Abstract

The invention relates to the field of medicine, and more particularly to orthopaedics, and can be used for the treatment and prophylaxis of pathological kyphosis of the thoracolumbar, upper thoracic and cervical spine. The aim of the present invention is to create a device for the prophylaxis and effective treatment of kyphotic deformities of the thoracolumbar, thoracic and cervical spine which allows the controlled correction of kyphotic deformities of all of the regions of the spine. This aim is achieved in that a corrective device for the treatment of kyphotic deformities of the spine, comprising a belt having mechanical hook and loop fasteners on its ends, a back piece connected to the belt and having shoulder straps, buckles disposed on the belt for receiving said shoulder straps, and stiffening ribs made of a resilient material, additionally comprises a flexible rod extending from the bottom edge of the belt to the occipital region of a patient, a vertical pocket disposed in the middle of the belt and the back piece for accommodating the lower portion of the flexible rod, and a chin support with fastening members capable of encompassing the outer surface of the upper portion of the flexible rod and of being secured in a selected position. The aim is also achieved in that the corrective device for the treatment of kyphotic deformities of the spine additionally comprises at least two vertically arranged straps, each of which is connected at one end to the upper portion of the belt, wherein the straps are of sufficient length to pass around a patient's trouser belt and to be fastened at the other end in a selected position by means of hook and loop fasteners.
