Definitions
- the present invention refers to a hoe that includes a handle and a metal hoe head that are joined together in a solidary way to each other, forming a single monoblock assembly that provides great resistance to wear and a structure that provides great strength and robustness. during use, avoiding mismatches between the handle and the head.
- hoes consist of two bodies: a handle and a hoe head, which are joined together by a detachable connection comprising a male element and a female element; where the male element is formed by an end section of the handle and the female element comprises a hole located in the hoe head, highlighting that the male element and the female element comprise a conical configuration.
- the handle of cylindrical configuration in an extreme part, widens, generating the end section conically with a progressive increase in its diameter towards one end of said handle, while the hole or eye of the head of the hoe comprises a conical configuration in which the end section of the handle fits and adjusts, which together with the weight of the head of the hoe generates a tightening that blocks the two bodies of the hoe.
- the handle is made of wood, which causes the previously mentioned connection between handle and head of the hoe to change also depending on the degree of humidity of the handle's wooden material; so that when faced with this drawback or when the handle begins to deteriorate, a gap is generated in the connection between the handle and the head of the hoe, which reduces or ceases to exist a useful friction surface between the handle and head of the hoe which causes the hoe head to rotate on the handle or the hoe head attachment to be released from the handle with the danger that this fact poses for the hoe user. Users often try to solve this problem by rewetting the handle by immersing the handle and hoe head assembly in water, adding rags, lag screws and wedge-shaped screws in the gap between the male element of the handle and the element. female of the hoe head, highlighting that even with these elements added to try to eliminate the slack, a good grip between the handle and the hoe head is not achieved. In this situation it is not possible to work with the hoe and there is also the risk of injury.
- the invention proposes a hoe that comprises a handle and a metal hoe head that are joined together to form a monoblock assembly; where the hoe head includes an extension that is attached to a first end section of the handle by means of an injected material that is part of the handle itself; and where the hoe head extension is embedded in the injected material of the handle.
- the hoe head extension comprises a curved configuration that includes through holes.
- the handle comprises a tubular structure, with the exception of its first extreme section, which is solid; where one end of the handle, opposite to the first end section of said handle, includes a mouth closed by means of a cover.
- the hoe of the invention further comprises a counterweight attached to the first end section of the handle by a detachable connection.
- the counterweight is fixed to the handle by means of a screw that is threaded into a tubular nut-like insert that is immovably housed within a recess located in the first end section of the handle; where the counterweight includes a perforation configured to introduce the screw; and where said perforation is aligned with the tubular insert.
- the injected material of the handle comprises a plastic material; where in a particular embodiment the plastic material is a polymer.
- Figure 1. Shows an exploded perspective view of the hoe, object of the invention.
- Figure 2.- Shows a perspective view of the hoe of the invention.
- Figure 3. Shows a perspective view of a head that is part of the hoe.
- the hoe comprises a handle 1 and a hoe head 2 which are both joined together in solidarity; where the hoe head 2 includes an extension 2a that is attached to a first end section of the handle 1 by means of an injected material that is part of the handle 1 itself.
- the extension 2a of said head 2 is placed in a part of a material injection mold, and then proceeds to inject into the mold said component material of the handle 1, so that during the injection process a part of the injected material fills an internal gap in the mold in which the extension 2a that is part of the hoe head 2 is located, so that once the injected material solidifies, the union between the handle 1 and the head 2 of the hoe materializes.
- the extension 2a of the hoe head 2 is embedded in the material of the handle 1, ensuring the union, solving the drawbacks mentioned in the background section.
- the hoe head extension 2a comprises a curved configuration with two through holes 3 which are filled with the material injected from the handle.
- the handle comprises a tubular structure, with the exception of its first end section, which is solid, such that one end of the handle 1, opposite to the first end section, includes a mouth 4 that is closed by means of a cover 5 so that no dirt enters the the inside of said handle 1.
- the hoe of the invention further includes a counterweight 6 fixed to the first end section of the handle 1.
- the counterweight 6 is removable, that is, it can be installed and uninstalled depending on the operation to be carried out using the hoe.
- the counterweight 6 is detachably fixed to the handle by means of a screw 7 that is threaded into a metallic tubular insert 8 as a nut that is immovably housed within a recess 9 located in the first end section of the handle 1.
- the counterweight 6 includes a perforation 10 through which the screw 7 is inserted; where said perforation 10 is aligned with the tubular insert 8 to be able to fix the counterweight 6 to the first end section of the handle 1.
- the tubular insert 8 is placed in an area inside the mold prior to the injection of the material from the handle 1, so that when the material is injected to materialize the handle 1 and its union with the head of the hoe 2, the hole 9 is generated where the tubular insert 8 is housed.
- the counterweight 6 is an element that gives the hoe more versatility, since it can be used for light tasks (without a counterweight) and heavy tasks (with a counterweight); where in this case with the inclusion of the counterweight 6, an increase in inertia and force is achieved for the insertion of the hoe head 2 into the ground, so that if the counterweight 6 is not included it would be insufficient.
- counterweight 6 can be used as a “hammer” in hoes to perform functions such as furrow marking in a field or breaking clods of solidified and highly compacted earth.
- the injected material of the handle 1 is a plastic material such as a polymer, without ruling out other materials.
- the polymer is injected onto the extension 2a of the metal hoe head 2, with which the soil will be worked.
- said metal hoe head 2 and handle 1 configure a monoblock assembly, that is, they are a single integral element, which avoids the problems that currently exist in the known hoes comprising the handle and the hoe head detachably attached.
