Definitions

  • the present invention belongs to the field of medicine, and more particularly to the field of endoscopic surgery.
  • the object of the present invention is an endoscopic device particularly designed to apply a fluid in a confined area within the surgical field.
  • This procedure has the drawback that the application of the fluid is not limited to the specific point where it is needed, but is distributed over a wider area around said point.
  • This lack of precision in fluid application can be critical, for example, when bio-repair or hemostatic materials are applied fluidly to brain, central nervous system, or vascular tissues. Indeed, in those cases the presence of material "detached" from the tip of a conventional tubular applicator can cause clusters of material or filaments that, eventually, can obstruct holes or conduits and thus cause thrombosis or heart attacks.

  • this document describes a configuration consisting of an endoscopic device in which the cup is configured to be inserted through a catheter (see Fig. 14), thus allowing the fluid application surface to be confined in endoscopic surgical procedures.
