The present invention relates to a dishwasher (1) comprising a body (2), washing cabinet (3) provided on the body (2), in which the washing process is performed, and a drawer (7) provided at the portion of the washing cabinet (3) proximate to the ceiling (T), comprising a frame (4) forming its edges, at least one side surface (5) displaceable in horizontal direction by sliding on the frame (4), and an intermediate surface (6) movable in vertical direction, in which small-sized items are placed to be washed, having an upper position (U) in which the side surface (5) and the intermediate surface (6) are positioned side-by-side on the same axis, enabling placing items on almost all of the area within the frame (4) and a lower position (A) in which the intermediate surface (6) is moved farther from the washing cabinet (3) ceiling, enabling the side surface (5) to be moved towards above the intermediate surface (6).

Description

A DISHWASHER
The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a drawer in which items to be washed are placed.
It is rather difficult to wash items of small sizes which have many indentations. Therefore, cutlery baskets are provided on the washing cabinet in which small-sized items such as forks and spoons are placed for being well-washed and not being dashed around during the washing process. This enables the washed items to be even cleaner, and prevents deformations on the items and on the machine likely to occur due to items dashing around. As well as being positioned at a region on the lower basket, lately these cutlery baskets are preferred to be located in regions close to the ceiling of the washing cabinet. This enables enlarging the washing capacity of the lower basket and thereby being able to wash items occupying larger spaces or a higher number of dishes. Water directly reaches on the basket disposed at the ceiling area. In addition, items are enabled to be arranged more orderly. Smaller sized items are thus enabled to be washed more effectively. However, the baskets placed between the ceiling and the upper basket, delimit the space for placing the items on the upper basket. Taller items such as wine glasses placed on the upper basket snag on the cutlery basket disposed above the upper basket. This may lead to not being able to place taller items on the upper basket, or deformation of the items or of the cutlery basket.
State of the art international patent application document no. WO2014102737 discloses a dishwasher comprising a basket which can be utilized in varying sizes.
The aim of the present invention is to realize a dishwasher whose washing cabinet volume can be used efficiently.
The dishwasher realized to achieve the aim of the present invention and disclosed in the first claim and the dependent claims comprises a body, and a washing cabinet provided on the body. A drawer is provided in the washing cabinet proximate to the ceiling of the washing cabinet, on which small-sized items are placed to be washed. The drawer comprises a frame forming its edges, at least one side surface slidingly displaceable on the frame, and an intermediate surface disposed between the side surfaces. The intermediate surface has an upper position in which it rests side-by-side with the side surfaces, enabling placing items on almost all of the area within the frame, and a lower position in which it moves downwards, enabling the side surfaces to join.
The dishwasher of the invention comprises a control member controlling displacement of the intermediate surface between the lower position and upper position, and the sliding motion of the side surfaces on the frame. The intermediate surface displaces between the lower position and the upper position by means of the control member. The washing cabinet volume is thus used more efficiently.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a movement mechanism enabling the intermediate surface to displace between the upper position and the lower position. The movement mechanism comprises a bearer frame on which the intermediate surface is placed, at least one carrier member enabling the bearer frame to be moved in vertical direction, at least one guide member on which the carrier member slidingly moves, and an actuator. An end of the actuator is disposed on the carrier member. A worm gear is provided at the other end of the actuator. The carrier member slidingly moves on the guide member. This enables the intermediate surface to move in vertical direction.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a control member detachably attached at the end with the worm gear of the actuator.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a movement mechanism having a first gear track, a middle gear and a main gear. The first gear track extends in vertical direction so as to be parallel to the guide member. The control member enables the worm gear to move by being triggered by the user. The rotating worm gear transmits this motion to the middle gear. The middle gear transmits its motion to the main gear, thereby enabling the intermediate surface to displace between the lower position and the upper position.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a movement mechanism having a second gear track and a back gear. The second gear track is disposed vertically on the rear edge of the bearer frame. The back gear advances on the second gear track. This enables the bearer frame to move in vertical direction.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a movement string whose one end is disposed on the control member and whose other end is connected to the side surface.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a control member detaching from the actuator by being pulled in opposite direction of the actuator. The control member is movable in horizontal direction when detached from the actuator.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a protective cover having a slot on which the control member moves in horizontal direction.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises side surfaces slidingly moving on the frame upon moving of the control member in horizontal direction. The side surfaces can be used in various positions by sliding on the frame.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a rotatable member provided on the side surface, enabling the side surface to slidingly move.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a frame on which the side surfaces are joined when the intermediate surface is in lower position. The sides of the frame remain hollow thanks to the side surfaces sliding and joining on the frame. This enables placing larger items on the basket disposed below the drawer.

An end of the actuator (14) is disposed on the carrier member (11). Thus, when the carrier member (11) moves in vertical direction, the actuator (14) also moves vertically. The actuator (14) is disposed below the bearer frame (10). Movement in vertical direction is thus transmitted to the bearer frame (10), enabling the drawer (7) to be displaced between the lower position (A) and the upper position (U). The guide member (12) is provided in vertical direction on the frame (4). The carrier member (11) slidingly moves on the guide member (12).
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a movement mechanism (9) having a control member (8) detachably attached at the end with the worm gear (13) of the actuator (14). The control member (8) enables moving the intermediate surface (6) when attached on the actuator (14), and moving the side surfaces (5) when detached from the actuator (14).
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a first gear track (15) provided on the frame (4), extending in vertical direction parallel to the guide member (12), a middle gear (16) enabling transmitting the rotational motion by engaging the worm gear (13) moving by the user triggering the control member (8), and a main gear (17) enabling displacement of the drawer (7) between the lower position (A) and the upper position (U) by moving in vertical direction on the gear track by means of the movement transmitted by the middle gear (16). The worm gear rotates by the user triggering the control member (8). The middle gear (16) engaged to the worm gear (13), moves and enables the main gear (17) to move. The main gear (17) travels on the first gear track (15). The rotational motion is thus converted to motion in vertical direction, enabling the drawer (7) to be displaced between the lower position (A) and the upper position (U).
In an embodiment of the invention, the movement mechanism (9) comprises a vertical second gear track (18) provided on the rear edge of the bearer frame (10) so as to be parallel to the guide member (12), and a back gear (19) provided on the actuator (14), enabling the drawer (7) to be displaced between the lower position (A) and the upper position (U) by moving on the second gear track (18). The back gear (19) advances on the second gear track (18), enabling the bearer frame (10) to move in vertical direction. The drawer (7) is thus displaced between the upper position (U) and the lower position (A).
In an embodiment of the invention, the movement mechanism (9) comprises a movement string (20) whose one end is disposed on the control member (8) and whose other end is connected to the side surface (5). The movement spring (20) enables connecting the side surface (5) to the control member (8). The side surfaces (5) and the intermediate surface (6) are thus moved by means of the control member (8).
In an embodiment of the invention, the movement mechanism (9) comprises a control member (8) detaching from the actuator (14) by being pulled in opposite direction of the actuator (14) and movable in horizontal direction. The control member (8) is movable in horizontal plane when disconnected from the actuator (14).
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a protective cover (22) provided on the drawer (7), having a slot (21) enabling the control member (8) to be guided horizontally when it is not connected to the actuator (14). When detached from the actuator (14), the control member (8) travels inside the slot (21). The movement of the control member (8) is thus enabled to be controlled.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises side surfaces (5) slidingly moving on the frame (4) upon moving of the control member (8) in horizontal direction. When the control member (8) moves inside the slot (21), the side surface (5) is enabled to move together with the control member (8).
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises at least one rotatable member (23) provided on the side surface (5) and connected to the frame (4). The rotatable members (23) provided on the side surfaces (5) contact the frame (4). This enables the side surfaces (5) to move more easily and smoothly.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a drawer (7) in which the side surfaces (5) can be used in varying positions by being joined when the drawer (7) is in lower position (A), thereby providing convenience of use.
The invention enables realizing a dishwasher (1) having a drawer (7) enabling increasing the washing capacity by means of being usable in varying sizes. By means of the movement mechanism (9) provided on the drawer (7), a user can utilize only the needed sections of the drawer (7), and can increase the washing space below the drawer (7) by reducing the size of the drawer (7) when not needed. The movement mechanism (9) makes usage of the drawer (7) more practical.

Claims (11)

  1. A dishwasher (1) comprising a body (2), a washing cabinet (3) provided on the body (2), in which the washing process is performed, and a drawer (7) provided at the portion of the washing cabinet (3) proximate to the ceiling (T), the drawer in which small-sized items are placed to be washed comprising:
    - a frame (4) forming its edges,
    - at least one side surface (5) displaceable in horizontal direction by sliding on the frame (4), and an intermediate surface (6) movable in vertical direction,
    - having an upper position (U) in which the side surface (5) and the intermediate surface (6) are positioned side-by-side on the same axis, enabling placing items on almost all of the area within the frame (4) and a lower position (A) in which the intermediate surface (6) is moved farther from the washing cabinet (3) ceiling, enabling the side surface (5) to be moved towards above the intermediate surface (6),
    characterized by
    - a movement mechanism (9) having a control member (8) enabling controlling the movement of the intermediate surface (6) in vertical direction and of the side surface (5) in horizontal direction during movement of the drawer (7) between the lower position (A) and the upper position (U).
  2. A dishwasher (1) according to claim 1, characterized by a bearer frame (10) on which the intermediate surface (6) is placed, at least one carrier member (11) enabling the bearer frame (10) to be carried in vertical direction during displacement of the drawer (7) between the lower position (A) and the upper position (U), and by a movement mechanism (9) having at least one guide member (12) provided on the frame (4), enabling the bearer frame (10) to be moved in vertical direction by means of the carrier member (11) silidingly moving thereon, and an actuator (14) extending along the bearer frame (10), whose one end is disposed on the carrier member (11) and whose other end is provided with a worm gear (13) thereon.
  3. A dishwasher (1) according to claim 2, characterized by the movement mechanism (9) having a control member (8) detachably attached at the end with the worm gear (13) of the actuator (14).
  4. A dishwasher (1) according to claim 2 or 3, characterized by a first gear track (15) provided on the frame (4), extending in vertical direction parallel to the guide member (12), a middle gear (16) enabling transmitting the rotational motion by engaging the worm gear (13) moving by the user triggering the control member (8), and by a main gear (17) enabling displacement of the drawer (7) between the lower position (A) and the upper position (U) by moving in vertical direction on the gear track by means of the movement transmitted by the middle gear (16).

A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the claims 2 to 4, characterized by the movement mechanism (9) comprising a second gear track (18) provided on the rear edge of the bearer frame (10) so as to be parallel to the guide member (12), and a back gear (19) provided on the actuator (14), enabling the drawer (7) to be displaced between the lower position (A) and the upper position (U) by moving on the second gear track (18).
  6. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by the movement mechanism (9) comprising a movement string (20) whose one end is provided on the control member (8) and whose other end is connected to the side surface (5).
  7. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the claims 2 to 6, characterized by the movement mechanism (9) comprising a control member (8) detaching from the actuator (14) by being pulled in opposite direction of the actuator (14) and movable in horizontal direction.
  8. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the claims 2 to 7, characterized by a protective cover (22) provided on the drawer (7), having a slot (21) enabling the control member (8) to be guided horizontally when it is not connected to the actuator (14).
  9. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by the side surface (5) slidingly moving on the frame (4) upon the control member (8) moving in horizontal direction.
  10. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by at least one rotatable member (23) provided on the side surface (5) and connected to the frame (4).
  11. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by the drawer (7) in which the side surfaces (5) can be used in varying positions by being joined when the drawer (7) is in lower position (A).
