Abstract
The present invention refers to a garment, in particular a shirt, provided with a suitable collar, to reduce discomfort to the cervical area when turning the head backwards; this garment includes a collar (4) whose back (4a) is significantly lower than its front part, so as to fit easily into the fold of the neck between nape and shoulder.
Description
GARMENT, PARTICULARLY A SHIRT, WITH A COLLAR
The present invention refers to a garment particularly a shirt, provided with a suitable collar, to reduce discomfort to the cervical area when the head is rotated backwards.
Shirt collars are frequently provided with a rigid reinforcement designed to maintain a taut appearance of the collar itself, preventing it from creasing. In its front part, this fact is not a problem as there is a large space between chin and chest, so even large rotations of the head do not cause interference with the collar. In its back, however, it happens that, by rotating the head backwards, the collar itself tends to get stuck between shoulder and nape, especially if the collar itself is fastened at its front part and a tie is worn.
The result is that the collar tends to crease. If it is limp, it slightly annoys the wearer, but
it creases easily. If it is rigid, on the other hand, it offers resistance, causing discomfort in the nape of the neck and, if one insists in turning the head back, there is also the risk of damaging the internal part that constitutes the reinforcement.
Object of the present invention is solving the aforementioned prior art problems, by providing a garment, in particular a shirt, as claimed in claim 1, and provides for a collar whose rear part is significantly lower than its front part, so as to fit easily into the fold of the neck, between neck and shoulder.
Also in other garments, such as jackets, vests and coats, the same drawback can be repeated, so that the collar according to the invention can be used advantageously in these cases as well.
Preferred embodiments and non-trivial variants of the present invention are the subject matter of the dependent claims.
It is understood that all enclosed claims are an integral part of the present description.
It will be immediately obvious that innumerable variations and modifications (for example relating to shape, dimensions, arrangements
and parts with equivalent functionality) can be made to what has been described, without departing from the scope of the invention as appears from the attached claims. The present invention will be better described by a preferred embodiment, given by way of non limiting example, with reference to the attached drawings, in which:
- Figs. 1(a, b, c) show the drawback that occurs with a shirt equipped with a known type of collar;
- Fig. 2 shows a shirt provided with a collar according to the present invention;
- Fig. 3 shows how the collar according to the invention overcomes the reported drawback.
Referring to Figs. 1(a, b, c), (1) designates a shirt, provided with a collar (2) of a known type. In the event that the person wearing the shirt (1) holds the head in an upright position (Fig. la), the back of the collar (2) remains adherent to the person's neck or is positioned a few millimeters away from it, without causing interference with the nape of the neck. If the person turns his head forward (Fig. lb), there are still no problems both in the back and in the front
part. In the event that the person turns the head backwards (Fig. lc), the nape of the neck comes in contact with the upper part of the rear edge of the collar (2) and presses on it. The consequence is first of all a nuisance for the person and, subsequently, a premature wear of the collar itself, with consequent economic damage.
As is evident from the attached figure, the problem is felt more by people who have shorter than average necks.
Fig. 2 shows a shirt provided with a collar (4) according to the invention. As shown in the figure, in the front part the collar (4) according to the invention does not substantially differ from a common shirt collar, and therefore it can be shaped like an Italian or French collar, with long or short tips, rounded or not. The difference lies in the rear part (4a) which is significantly lower.
The correct height of the back (4a) of the collar (4) can be indicated as about one centimeter: however, it must be chosen taking into account the features of the person wearing the shirt. A person with a long and tapered neck can also accept a greater height, for example 1.5 ÷ 2 cm, while for a person with a short and stubby neck
it may be necessary to reduce the height to 0.5 cm.
In this way, as shown in Fig. 3, it no longer interferes with the nape of the person wearing the shirt when said person turns the head backwards. As is clear from the above description, the collar (4) according to the invention, in addition to not causing annoyance to the wearer, is no longer subject to creasing or premature wear.
Claims
1. Garment (3), particularly a shirt, characterized in that it has a collar (4) whose back (4a) is significantly lower than its front part, having a height between 0.5 and 2 cm, so that it fits easily into a crease of a neck between nape and shoulder.
2. Garment according to claim 1, characterized in that said rear part (4a) of the collar (4) has a height of 1 centimeter.
