Definitions
- the present invention relates to an evaluation method for an optical receiver for coherent optical communication and an evaluation device for an optical receiver.
- the baud rate and modulation method are, for example, 32 Gbaud PDM-QPSK (polarization multiplex-4 phase shift keying).
- the optical transmitter generates a PDM-QPSK optical signal by modulating orthogonal linearly polarized light (X-polarized light and Y-polarized light) with a QPSK baseband signal, respectively.
- the optical receiver converts the optical signal into a baseband signal by coherently detecting the received light and the station emission, demodulates the QPSK by digital signal processing (DSP), and reproduces the transmitted data.
- DSP digital signal processing
- the baud rate and modulation method are, for example, 64 Gbaud PDM-16QAM (polarization multiplex -16 quadrature amplitude phase modulation) or 43 Gbaud PDM-64QAM.
- the baud rate will be increased and the modulation method will be multi-valued in order to expand the transmission capacity per wavelength.
- FIG. 1 shows a configuration diagram of an optical receiver 100 for digital coherent optical communication.
- the optical receiver 100 includes a polarization separator (PBSRX, PBSLO), a 90-degree optical hybrid (HYBX, HYBY), and a balanced photodiode (PD1 to PD1) from the input side of the left received light (RX) and local emission (LO). 4), a transimpedance amplifier (TIA1 to 4), and an A / D converter (ADC1 to 4).

At that time, one of the branched station emissions is interfered with the received light by giving a phase difference of 90 degrees to the other station emission. Interference light of each polarization is converted into an electric signal by a photodiode (PD1 to 4) and a transimpedance amplifier (TIA1 to 4), and converted from an analog electric signal to a digital signal by an A / D converter (ADC1 to 4). - a method of compensating for the phase error has been proposed.
- Patent Document 1 a known signal can be used to compensate for the transfer function of an optical receiver (including the phase error of an optical 90 degree hybrid).
- phase error of the conventional 90-degree optical hybrid shown in FIG. 2 there is a method for evaluating the phase error of the 90-degree optical hybrid using a beat frequency as described in Non-Patent Document 1.

Description
Implementation Agreement for CFP2-Analog Coherent Optics Module IA# OIF-CFP2-ACO-01.0
