Abstract

The invention relates to fire extinguishing technology, and more particularly to portable fire-fighting equipment and fire extinguishers for preventing explosions and fires and for extinguishing fires using an inorganic fast-hardening foam. The fire extinguisher is designed to allow the production of a fire extinguishant in the form of a foamed silica gel that forms a fast-hardening foam produced by mixing and foaming the fire extinguishant components contained in the body of the extinguisher and fed to the means for mixing said components under the pressure of a compressed gas inside the body. The following fire extinguishant components are used: component A, which is an aqueous solution of a mixture of an alkali metal silicate, preferably sodium silicate, and a foam-forming surfactant, preferably a synthetic hydrocarbon foaming agent; and component B, which is a silica sol formation activator, preferably in the form of an aqueous solution of acetic acid. The body of the fire extinguisher is configured in the form of a T comprised of two cylinders welded together, one of which is oriented along a vertical axis and the other of which is oriented along a horizontal axis, the fire extinguisher being equipped with a handle in the plane of the axes of the cylinders. The means for mixing said fire extinguishant components is in the form of an ejector mixer and foam generator capable of mixing components A and B and foaming the mixture of components A and B using atmospheric air ejected into the ejector mixer and foam generator.
