Abstract
A system for carrying out angioplasty comprises a balloon catheter (1) which comprises a balloon (10) that is able to be filled with an electrically conductive fluid and two electrodes (12, 13) arranged in the balloon (10), and an evaluation unit (14) electrically connected to the electrodes (12, 13). In this case, the evaluation unit (14) is embodied to apply at least one excitation signal (U) to the electrodes (12, 13) and to measure at least one measurement signal (I) via the electrodes (12, 13) in order to ascertain impedance values (Z1, Z2) at different frequencies on the basis of the at least one measurement signal (I) and in order to determine a characteristic value correlated with the electrical resistance of the fluid in the balloon (10).
