Description

A VEHICLE OWNER IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a system which decides on whether a vehicle is being used by a person other than the vehicle owner or not by enabling to identify the vehicle owner over his/her mobile device -preferably a mobile phone- located on the user and enables to make notification when it is decided that the vehicle is being used by a person other than the vehicle owner.
Background of the Invention
Today, it has been started to use smart vehicle technologies frequently with increasing technology. Systems whereby a vehicle’s location, direction, speed, travel route, entries and exits to certain areas can be monitored instantly over a map are one of the smart vehicle technologies. Vehicles’ average of fuel consumption, average speeds, information of average distance covered daily/monthly can be obtained by the said systems as well. Another field wherein smart vehicle technologies are used are systems whereby security of the vehicle and its employees is provided by determining location in case of theft or accident of vehicles. Today, there is need for solutions whereby use of a vehicle by persons other than the vehicle owner is prevented except for these systems which become active in the event of a vehicle theft, in other words theft of a vehicle is avoided; which identifies the vehicle owner over a mobile phone carried by him/her, and prevents unnecessary security notifications to be issued.
The United States patent document no. US2013162421 discloses a system for transmitting information received from a vehicle by a vehicle portable device, to a user. An information communication system comprises a vehicle device that conducts wireless communication with a vehicle, and a mobile user device that conducts near-field wireless communication with a vehicle portable device. When the near-field wireless communication is established between the vehicle portable device and the mobile device, the vehicle portable device acquires the vehicle information from the vehicle and sends these information to the mobile device. The mobile device may be a mobile phone, smartphone, etc.
Summary of the Invention
An objective of the present invention is to realize a system which decides on whether a vehicle is being used by a person other than a vehicle owner or not by enabling to identify the vehicle owner over his/her mobile device -preferably a mobile phone- located on the user and enables to make notification when it is decided that the vehicle is being used by a person other than the vehicle owner.
Another objective of the present invention is to realize a system whereby redundant transmission of existing security notifications is avoided by enabling to identify a vehicle owner over his/her mobile device -preferably a mobile phone- located on the user.
Another objective of the present invention is to realize a system wherein a vehicle owner matches himself/herself with a security module located on the vehicle by his/her mobile phone, the vehicle owner is identified by the security module located on the vehicle over his/her mobile phone every time the vehicle owner approaches the vehicle, and prevents security notifications to be issued for the vehicle owner.
Detailed Description of the Invention
“A Vehicle Owner Identification System” realized to fulfil the objectives of the present invention is shown in the figure attached, in which: Figure 1 is a schematic view of the inventive vehicle owner identification system. The components illustrated in the figure are individually numbered, where the numbers refer to the following:
1. System
2. Mobile device
3. Security module
4. Application
5. Database
6. Server
The inventive system (1) which enables to identify vehicle owners and to get in contact with the vehicle owner in the event that a vehicle is being used by persons other than the vehicle owners comprises:
at least one mobile device (2) whereon at least one application can be run, which can communicate with external servers and has at least one input unit enabling a user to get in contact with the application;
- at least one security module (3) which is located on a vehicle, communicates with Bluetooth-assisted electronic devices, and which is identified by the vehicle owner for his/her mobile device (2) and generates alert by detecting conditions such as vibration, engine start or motion in a vehicle;
- at least one application (4) which is run on the mobile device (2) and wherein a record is created for alerting in cases when conditions such as vibration, engine start or motion occur without the vehicle owner’s request; at least one database (5) wherein matched user information on the basis of the mobile device (2) and MSISDN of vehicle owners are stored; and
at least one server (6) which controls whether the mobile device (2) of the user matches with the security module (3) located on the vehicle or not, does not take any action in case of a match, however warns the actual vehicle owner over the mobile device (2) and/or the application (4) by using the user information included in the database (5) in case of no match.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the mobile device (2) is an electronic device such as cell phone, smartphone, or tablet computer which performs data exchange wirelessly with the security module (3) over its Bluetooth and receives mobile communication service over a mobile communication network by at least one SIM card included in thereof. The mobile device (2) is matched with the security module (3) and it ensures that the actual vehicle owner is warned by the server (6) when the vehicle is intended to be used by a person other than the actual vehicle owner, in other words the mobile device (2) and the security module (3) does not match.
In the inventive system (1), the security module (3) is a unit which ensures that information such as vibration, motion, engine start received from a vehicle are read upon being inserted to preferably ODB (on board diagnostic) socket of the vehicle and which matches with the mobile device by the Bluetooth assist included in thereof. The security module (3) is matched with the mobile device (2) of the owner of the vehicle where it is located. Thereby, it is controlled whether the vehicle is really used by the vehicle owner or not.
In the invention, the application (4) is run on the mobile device (2) and it is a unit wherein the vehicle owner can manage the security notifications that s/he wants to receive about the vehicle. It can be activated or deactivated whether to send security notifications over the application (4) or not. The application (4) ensures that the vehicle owner is warned upon being triggered by the server (7) in the event that security notifications are active, there is no match by the security module (3) but one or more of conditions such as vibration, engine start or motion occur in the vehicle.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the database (5) is a unit wherein matched user information on the basis of the mobile device (2) and MSISDN of vehicle owners are stored. The server (6) warns the vehicle owner by using the actual vehicle owner information being stored on the database (5), in the event that it receives information from the security module (3) that vibration, engine start or motion occurs in the vehicle, without matching in the mobile device (2) and the security module (3).
In the inventive system (1), the server (6) is a unit which gets in contact with vehicle owners and sends a notification that the vehicle is being used by another person by getting in contact with the vehicle owner over the mobile device (2) by call center call, SMS or over the application (4), in the event that it receives notification from the security module (3) that there is a user having an unmatched mobile device (2) in the vehicle.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a vehicle owner identifies that s/he wants to receive alert notification in the event of detecting vibration, engine start or motion in the vehicle over the application (4) and matches the security module (3) on the vehicle with the mobile device (2) over Bluetooth. Upon matching is provided, the security module (3) does not generate any alert by providing matching every time the vehicle owner approaches the vehicle by his/her mobile device (2). Thereby, the vehicle owner is warned over the mobile device (2) or the application (4) in cases such as the user starts and moves the vehicle by himself/herself. In the event that the security module (3) and the mobile device (2) don’t match and vibration, motion or engine start is detected in a vehicle; the vehicle owner is informed over the mobile device (2) and/or the application (4).
Within these basic concepts; it is possible to develop various embodiments of the inventive vehicle owner identification system (1); the invention cannot be limited to examples disclosed herein and it is essentially according to claims.
