Description
A MOUNTING ASSEMBLY WITH COLLAPSIBLE FIN
Field of the Invention
The invention relates to a mounting assembly particularly which is used for joining plastic trim parts, and which can be locked by opening with driving force.
Background of the Invention
In the state of the art, bolt/nut connection or welding connection is used to join two surfaces. Furthermore, in the automotive industry, the technique of attaching the parts to each other with ultrasonic welding method such that the parts will not be demounted is applied in securing the plastic parts to each other. Ultrasonic welding machine is a method investment and usage of which is highly expensive. In the state of the art, fasteners that are easily locked and have a simple mode of operation are required for cases where access to the rear surface is not possible or where it is not desired to reach the rear surface.
United States patent document US3233503, an application known in the state of the art, relates to a fastener which is used to join the two parts and comprises two flexibly opening fins and a space between the fins. The joined surfaces can be separated with a backward movement in the said application.
United States patent document US4973212, an application known in the state of the art, relates to a fastener which passes through holes provided on two surfaces and which is secured on a surface with a head member and which is fixed on the other surface by snap-in with its elastic body. The joined surfaces can be separated with a backward movement in the said application.
The Problems Solved with the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide a mounting assembly with a collapsible fin which is used for fixing two surfaces or two parts with a simple and easy mode of operation.
The objective of the present invention is to provide a mounting assembly with a collapsible fin which provides locking without the need to fix the surfaces from the rear sides by means of a collapsible fin structure provided on one surface and hole provided on the other surface.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A mounting assembly with a collapsible fin developed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:
Figure 1 is the side cross-sectional view of mounting assembly with a tab of the present invention.
Figure 2 is the side exploded view of mounting assembly with a tab of the present invention.
Figure 3 is the sequential view of mounting process of mounting assembly with a tab of the present invention.
Figure 4 is perspective view of push member and connection member in mounting assembly with a tab of the present invention.
Figure 5 is the perspective view of A- A section of mounting assembly with a tab of the present invention.
The components given in the figures are individually numbered where the numbers refer to the following:
1. Mounting assembly
2. First surface
21. Hole
22. Push member
23. Cleat
24. Support surface
25. Buffer
3. Second surface
31. Connection member
311. Fin
32. Tab
Mounting assembly (1) which is used for fixing at least two parts to each other comprises
at least one first surface (2) which has at least one hole (21) thereon and comprises at least one push member (22) extending over the hole (21), at least one second surface (3) which comprises a connection member (31) fixed to the first surface (2) and comprised of at least two fins (311) for passing through the hole (21) and which has at least one spacing between the fins (311) so that the push member (22) is placed between the fins (311).
The mounting assembly (1) of the present invention consists of a first surface (2) and a second surface (3) that are used by being mounted to each other. There is a hole (21) and a push member (22) extending over the hole (21) on the first surface (2). There is a connection member (31) which passes through the hole (21) and includes two fins (311) on the second surface. There is a spacing between the fins (311) on the connection member (31).
In the mounting assembly (1) of the present invention, when the first surface (2) and the second surface (3) are desired to be joined, the connection member (31) provided on the second surface (3) is passed through the hole (21) provided on the first surface. After the connection member (31) passes through the hole (21), the push member (22) contacts the spacing provided between the fins (311) of the connection member (31), and the push member (22) pushes the fins (311) upon
the connection member (31) being pushed, thereby allowing the fins (311) to open by flexing from the connection parts. Upon the fins (311) opening, the part of the connection member (31) passing through the hole (21) opens and prevents the connection member (31) from coming out of the hole (21).
In one embodiment of the invention, the fin (311) is in the form of a semi-conical structure that progresses from the second surface (3) with a decreasing the surface area. After the connection member (31) passes through the hole (21) with the half conical structure, the bottom of the fin (311) having conical structure fits on the upper side of the first surface (2) and prevents the connection member (31) from coming out of the hole (21).
In an embodiment of the invention, the spacing size between the fins (311) is such that it increases from the bottom of the second surface (3) to the upper part of the fin (311). In this way, the push member (22) can flex the fins (311) more with a force less than the spacing.
In one embodiment of the invention, there is at least one tab (32) which is provided on the bottom part of the fins (311) close to the second surface (3) and prevents the connection member (31) from coming out of the hole (21).
In one embodiment of the invention, the push member (22) is comprised of a first extension extending preferably perpendicularly over the first surface (2) and at least one second extension extending from the end of the first extension towards the center of the hole (21). The second extension passes between the fins (311) in the connection member (31) and enables the fins (311) to open. In another embodiment of the invention, the push member (22) is in form a letter L.
In one embodiment of the invention, the push member (22) is in form of a bridge on the first surface (2). It contacts the first surface (2) over at least two parts with
its bridge form, and creates a more rigid structure for the force applied on the fins
(311).
In one embodiment of the invention, there is at least one cleat (23) piece on the part of the push member (22) fitting between the fins (311). The cleat (23) piece extends from the push member (22) so that the surface area decreases and provides easy opening between the fins (311) with the decreasing surface area.
In one embodiment of the invention, there is at least one support surface (24) which is located between the push member (22) and the first surface (2) on the outer surface of the push member (22), and provides support.
In one embodiment of the invention, the second part and the fins (311) are single piece.
In another embodiment of the invention, the connection member (31) is detachable on the second surface (3). In another embodiment of the invention, the connection member (31) is fixed on the first surface (2) with a screw.
In one embodiment of the invention, the first surface (2) and the second surface (3) are manufactured from a plastic material.
In one embodiment of the invention, the first surface (2) and the second surface (3) are vehicle (automotive) trim parts.
In an embodiment of the invention, there is at least one buffer (25) which is in form of a projection on the side of the first surface (2) facing the second surface (3) and which creates a distance between the first surface (2) and the second surface (3). In another embodiment of the invention, the buffer (25) is provided around the hole (21).
