Description

EXTRACTABLE DRAWER OF A HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE
[0001] The present invention refers to an extractable drawer of a household appliance such as of a built-in oven, stove, washing machine and similar comprising a non-movable housing and a drawer element such as a water container for example for preparing steam at the stove, a container for a washing agent at the washing machine and similar, wherein the drawer element is movably guided in the non-movable housing by means of at least one driving means which enables movement of the drawer element from the first closed position to the second open position.
[0002] An extractable drawer of a household appliance of the aforementioned kind has been disclosed in the patent document No. EP 2 550 902. Said drawer is provided with at least one driving device which comprises at least one damper means for providing a damping force affecting on the drawer element when it is moved in a translational movement. The combination of resilient force and the damping force in combination define the speed and force of the translational movement of the drawer. Said known solution is dedicated i.e. provided exclusively for a manual operation the extractable drawer which is the major disadvantage thereof. However, in practice a wish is emerging of different ways of manipulating the extractable drawer either entirely manually or entirely automatically, which is neither mentioned in said known solution nor is said known solution provided for manipulating the extractable drawer otherwise but manually by a user of the household appliance.
[0003] It is the object of the present invention to create an extractable drawer of a household appliance which can be manipulated both manually and automatically.
[0004] According to the present invention, the object as set above is solved by features set forth in the characterising part of claim 1. Detail of the invention is disclosed in respective subclaims.
[0005] The invention is further described in detail by way of non-limiting embodiments, and with a reference to the accompanying drawings, where Fig. 1 shows a three-dimensional view from above of an extractable drawer according to the invention,
Fig. 2 shows a view from below of the extractable drawer of Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 shows another embodiment of the extractable drawer of Fig. 1,
Fig. 4 shows yet another embodiment of the extractable drawer of Fig. 1.
[0006] The invention is described in detail in continuation on the basis of an embodiment of an extractable drawer, wherein a household appliance is exemplary selected as a household oven. It is obvious, however, that the household appliance can be selected as a stove, a washing machine and similar without departing from the spirit of the invention.
[0007] The extractable drawer according to the invention comprises a non-movable housing 1 fixed by means of plurality of fixing means 2 to the household appliance and, respectively, the oven not shown. A movable housing 3 is connected in a telescopic manner to the end of the non-movable housing 1 facing the inside of the oven , in the present case such that said non-movable housing 1 represents an inner element and said movable housing 3 represent an outer element of said telescopic connection, wherein both the non-movable housing 1 and the movable housing 3 are configured to perform motion relative to each other. The front end of said non-movable housing 1 facing the exterior and, respectively, the front side of the oven is formed to receive a drawer element 4, wherein the non-movable housing 1 and the drawer element 4 are configured to perform motion relative to each other.
[0008] Said drawer element 4 is firmly but disconnectedly in fluid communication with a back side 5 of the movable housing 3 so that the latter moves simultaneously with the movement of the drawer element 4. However, when the extracting force which at extraction of the drawer element 4 acts upon it, overcomes the connecting force of said disconnectable fluid connection, a disconnection of said fluid communication takes place and the drawer element 4 can be entirely removed from the non-movable housing 1 and, respectively, from the oven.
[0009] Said relative motion of the non-movable housing 1 and the movable housing 3 is achieved in a manner that said housings 1, 3 are mutually connected by means of a sliding element 6 which is sliding movable arranged along at least one longitudinal sides of the non-movable housing 1. Said sliding element 6 is guided on the non movable housing 1 by means of a plurality of respective guides 7, 8, whereas the movable housing 3 is guided in a sliding movable manner by means of additional guide 9 on said sliding element 6. Said additional guide 9 is formed at the side adjacent to the back side 5 of the movable housing 3 with a recess 10 which mates with an end section of the sliding element 6.
[0010] Said movable housing 3 is provided at the front side thereof and in the region of cooperation with the sliding element 6 with a projection 11, and said end section of the sliding element 6 is provided with a projection 12, wherein said projections 11, 12 are mutually interconnected by means of a coupling element 13. In the present embodiment, said coupling element 13 is selected as an elastic coupling element such as tension spring element. Alternatively, the coupling element 13 can be selected as a rigid coupling element such as a gear pair pinion - gear rack or similar.
[0011] The lower side of the extractable drawer according to the invention is provided with a moving means 14 connecting the non-movable housing 1 and the movable housing 3, enabling thus relative movement of the movable housing 3 with respect to the non-movable housing 1. In the present embodiment, said moving means 14 is selected as an electric drive where an electric motor 14a of the moving means 14 is exemplary fixed to the lower side of the non-movable housing 1 and connected by means of a rotational threaded rod 14b to the movable housing 3, said threaded rod 14b being supported in a bearing 14c. Alternatively, said moving means 14 can be selected as a fluidic moving means such as a pneumatic or hydraulic moving means, a mechanical moving means such as a spring, and similar.
[0012] When a fluid is to be added in said drawer element 4, such as water at the steam oven, the drawer element 4 is pulled out from the closed position into the open position in a manner for the user to activate said moving means 14, which can be done either by pushing a respective button on the household appliance, or by means of a remote controller such as by means of a respective application in a smart phone, or similar. Said moving means 14 causes the movable housing 3 to move forward in direction towards the front side of the household appliance. The movement of said movable housing 3 is transferred via the coupling element 13 to said sliding element 6 which, in turn, moves simultaneously with the movable housing 3.
[0013] The front end of the sliding element 6 is provided with a stop 15, a driving means 16 being fixed thereon and interconnected with a door 17 of the household appliance, said door 17 entirely cover the opening of the extractable drawer into which the drawer element 4 is inserted. Said driving means 16 which can be selected in a sense of a Bowden cable, a rod linkage or similar, is fixed with the other end thereof to said door 17 of the household appliance. Translational movement of the sliding element 6 causes simultaneous movement of the driving means 16 which, in turn, opens said door 17. Said door 17 of the household appliance are fully open when said stop 15 of the sliding element 6 is pressed against the end stop 18 on the non-movable housing 1.
[0014] At the moment when said door 17 is fully open (in Fig. 1 shown by a dashed line) the drawer element 4 is still positioned in the entirely open position. In order to position the drawer element 4 in the entirely open position said moving means 14 is still active and is pushing and, respectively, pulling the movable housing 3 in direction towards said door 17 in spite of the sliding element 6 already reached its final position by pressing against the end stop 18. Said continued movement of the movable housing 3 is enabled by the coupling element 13 which enables said continued movement of the movable housing 3 relative to the non-movable housing 1 and, respectively, the sliding element 6.
[0015] The movable housing 3 further executes translational movement in direction towards said door 17 until the front end of the movable housing 3 presses against yet additional stop 19 on the sliding element 6. Said additional stop 19 is formed on the sliding element 6 at the side close to the movable housing 3. At the moment when the movable housing 3 touches the additional stop 19, the final open position of the drawer element 4 is reached and said moving means 14 cease to be active. The user can now pour the liquid into the drawer element 4 or remove it entirely from the non-movable housing 1 by drag in direction out of said housing 1. In this event, a disconnection of said fluid communication of the drawer element 4 with the back side 5 of the movable housing 3 also takes place. [0016] When the drawer element 4 returns in its entirely closed position, said moving means 14 is reactivated by pressing again the respective button, which now pushes and, respectively, pulls by acting in the opposite direction the drawer back in direction which is opposite to the above described direction.
[0017] An alternative of the above described embodiment of the extractable drawer according to the invention is represented by further embodiment where a push-pull principle known per se is used for transferring the drawer element 4 from the closed position to the open position. In this case, said moving means 14 is selected as an elastic element such as a tension spring a first end thereof is attached to the lower side of the non-movable housing 1 and a second end thereof is attached to the lower end of the movable housing 3. With this embodiment, said tension spring is fully tensional loaded in the entirely closed position of the extractable drawer according to the invention, and pulls the movable housing 3 in direction towards the non-movable housing 1. The movement of the housings 1, 3 relative to each other is prevented by a blocking position of a pulling system 21 known per se.
[0018] In order for the user to open the extractable drawer with this embodiment the user pushes the front region 20 of the extractable drawer which is aligned with the front wall and, respectively, the user interface of the household appliance. Pushing the front region 20 of the extractable drawer overcomes the force which blocks operation of the push-pull system 21, and as a result, it is enabled for said moving means 14 in the form of the loaded tensional spring to pull the movable housing 3 in direction towards the non-movable housing 1. Consequently, the drawer element 4 which is firmly fluidly connected with the back wall 5 of the movable housing 3, moves from the non-movable housing 1. Said movement of the drawer element 4 from the non-movable housing 1 is conditioned by a motion of the moving means 14 and, respectively, the tension spring, however, it is sufficient to unblock the push-pull system 1 and to enable the entire extract of the drawer element 4 from the non-movable housing 1.
[0019] To prevent said moving means 14 in form of the loaded tension spring to perform shock force on the movable housing 3 and also on the drawer element 4, a damper means 22 is provided on the non-movable housing 1 which slows down the movement of the movable housing. The damping is achieved for example by mean of a gear pair pinion 23 - gear rack 24, said pinion 23 being rotatable associated with said damper means 22, and said gear rack 24 is formed at the suitable location of said sliding element 6.
[0020] In order to enable mutual movement of the movable housing 3 and the drawer element 4, the two are interconnected by means of said coupling element 13. For this purpose said movable housing 3 is provided at its front side and in the region of cooperation with the sliding element 6 with a projection 11, and is said end section of the sliding element 6 provided with a projection 12, said projections 11, 12 mutually interconnected by the coupling element 13. In this embodiment, said coupling element 13 is selected as a rigid coupling element.
[0021] Yet further embodiment of the extractable drawer of the household appliance provides for a completely manual control of the extractable drawer. To extract the drawer element 4 from the non-movable housing 1, with such a control the user merely pulls the drawer element 4 from the household appliance and, respectively, the non movable housing 1. With this embodiment, the movable housing 3 is rigidly connected by means of a plurality of pins 25 with non-movable housing 1, thus, disabling any movement of the movable housing 3. Said fluid connection of the drawer element 4 and the back wall 5 of the movable housing 3 is overridden by a pull in direction away from the non-movable housing 1, thereby enabling further unobstructed movement of the drawer element 4. With this embodiment, the sliding element 6, the moving means 14 and the damper means 22 can be entirely or only partially absent.
