Abstract

The present invention relates to a refrigerator (1) comprising at least one door (2); at least one door handle (5) which is mounted to the door (2) and which has a grip (3) enabling the door (2) to be opened/closed by being gripped by the user and two support members (4) extending from both ends of the grip towards the side wall of the door (2) and fixed to the door (2); and two retainers (9) which enables the door handle (5) to be mounted to the door (2) and which has at least one locking tongue (8) provided in a recess (6) extending inwards from the side wall of the door (2).

Description

[Title established by the ISA under Rule 37.2] A REFRIGERATOR COMPRISING A DOOR HANDLE
The present invention relates to a door handle which is used for opening/closing refrigerator doors.
The refrigerator door is opened/closed by means of the door handle by the user. The door handle is mounted onto the refrigerator door by means of fixing members such as screw, etc. Especially in embodiments wherein the door handle is mounted onto the vertical side wall of the door by means of support members, it is undesirable for the support members to protrude towards the side of the door. Therefore, the support members which connect the door handle to the door are produced from metal material as thin as possible and fixed to the door by means of screws. However, in this case the screws fixing the door handle to the door remain on the visible surface of the support members, adversely affecting the appearance and the quality perception of the user.
The Patent No. EP2201199 (B1) relates to a door handle which is used on household appliances. The Patent No. DE29624454 (U1) relates to a door handle which is used on furniture doors, especially on refrigerator doors.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a refrigerator comprising a door handle which is mounted to the door without using fixing members such as screws.
The refrigerator realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention comprises at least one door handle which is mounted to the door and which has two support members extending from both ends of the grip towards the side wall of the door and fixed to the door; and two retainers which are fixed to the door in an embedded manner so as to connect the support members and which have at least one resiliently deformable locking tongue provided in a recess extending inwards from the side wall of the door.
The door handle has at least one connecting flange which is provided on each support member and which extends into the recess during the mounting of the door handle to the door so as to be fitted over the locking tongue by means of the locking hole at the center thereof.
The refrigerator realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

The refrigerator (1) comprises at least one door (2) which provides access into the fresh food and freezing compartments; and at least one door handle (5) which is mounted to the door (2) and which has a grip (3) enabling the door (2) to be opened/closed by being gripped by the user and two support members (4) extending from both ends of the grip towards the side wall of the door (2) and fixed to the door (2).
The refrigerator (1) of the present invention comprises
- two retainers (9) which are fixed to the door (2) at the same level as the support member (4) for the connection of the support members (4) and which has a recess (6) extending inwards from the side wall of the door (2) and at least one resiliently deformable locking tongue (8) integrally connected to a base (7) provided in said recess (6), and
- the door handle (5) having at least one connecting flange (11) which is provided on each support member (4) and which extends into the recess (6) during the mounting of the door handle (5) to the door (2) so as to be fitted over the locking tongue (8) by means of a locking hole (10) at the center thereof.
In the refrigerator (1) of the present invention, the two retainers (9) are mounted to the side wall of the door (2) in an embedded manner at the same level as the support members (4) for the mounting of the door handle (5). Each retainer (9) comprises at least one recess (6) and at least one resiliently deformable locking tongue (8) which is provided in said recess (6) and which is integrally connected to a base (7). The connecting flanges (11) on the support members (4) are fitted into the recesses (6), the locking holes (10) are fitted over the locking tongues (8), and thus the door handle (5) interlocks with the retainers (9) to be mounted to the door (2).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the retainer (9) whereto a single support member (4) is connected has two recesses (6) and two locking tongues (8) one above the other, and therefore the support member (4) has two connecting flanges (11) attached to the two locking tongues (8). Each support member (4) is locked and connected to the retainer (9) and hence to the door (2) at two points. Thus, the door handle (5) is fixed to the door at four points, providing a secure connection.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the retainers (9) fixed to the door (2) and/or the connecting flanges (11) fixed to the support members (4) are produced from metal, preferably aluminum alloy.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the retainers (9) fixed to the door (2) and/or the connecting flanges (11) fixed to the support members (4) are produced from plastic or plastic-metal composite material.
In the refrigerator (1) of the present invention, the door handle (5) is snap-fittedly mounted to the door (2) without requiring any fixing members such as screws, etc.

Claims (5)

  1. A refrigerator (1) comprising at least one door (2); and at least one door handle (5) which is mounted to the door (2) and which has a grip (3) enabling the door (2) to be opened/closed by being gripped by the user and two support members (4) extending from both ends of the grip towards the side wall of the door (2) and fixed to the door (2), characterized by
    - two retainers (9) which are fixed to the door (2) at the same level as the support member (4) and which has a recess (6) extending inwards from the side wall of the door (2) and at least one resiliently deformable locking tongue (8) integrally connected to a base (7) provided in said recess (6), and
    - the door handle (5) having at least one connecting flange (11) which is provided on each support member (4) and which extends into the recess (6) during the mounting of the door handle (5) to the door (2) so as to be fitted over the locking tongue (8) by means of a locking hole (10) at the center thereof.
  2. A refrigerator (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by the retainer (9) having two recesses (6) and two locking tongues (8) one above the other and by two support members (4) having two connecting flanges (11).
  3. A refrigerator (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized by the retainers (9) and the connecting flanges (11) which are produced from metal material.
  4. A refrigerator (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized by the retainers (9) and the connecting flanges (11) which are produced from plastic or plastic-metal composite material.
  5. A refrigerator (1) characterized by a retainer (9) and a door handle (5) as in any one of the above claims.
