した部分拡大断面図である。
図1A~3に示されるように、本実施の形態に係る面光源装置100は、筐体110、複数の発光装置200および光拡散板120を有する。複数の発光装置200は、筐体110の底板112上に格子状(マトリックス状)に配置されている。底板112の内面は、拡散反射面として機能する。また、筐体110の天板114には、開口部が設けられている。光拡散板120は、この開口部を塞ぐように配置されており、発光面として機能する。発光面の大きさは、特に限定されないが、例えば約400mm×約700mmである。
図3に示されるように、発光装置200は、基板210上に固定されている。基板210は、筐体110の底板112上の所定の位置に固定されている。発光装置200は、発光素子220および光束制御部材300を有している。
発光素子220は、面光源装置100の光源であり、基板210上に実装されている。発光素子220は、例えば白色発光ダイオードなどの発光ダイオード(LED)である。また、発光素子220の種類は、特に制限されないが、天面および側面から光を出射する発光素子220(例えば、COB型発光ダイオード)などが、本発明の実施の形態に係る発光装置200において好適に用いられる。発光素子220のサイズは、特に制限されないが、0.1mm~0.6mmであることが好ましい。また、0.1mm~0.3mmであることがより好ましい。本発明において、より小さいLEDを用いる方が、より適切に配光でき、色むらの少ない光学制御部材を得ることができる。
光束制御部材300は、発光素子220から出射された光の配光を制御する光学部材であり、基板210上に固定されている。この後説明するように、光束制御部材300は、複数の入射ユニット310を有し、光束制御部材300は、各入射ユニット310(入射面320)の中心軸CAが各発光素子220の光軸LAに一致するように、複数の発光素子220の上に配置されている。なお、本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材300において、光束制御部材300の入射ユニット310(入射面320および第1反射面321)は回転対称である。この入射ユニット310の回転軸を「入射ユニット310、入射面320または第1反射面321の中心軸CA」という。また、「発光素子220の光軸LA」とは、発光素子220からの立体的な出射光束の中心の光線を意味する。発光素子220が実装された基板210と光束制御部材300の裏面との間には、発光素子220から発せられる熱を外部に逃がすための隙間が形成されていてもよいし、形成されていなくてもよい。
光束制御部材300は、一体成形により形成されている。光束制御部材300の材料は、所望の波長の光を通過させ得る材料であれば特に限定されない。たとえば、光束制御部材300の材料は、ポリメタクリル酸メチル(PMMA)やポリカーボネート(PC)、エポキシ樹脂(EP)などの光透過性樹脂、またはガラスである。
本実施の形態に係る面光源装置100は、光束制御部材300の構成に主たる特徴を有する。そこで、光束制御部材300については、別途詳細に説明する。
光拡散板120は、光拡散性を有する板状の部材であり、発光装置200からの出射光を拡散させつつ透過させる。通常、光拡散板120は、液晶パネルなどの表示部材とほぼ同じ大きさである。たとえば、光拡散板120は、ポリメタクリル酸メチル(PMMA)、ポリカーボネート(PC)、ポリスチレン(PS)、スチレン・メチルメタクリレート共重合樹脂(MS)などの光透過性樹脂により形成される。光拡散性を付与するため、光拡散板120の表面に微細な凹凸が形成されているか、または光拡散板120の内部にビーズなどの光拡散子が分散している。
本実施の形態に係る面光源装置100では、各発光素子220から出射された光は、光束制御部材300により光拡散板120の広範囲を照らすように拡げられる。各光束制御部材300から出射された光は、さらに光拡散板120により拡散される。その結果、本実施の形態に係る面光源装置100は、面状の表示部材(例えば液晶パネル)を均一に照らすことができる。
図2Aおよび図2Cに示されるように、本実施の形態において、複数の発光素子220および複数の発光装置200は、いずれも格子状にかつ互いに離間して配置されている。そして隣り合う発光装置200の間隔L1は、複数の発光素子220の中心間距離L2の半分よりも小さくしてもよい。ここで「複数の発光素子220の中心間距離L2」とは、異なる発光装置200に属する2つの発光素子220の中心間距離を意味する。このようにすることで光束制御部材300によって光がより広く導光され、発光装置200の間が暗くなることを抑制することができる。
また、隣り合う発光装置200間には隙間が存在し、発光装置200同士は接しないように配置されていることも重要である。隙間を空けて配置しないと、端部から出射した光が隣接する光束制御部材の端部に入射したり、端部で反射したりして、拡散板上の発光品位に悪影響を及ぼしてしまう。
(光束制御部材の構成)
図4Aは実施の形態1に係る光束制御部材300の平面図であり、図4Bは光束制御部材300の底面図であり、図4Cは光束制御部材300の斜視図である。図5Aは図4AのA-A線の断面図であり、図5Bは図4AのB-B線の断面図であり、図5Cは図4AのC-C線の断面図であり、図5Dは図5Aの部分拡大図である。以下、実施の形態1に係る光束制御部材300の構成について説明する。

本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材300は、基板210上に配置された複数の発光素子220から出射された光の配向を制御するための光束制御部材300であって、複数の入射ユニット310と、出射ユニット330とを有する。複数の入射ユニット310は、発光素子220の配列に対応して格子状に配置されている。出射ユニット330は、基板210に沿う方向において複数の入射ユニット310の間に配置されている。
複数の入射ユニット310は、発光素子220から出射された光をそれぞれ入射させる。入射ユニット310は、発光素子220から出射された光を入射させる入射面320と、入射面320で入射した光を出射ユニット330に向けて反射させる第1反射面321とを有する。
入射面320は、光束制御部材300の裏側に配置され、発光素子220と対向する位置に形成されている凹部の内面である。入射面320は、発光素子220から出射された光の大部分を、その進行方向を制御しつつ光束制御部材300の内部に入射させる。入射面320は、発光素子220の光軸LAと交わり、光軸LAに対して回転対称(円対称)である。入射面320の形状は、特に限定されず、入射面320で入射した光が第1反射面321および第1出射面333に向かうように設定される。本実施の形態では、入射面320は、発光素子220の光軸LAから離れるにつれて基板210からの距離が徐々に長くなり、その後発光素子220の光軸LAから離れるにつれて基板210からの距離が徐々に短くなるような形状である。
第1反射面321は、光束制御部材300の表側において入射面320を挟んで発光素子220と対向する位置に配置され、入射面320で入射した光を発光素子220の光軸LAから離れるように側方方向に反射させる。ここで、側方方向とは、光束制御部材の外縁方向を意味しているのではなく、光軸を中心に360°径方向の外へ向かうことを意味する。
このようにすることで、第1反射面321は、入射面320で入射した光が上方に抜けるのを抑制して発光素子220の直上に明部が発生するのを防ぐとともに、発光素子220間に光を導いて発光素子220間に暗部が発生するのも防ぐ。第1反射面321の形状は入射面320から入射した光を側方に反射させることができれば特に制限されない。第1反射面321は、たとえば、発光素子220の光軸LAに対して回転対称(円対称)であり、かつ、発光素子220の光軸LAから離れるにつれて表側に向かう(基板210から離れる)ように構成されていてもよい。
この回転対称の中心部分から外周部分にかけての母線は、発光素子220の光軸に対して傾斜した曲線または直線である。第1反射面321は、入射面320の中心軸CAを回転軸として、この母線を360°回転させた状態の凹面である。本実施の形態では、この母線は、直線である。
図5Dに示されるように、第1反射面321は、その中心部と外縁とを結ぶように配置された複数の凸条390を有してもよい。各凸条390は、第1傾斜面391と、第1傾斜面391と対に配置された第2傾斜面392と、第1傾斜面391および第2傾斜面392の境界線である凸条の稜線393を有する。複数の凸条390は、凸条390と隣接する凸条390との間に谷部が形成されるように配置される。
第1反射面321がこのような凸条390を有することにより、入射面320で入射した光がより反射されて、光が上方に抜けてしまうことをより抑制することができる。
本発明において、入射面320および前記第1反射面321は、それぞれ凹部の内面であり、平面視したときに、前記入射面を構成する凹部の開口縁の面積に対して、前記第1反射面を構成する凹部の開口縁の面積は、0.5倍~2.0倍であることが好ましい。また、0.5倍~1.5倍であることがより好ましく、0.5倍~1.3倍であることが特に好ましい。このように、入射面に対する第1反射面の大きさが、従来の全反射レンズよりも小さい。これは、本発明において、発光素子の中心から出射され前記入射面に入射した光は、前記第1反射面だけではなく、第1出射面にも到達するように設計していることに起因する。
出射ユニット330は、複数の入射ユニット310で入射した光を導光しながら出射させる。本実施の形態では、4つの入射ユニット310が仮想四角形の各角に配置されているとした場合、光束制御部材300は、仮想四角形の4つの辺に対応する位置にそれぞれ各辺に沿うように配置されている4つの出射ユニット330と、仮想四角形に取り囲まれるように配置されている1つの出射ユニット330とを有している。各出射ユニット330は、図5A~Cに示されるように、光束制御部材300の裏側に配置され、入射ユニット310の第1反射面321からの光を反射させる第2出射面332を有する。また、出射ユニット330は、光束制御部材300の表側において第2出射面332と対向して配置され、入射ユニット310からの光の一部を反射させ、他の一部を出射させる第1出射面333を有する。
また、出射ユニット330は、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間を進む光が出射することを促進するための出射促進部340を有する。出射促進部340は、第2出射面332および第1出射面333のうちの少なくとも一方に配置されている。
本実施の形態では、図5A~Cに示されるように、出射促進部340は、第1出射面333に形成されており、第1出射面333と第2出射面332との間隔は、入射ユニット310から離れるほど小さくなっている。このような構成により、入射ユニット310から導びかれた光は入射ユニット310から離れるほど第1出射面333から出射されやすくなる。
第1出射面333の形状は、特に制限されない。本実施の形態では、前記仮想四角形の4つの辺に対応する位置に配置されている4つの第1出射面333は、前記仮想四角形の辺に沿う方向では曲率を有し、この辺に垂直な方向では曲率を有しない凹面である(図5A~C参照)。一方、前記仮想四角形に取り囲まれるように配置されている第1出射面333は、上下逆に配置された円錐台の上底および側面の一部により構成される凹面である(図5B、図5C参照)。
なお、出射促進部340の構成は、上記機能を発揮することができれば、上記の例に限定されない。たとえば、出射促進部340は、第2出射面332および第1出射面333のうちの少なくとも1つに配置された、凹面、粗面、フレネル面、溝および貫通孔からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つ以上であってもよい。
出射促進部340が第2出射面332または第1出射面333に形成された凹面の場合、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間隔が入射ユニット310から離れるほど小さくなるため、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間を進む光が第1出射面333から出射されやすくなる。出射促進部340が第2出射面332に形成された粗面の場合、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間を進む光が、当該粗面において正反射ではなく乱反射するため、第1出射面333から出射されやすくなる。出射促進部340が第1出射面333に形成された粗面の場合、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間を進む光が、当該粗面において正反射ではなく拡散透過するため、第1出射面333から出射されやすくなる。出射促進部340が第2出射面332に形成されたフレネル面または溝の場合、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間を進む光が、当該フレネル面または当該溝を構成する面において第1出射面333における入射角が小さくなるように第1出射面333に向けて反射されるため、第1出射面333から出射されやすくなる。出射促進部340が第1出射面333に形成されたフレネル面または溝の場合、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間を進む光が、当該フレネル面または当該フレネル面を構成する面において出射されるため、第1出射面333から出射されやすくなる。出射促進部340が第2出射面332と第1出射面333とに開口する貫通孔の場合、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間を進む光が、当該貫通孔を構成する面において出射されるため、第1出射面333から出射されやすくなる。
図6A~図9Bは、出射促進部340の変形例を示すための光束制御部材300の図である。これらの図では、入射ユニット310の第1反射面321が凸条390を有していない光束制御部材300を示している。

図10Aは、発光装置200の光路図である。図10Aに示されるように、発光素子220から出射された光は、入射面320で光束制御部材300に入射する。入射面320で入射した光の一部は、直接出射ユニット330に向かい、他の一部は第1反射面321で反射されて出射ユニット330に向かう。出射ユニット330に到達した光は、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間で繰り返し反射されて出射ユニット330内を導光される。このとき、第1出射面333に到達した光の一部は、反射されずに第1出射面333から出射される。

このように、出射ユニット330に到達した光は、出射ユニット330の第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間を進みつつ、徐々に第1出射面333から出射される。ここで、出射ユニット330は、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間隔が入射ユニット310から離れるほど小さくなる出射促進部340を有する。これにより、入射ユニット310から離れるほど、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間を進む光が第1出射面333から出射されやすくなる。
図10Bは光束制御部材300の端部における配光を示す。図10Bに示されるように光束制御部材300の端部の断面形状は矩形状でも、面取りした形状でもよい。すなわち、光束制御部材300の表側の外縁は、面取りされていてもよい。面取りした形状としては、例えば、R面取り、C面(傾斜面)取り等が挙げられる。光束制御部材300の端部の断面形状を面取りする場合、発光装置間に位置する拡散板の広い領域を照射することが可能であり、隙間が存在する発光装置200の間が暗くなってしまうことを防ぐことができる。

これらの結果から、本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材300は、各発光素子220から出射された光を拡げて、各発光素子220に対応する領域を略均一に照らせることがわかる。一方で、本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材300は、各発光素子220からの光を過度に混和させることなく、当該発光素子220に対応する領域に到達させることもわかる。
上記のように本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材300によれば、発光素子220からの光をある程度拡げつつも光が拡がりすぎることが抑制され、各発光素子220に対応付けられた所定の領域の照度のみを上げること(ローカルディミング)が容易である。これは、光束制御部材300においては、第2出射面332と第1出射面333との間隔が入射ユニットから離れるほど小さくなる出射促進部があり、ある発光素子220から出射された光が出射ユニット330を通って他の発光素子220(隣接する発光素子220)にまで到達しにくいためである。
図12Aは2つの発光装置200が並べられた状態を示す。図12Bは図12Aのように2つの発光装置200が並べられた状態で、左側の発光装置200の4個の発光素子220を点灯した場合の照度分布を示す。図12Bの下のグラフは、2個の発光装置200の上の4個の発光素子220の発光中心を通る横方向の照度分布を示し、右のグラフは、左の発光装置200の右の2個の発光素子220の発光中心を通る縦方向の照度分布を示す。
この結果からわかるように、左の発光装置200からの光は左の発光装置200上にしか拡がっていない。つまり、本実施の形態に係る発光装置200によれば、隣接した発光装置200にまで光が拡がらない。
(効果)
本実施の形態の光束制御部材300によれば、基板210と光拡散板120との間隔が狭い場合であっても、複数の発光素子220からの光を過度に拡がるのを抑制しつつ適切な範囲で拡げることができる。したがって、本発明はローカルディミングに有効である。また、本発明によれば複数の発光素子220からの光を1つの光束制御部材300で制御することが可能であるため、光束制御部材300の実装が容易になる。

このように、本発明において、光学制御部材の形状は特に限定されず、正方形状、長方形状、円形状、八角形状等が挙げられる。例えば、各入射ユニット間に切り欠き部を形成して、光を制御することも可能である。
また、本発明において、光学制御部材に脚部を有することが好ましい。脚部を有することで、発光素子による熱がこもることを防ぐことや、基板に接着する時の接着剤の光学的な影響を減らすことを可能にできる。
[実施の形態2]
実施の形態2に係る面光源装置は、光束制御部材600の構成のみが実施の形態1に係る面光源装置100と異なる。そこで、実施の形態2では、光束制御部材600の構成についてのみ説明する。また、実施の形態1に係る光束制御部材300と同様の構成については、同じ符号を付してその説明を省略する。

本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材600は、基板210上に配置された複数の発光素子220から出射された光の配向を制御するための光束制御部材600であって、複数の入射ユニット610と、出射ユニット630とを有する。複数の入射ユニット610は、発光素子220の配列に対応して格子状に配置されている。出射ユニット630は、基板210に沿う方向において複数の入射ユニット610の間に配置されている。
複数の入射ユニット610は、発光素子220から出射された光をそれぞれ入射させる。入射ユニット610は、発光素子220から出射された光を入射させる入射面620と、入射面320で入射した光を出射ユニット330に向けて反射させる第1反射面621とを有する。
入射面620は、光束制御部材600の裏側に配置され、発光素子220と対向する位置に形成されている凹部の内面である。入射面620は、発光素子220から出射された光の大部分を、その進行方向を制御しつつ光束制御部材300の内部に入射させる。入射面620は、発光素子220の光軸LAと交わり、光軸LAに対して回転対称(円対称)である。本実施の形態では、入射面620を構成する凹部は、大きな浅い凹部の中央部に小さな深い凹部を配置した形状を有している。中央部の小さな凹部は、発光素子220の光軸LAから離れるにつれて基板210からの距離が徐々に短くなる形状であり、この小さな凹部により構成される入射面620の一部は、発光素子220から光軸LAに対して小さな角度で出射された光が第1反射面621の中央部以外の領域にも向かうように発光素子220からの光を制御する。小さな凹部の周囲に位置する大きな凹部は、発光素子220の光軸LAから離れてもしばらくは基板210からの距離が略一定であり、その後徐々に短くなるような形状であり、この大きな凹部により構成される入射面620の一部は、発光素子220から光軸LAに対して大きな角度で出射された光が第1出射面633に向かうように発光素子220からの光を制御する。
第1反射面621は、光束制御部材600の表側において入射面620を挟んで発光素子220と対向する位置に配置され、入射面620で入射した光を発光素子220の光軸LAから離れるように側方方向に反射させる。本実施の形態では、第1反射面621は、発光素子220の光軸LAに対して回転対称(円対称)であり、かつ、発光素子220の光軸LAから離れるにつれて表側に向かうように構成されている。本実施の形態では、この回転対称の中心部分から外周部分にかけての母線は、発光素子220の光軸LAから離れるにつれて光軸LAに対する角度が大きくなる曲線である。第1反射面621は、入射面620の中心軸CAを回転軸として、この母線を360°回転させた状態の凹面である。本実施の形態では、第1反射面621は、その中心部と外縁とを結ぶように配置された複数の凸条を有していない。
本実施の形態では、入射面620および第1反射面621は、発光素子220の中心から出射された光が入射面620で入射し、第1反射面621で反射された後、出射ユニット630の第1出射面633に到達するように構成されている。
出射ユニット630は、複数の入射ユニット610で入射した光を導光しながら出射させる。本実施の形態では、4つの入射ユニット610が仮想四角形の各角に配置されているとした場合、光束制御部材600は、仮想四角形の4つの辺に対応する位置にそれぞれ各辺に沿うように配置されている4つの出射ユニット630と、仮想四角形に取り囲まれるように配置されている1つの出射ユニット630とを有している。各出射ユニット630は、光束制御部材600の裏側に配置され、入射ユニット610からの光を反射させる第2出射面632を有する。また、出射ユニット630は、光束制御部材600の表側において第2出射面632と対向して配置され、入射ユニット610からの光の一部を反射させ、他の一部を出射させる第1出射面633と、第2出射面632と第1出射面633との間を進む光が第1出射面633から出射することを促進するための出射促進部340とを有する。
本実施の形態では、第2出射面632は平面である(図15B参照)。また、前記仮想四角形の4つの辺に対応する位置に配置されている4つの第1出射面633は、前記仮想四角形の辺に沿う方向では曲率を有し、この辺に垂直な方向では曲率を有しない凹面である(図15C参照)。一方、前記仮想四角形に取り囲まれるように配置されている第1出射面633は、上下逆に配置された円錐台の上底および側面の一部により構成される凹面である(図15A、図15C、図16B参照)。
前述のとおり、複数の入射ユニット610は、発光素子220の配列に対応して格子状に配置されている。そして、格子の対角方向において隣接する2つの入射ユニット610の間に配置されている出射ユニット630における出射促進部340は、凹面である(図16B参照)。また、格子の辺方向において隣接する2つの入射ユニット610の間に配置されている出射ユニット630における出射促進部340は、凹面または溝である。本実施の形態では、格子の辺方向において隣接する2つの入射ユニット610の間に配置されている出射ユニット630における出射促進部は、凹面である。
また、本実施の形態では、光束制御部材300の表側の外縁は、R面取りされている(図10B参照)。
(配光)
本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材600においても、発光素子220から出射された光は、入射面620で光束制御部材600に入射する。入射面620で入射した光の一部は、直接出射ユニット630に向かい、他の一部は第1反射面621で反射されて出射ユニット630に向かう。出射ユニット630に到達した光は、第2出射面632と第1出射面633との間で繰り返し反射されて出射ユニット630内を導光される。このとき、第1出射面633に到達した光の一部は、反射されずに第1出射面633から出射される。
本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材600においても、発光素子220から出射された光は、入射面620で光束制御部材600に入射する。入射面620で入射した光の一部は、直接出射ユニット630に向かい、他の一部は第1反射面621で反射されて出射ユニット630に向かう。出射ユニット630に到達した光は、第2出射面632と第1出射面633との間で繰り返し反射されて出射ユニット630内を導光される。このとき、第1出射面633に到達した光の一部は、反射されずに第1出射面633から出射される。
このように、出射ユニット630に到達した光は、出射ユニット630の第2出射面632と第1出射面633との間を進みつつ、徐々に第1出射面633から出射される。ここで、出射ユニット630は、前述の出射促進部を有する。これにより、入射ユニット610から離れるほど、第2出射面632と第1出射面633との間を進む光が第1出射面633から出射されやすくなる。

光線方向変更部350は、図18Bに示されるように格子の辺方向において隣接する2つの入射ユニット310の間に辺方向に沿って延在する傾斜面351を有する。また、本実施の形態において、図19A、B、Cに示されるように光線方向変更部350は、光束制御部材700の裏側に配置された凹部の内面である。なお、光線方向変更部350は格子の対角方向において隣接する2つの入射ユニット310の間に配置されていてもよい。
光線方向変更部350の傾斜面351は、出射促進部内340を通る光の方向を変更する。より具体的には、傾斜面351は、光束制御部材700を平面視したときに光束制御部材700の辺方向に進む光を前記辺から離れる方向に反射させる。図20A、Bは、光線方向変更部350の傾斜面351によって光線の方向が変更される様子を説明するための図である。図20Aは比較のために出射促進部340が光線方向変更部350を有さない場合を示し、図20Bは出射促進部340が光線方向変更部350を有する場合を示す。なお、図20A、Bは光束制御部材700を平面視したときの出射促進部340を示し、図20Bの破線は光束制御部材300の裏側に配置された光線方向変更部350を示し、図20Cは図20BのC-C線に沿う断面図を概略的に示す図である。
ここでは、図20Bに示されるように、光線方向変更部350の2つの傾斜面351によって形成される稜線352が、2つの入射ユニット310の中心を結ぶ線よりも光束制御部材700の中心側にある例を示す。また、図20Cに示されるように、光線方向変更部350は、光束制御部材700の中心側から外側に向かうにつれて基板からの距離が遠くなるように傾斜する傾斜面351と、光束制御部材700の内側から外側に向かうにつれて基板からの距離が近くなるように傾斜する傾斜面351とを有する。この2つの傾斜面351の頂部によって稜線352が形成される。
図20Aに示されるように、出射促進部340が光線方向変更部350を有さない場合は、出射促進部340を進む光は、2つの入射ユニット310の間を光束制御部材700の辺方向に沿ってほぼ直線状に進む。一方、図20Bに示されるように、出射促進部340が光線方向変更部350を有する場合は、出射促進部340を進む光は、傾斜面351に当たり、光束制御部材700の外側または中心側に向けて反射される。図20Bでは、光は光束制御部材700の外側に向けて反射されている。
光線方向変更部350の傾斜面351の形状は、どの程度の量の光をどの方向に反射させたいかに合わせて適宜設計されればよい。たとえば、稜線352の位置を光束制御部材700の中心側に移動させると、光線方向変更部350から光束制御部材700の外側に向かう光の量が多くなり、稜線352の位置を光束制御部材700の外側に移動させると、光線方向変更部350から光束制御部材700の中心側に向かう光の量が多くなる。

図21Cは、稜線352が図20Aの例よりさらに外側にあり、光線方向変更部350の中心よりも外側にある例を示す。なお、図21Dは、図21CのD-D線に沿う断面図である。この光線方向変更部350は、図21Aの光線方向変更部350より、光束制御部材700の中心側に向かう光の量をより多くすることができる。
図21A~Dは、光線方向変更部350の稜線352が直線である例を示したが、稜線352は直線に限定されず、光を反射させたい方向などに合わせて適宜設計されれば良い。たとえば、図21E、Fは、稜線352が曲線である例を示す。なお、図21Fは図21EのF-F線に沿う断面図である。
また、図18Aに示されるように、実施の形態3に係る光束制御部材700では、格子の辺方向において隣接する2つの入射ユニット310の間に配置されている出射ユニット330における出射促進部340は、光束制御部材700の表側に配置された第3出射面361および再入射面362を有する。以下、第3出射面361および再入射面362について、図18AのB-B線に沿う断面図である図22を参照しつつ説明する。
図22に示されるように、第3出射面361は、光束制御部材700の表側において第1反射面321に対向するように配置され、実線の矢印で示されるように発光素子220から出射され第1反射面321で側方方向に反射された光を光束制御部材700の外に出射させる。また、図22に示されるように、再入射面362は、光束制御部材700の表側において第1反射面321に対して第3出射面361よりも遠くに配置され、実線で示されるように第3出射面361で出射した光を光束制御部材700の中に光線方向変更部350に向けて再度入射させる。
図22の破線の矢印は、仮に第3出射面361および再入射面362がない場合の光線の進む方向の一例を示す。図22の破線の矢印で示されるように、第3出射面361および再入射面362がない場合、第1反射面321で反射した光は基板と略平行に進むことがあり、光線方向変更部350に当たらず、光の進行方向が変更されにくい。一方、上記したように、第3出射面361および再入射面362がある場合、第1反射面321で反射した光の方向が変更され、光線方向変更部350に当たりやすくなる。

図23A、Bの下側のグラフの比較から、光束制御部材700が光線方向変更部350を有すると、光が光束制御部材700の中心からより外側に広がっていることがわかる。

本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材700は、実施の形態1に係る光束制御部材300の効果に加え、出射促進部340中を進む光の方向を変えて輝度ムラをより改善できるという効果を有する。

図24A~Fは実施の形態4に係る光束制御部材800を示す。図24Aは光束制御部材800の平面図を示し、図24Bは底面図を示し、図24Cは斜視図を示し、図24Dは側面図を示し、図24Eは図24AのE-E線に沿う断面図を示し、図24Fは図24AのF-F線に沿う断面図を示す。

図24B、C、E、Fに示されるように、光束制御部材800は、光束制御部材800の裏側において傾斜面351を有する光線方向変更部350を有する。本実施の形態の場合、光線方向変更部350は光束制御部材800の中心の周りに環状に配置されている。また、これに伴い、傾斜面351も同様に環状に延び、稜線352も環状に延びる(図24B参照)。
また、図24E、Fに示されるように、光束制御部材800は、格子の対角方向において隣接する2つの入射ユニット310の間に配置されている第3出射面361および再入射面362を有する。第3出射面361は、第1反射面321で反射した光を光束制御部材800の外に出射させ、再入射面362は出射した光を再入射させる。
また、図24A~Fに示されるように、光束制御部材800は、その裏側に配置された脚部370を有する。脚部370の位置、数は特に制限されない。
また、図24A~Fに示されるように、光束制御部材800は、その裏側に配置されたゲート部280を有する。ゲート部380の位置、数は特に制限されない。
(照度分布)
図25は、光束制御部材800を用いた場合の面光源装置100の照度分布を示す。ここでは、面光源装置において1個の発光装置に含まれる4個の発光素子220を点灯した場合の光拡散板120上の照度分布を示している。この図において、下側のグラフは、上の2個の発光素子220と下の2個の発光素子220との間における横方向の照度分布を示し、右側のグラフは右の2個の発光素子220の発光中心を通る縦方向の照度分布を示す。

図25に示されるように、光束制御部材800は、裏側に多数の出射促進部340を有するため、光束制御部材800の中央部の輝度が向上していることがわかる。

本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材800は、実施の形態3に係る光束制御部材300の効果に加え、中央部の輝度を向上させて輝度ムラをより改善できるという効果を有する。

実施の形態5に係る光束制御部材900は、光線方向変更部350の形状が実施の形態4に係る光束制御部材800と異なり、また光束制御部材800よりさらに多くの裏側に配置された光線方向変更部350を有する。そこで、実施の形態5では、これらの構成を中心に説明する。また、実施の形態5に係る光束制御部材900において、実施の形態4と同様の部材については同じ符号を付してその説明を省略する。

図26B、Cに示されるように、光束制御部材900の光線方向変更部350は、4つの傾斜面351を有する(図26B参照)。2つの傾斜面351は、光束制御部材900の中心から外側に向かう方向において互いに対向しており、残り2つの傾斜面351は、光束制御部材900の辺に沿う方向において互いに対向している。
また、光束制御部材900は裏側の中心の周りに、傾斜面351を有する光線方向変更部350を有する。本実施の形態において、この傾斜面351は光束制御部材900の中心の周りに円状に延びている。また、本実施の形態において光線方向変更部350は稜線を有さず、頂点を有する。
(照度分布)
図27は、光束制御部材900を用いた場合の面光源装置100の照度分布を示す。ここでは、面光源装置において1個の発光装置に含まれる4個の発光素子220を点灯した場合の光拡散板120上の照度分布を示している。この図において、下側のグラフは、上の2個の発光素子220と下の2個の発光素子220との間における横方向の照度分布を示し、右側のグラフは右の2個の発光素子220の発光中心を通る縦方向の照度分布を示す。

本実施の形態に係る光束制御部材900は、実施の形態4に係る光束制御部材300の効果に加え、辺方向に配置された2つの入射ユニット310の間の輝度を向上させることができるという効果を有する。

[光束制御部材の実装方法]
次に、本発明に係る光束制御部材の基板210への実装方法について、光束制御部材300を例として、図28を参照しつつ以下に説明する。

まず、図28の上段に示されるように、基板210上に配置された複数の発光素子220の中心αを決定する。具体的には、格子状に配置された4つの発光素子220の中心αを決定する。中心αを決定する方法は、特に制限されない。たとえば、4つの発光素子220のそれぞれの中心を角とする四角形の対角線の交点を中心αとしてもよいし、この四角形の重心を中心αとしてもよい。
基板210には、実装のためのマークを付与してもよい。マークの場所は特に限定されないが、たとえば、前記中心αに相当する位置に付与することが好ましい。
次に、図28の中段に示されるように、光束制御部材300の中心βを決定する。中心βを決定する方法は、特に制限されない。たとえば、4つの入射ユニット310(第1反射面321)のそれぞれの中心を角とする四角形の対角線の交点を中心βとしてもよいし、この四角形の重心を中心βとしてもよい。
光束制御部材300には、実装のためのマークを付与してもよい。マークの場所は特に限定されないが、たとえば、各反射面や出射促進部でなく平面に付与することが好ましい。
最後に、複数の発光素子220の中心αと、光束制御部材300の中心βとが一致するように、光束制御部材300を基板に実装する。このようにすることで、効率よく光束制御部材300を、複数の発光素子220が配置された基板210に実装することができる。
また、光束制御部材300の平面視における外縁を画像認識し、回転方向の位置合わせに利用することが可能である。

Claims (18)
- 基板上に配置された複数の発光素子から出射された光の配光を制御するための光束制御部材であって、
前記複数の発光素子から出射された光をそれぞれ入射させるための複数の入射ユニットと、
前記基板に沿う方向において前記複数の入射ユニットの間に配置され、前記複数の入射ユニットで入射した光を導光しながら出射させる複数の出射ユニットと、
を有し、
前記複数の入射ユニットは、それぞれ
前記光束制御部材の裏側に配置され、前記発光素子から出射された光を入射させる入射面と、
前記光束制御部材の表側において前記入射面を挟んで前記発光素子と対向する位置に配置され、前記入射面で入射した光を前記発光素子の光軸から離れるように側方方向に反射させる第1反射面と、
を有し、
前記複数の出射ユニットは、それぞれ
前記光束制御部材の裏側に配置され、前記入射ユニットからの光の一部を反射させ、他の一部を出射させる第2出射面と、
前記光束制御部材の表側において前記第2出射面と対向して配置され、前記入射ユニットからの光の一部を反射させ、他の一部を出射させる第1出射面と、
前記第1出射面および前記第2出射面のうちの少なくとも一方に配置され、前記第1出射面と前記第2出射面との間を進む光が出射することを促進するための出射促進部と、
を有し、
前記出射促進部は、到達した光の進行方向を変更させる傾斜面を含む光線方向変更部を含む、
光束制御部材。 - 前記出射促進部は、
前記光束制御部材の表側において前記第1反射面と対向するように配置され、前記第1反射面で側方方向に反射された光を前記光束制御部材の外に出射させるための第3出射面を含む、

- 前記出射促進部は、前記第2出射面および前記第1出射面のうちの少なくとも1つに配置された、凹面、粗面、フレネル面、溝および貫通孔からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つ以上を含む、請求項1または2に記載の光束制御部材。
- 前記光束制御部材の表側の外縁は、面取りした形状である、請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の光束制御部材。
- 前記発光素子の中心から出射され前記入射面に入射した光は、前記第1反射面および第1出射面に到達する、請求項1~4のいずれか一項に記載の光束制御部材。
- 前記入射面および前記第1反射面は、それぞれ凹部の内面であり、
平面視したときに、前記入射面を構成する凹部の開口縁の面積に対して、前記第1反射面を構成する凹部の開口縁の面積は、0.5倍~2.0倍である、請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載の光束制御部材。 - 前記光束制御部材は基板上に格子状に配置されており、格子の対角方向において隣接する2つの前記入射ユニットの間に配置されている前記出射ユニットにおける前記出射促進部は、凹面を含む、請求項1に記載の光束制御部材。
- 前記光束制御部材は基板上に格子状に配置されており、格子の辺方向において隣接する2つの前記入射ユニットの間に配置されている前記出射ユニットにおける前記出射促進部は、凹面または溝を含む、請求項1または8に記載の光束制御部材。
- 前記出射促進部は、
前記光束制御部材の表側において前記第1反射面と対向するように配置され、前記第1反射面で側方方向に反射された光を前記光束制御部材の外に出射させるための第3出射面と、
前記光束制御部材の表側において前記第1反射面に対して前記第3出射面よりも遠くに配置され、前記第3出射面で出射した光を前記光束制御部材の中に前記光線方向変更部に向けて再度入射させる再入射面と、
を含む、請求項1に記載の光束制御部材。 - 前記第1反射面は、前記発光素子の光軸に対して回転対称であり、かつ、前記発光素子の光軸から離れるにつれて表側に向かうように構成されている、請求項1~12のいずれか一項に記載の光束制御部材。
- 前記第1反射面は、その中心部と外縁とを結ぶように配置された複数の凸条を有する、請求項13に記載の光束制御部材。
- 基板上に配置された複数の発光素子と、
