Definitions
- the present invention relates to systems measuring and adjusting water intake pressure in washing machines.
- the water used in washing steps pours into a detergent drawer and reaches the tub in which washing process is performed.
- the piece on the detergent box provided on the detergent drawer enables water to be directed to the detergent and fabric softener compartments in the most effective manner, and assists detergent and fabric softener to be flushed into the machine by being mixed with water.
- detergent or fabric softener may not be flushed/removed from the drawer due to failure of water intake in a sufficient flow rate to the detergent and fabric softener compartments for a variety of reasons, consequently leading to collection of detergent/fabric softener residue in a compartment.
- the dirt in a drawer may be caused by textile lint occurring during washing and/or drying of laundry, as well as by residual of the detergent and fabric softeners on drawer surfaces.
- a patent publication of technical interest which may be referred to is KR20130025672.
- Said patent publication relates to a system for easy cleaning of a detergent drawer in which both liquid and powder detergent is used.
- detergent chambers are formed, accessible through the washing machine.
- Said detergent chambers enable placing both liquid and powder detergent.
- Containers are placed in said chambers, removable for cleaning when required. Detergent and water are mixed in these containers, preventing detergent residual on the drawer.
- EP0597509 Another patent publication of technical interest which may be referred to is EP0597509.
- a valve is activated and detergent in the drawer is received into a tub. Heating members are activated upon the tub is filled. A pump and divertible jets are coordinated and they direct the liquid towards the drawer. Said valve and the pump are operated in the same washing operation. Discharge equipment is activated after the filling process.
- the present invention organizes using of the flow guide valve in various manners.
- a system is provided, related to enabling detection of low water intake pressure in a machine.
- This system eliminates the problem of failure in flushing detergent due to the water coming to a machine having low pressure, thereby preventing formation of detergent residue in a detergent drawer.
- the primary objective of the present invention relates to detection of low water intake pressure in washing machines and/or washer-dryers, and adapting water intake steps accordingly.
- Another objective of the present invention is to provide prevention of solid particle, powder detergent or fabric softener residual in a detergent compartment.
- Figure 1 is a general view of the drawer cleaning system in washing machines provided according to the present invention.
- Figure 2 is a side view of the drawer cleaning system used in washing machines provided according to the present invention.
- Figure 3 is a view of the drawer cleaning system used in washing machines provided according to the present invention, from above.
- Figure 4 is a view of the A-A section of Figure 3 of the flowmeter used in washing machines provided according to the present invention.
- the invention mentions a system detecting low water pressure by using a flowmeter (3) provided on a water intake valve (1) and a water level sensor and enabling increasing the water amount received in the machine by alerting the user, in order to prevent residue formation in a detergent box (4) provided in a detergent box drawer (6), occurring after receiving low pressure water in washing machines.
- the system provided on a machine consists of said flowmeter (3) and/or water level sensor, sad water intake valve (1), a detergent box inlet (5) enabling fluid communication with said detergent box (4), a tub and a control panel.
- the machine does not have a flowmeter (3), the water received into the machine for washing steps is detected by the frequency variations on the water level sensor.
- the level of pressure caused by the water level variation in the tub of the machine effects the diaphragm in the water level sensor connected to the tub.
- the frequency generated by the force forming on the diaphragm is read by the sensor.
- a low pressure of the water received into the machine causes the flow rate of the water reaching the machine to be low, therefore the sensor would read a reduced frequency variation rate.
- a low pressure of the water reaching the machine is detected if the frequency variation rate read by the water level sensor is below the normal variation rate when the water intake valve (1) is open during the water intake step of the machine.
- the user will be informed via the screen of the machine that the machine is receiving low pressure water and intake of water will be halted.
- the machine will switch to standby mode for a duration preferred by the user. Throughout this duration, according to preference, the user may advance the machine to the next step without making any changes or may allow the machine to receive water up to the overflow level of the container in order to be able to flush the placed detergent or fabric softener. If the user does not make any changes throughout this duration, then the machine will receive water up to the overflow level. Thus, detergent and fabric softener residue will not remain in the detergent box (4).
- the machine uses the fabric softener in the rinsing step, whether the water intake pressure is low is controlled while the machine is receiving rinsing water, by monitoring the value read by the flowmeter (3) seen in Figure 2, or the value or the frequency variation rate measured by the water level sensor. If the water level is determined to be low at this stage, first the main washing water pressure is controlled. If the water pressure has dropped during receiving the rinsing water, then the above-explained processes are continued. However, if the water pressure was low also in the main washing step, then the activity of the user is examined. If the user has decided to continue receiving water, then water will be received again up to the overflow level. If the user has decided not to do anything, then the machine switches itself to the standby mode for a determined duration.
- FIG 4 is a detailed illustration of the A-A section of Figure 3, the amount of water received through the water intake valve (1) of the machine is monitored in machines with flowmeter (3).
- a flowmeter wheel (8) provided in said flowmeter (3) spins under the effect of water and the number of spins are counted by means of a magnetic sensor (2) positioned on the wheel.
- a low pressure of water received in the machine during water intake process for the main washing or pre-washing steps causes the wheel in the flowmeter (3) to spin less in a unit of time. Whether the water reaching the machine has low pressure can be detected by monitoring the variation of the value read by said magnetic sensor (2) in a unit of time.
- the water intake pressure can be controlled under any washing program.
- An algorithm is executed before receiving water for the main washing step and in the water intake process for the final rinsing.
- the user is informed by means of the main screen whether water intake pressure is low and in which step the machine is in said algorithm. If the machine has a flowmeter (3), in water intake process for the main washing step, 270 spins are counted when the water intake valve (1) is open. If counting of 270 spins take longer than 1 minute, then the machine informs the user that water intake pressure is low by displaying a low water pressure alert on its screen.
- the machine does not have a flowmeter (3), when a variation of 35 frequencies take longer than 1 minute with the water intake valve (1) in open state, then the machine informs the user that water intake pressure is low by displaying a low water pressure alert on its screen. The machine may inform audibly for said alerts.
- water is received according to a water intake level predetermined according to the program.
- the machine halts itself, alerts the user and rests in the standby mode for a predetermined duration. Said duration may be adjusted by the user.
- the audible alert system of the machine may be activated throughout the standby duration.
- the machine waits for the predetermined standby duration and receives water up to the overflow level. If the user wishes to skip this step, then the machine receives the required amount of water and continues to the washing cycle.
- the machine determines a low pressure during receiving the water required for the main washing step, two separate conditions would apply. If the user has given a command to skip the washing step, then the machine does not receive additional water in the rinsing step. If the user has not given a command, then the machine switches to the standby mode again and waits for the user's command.
- a washing machine comprising a housing water valve (1), a detergent box inlet (5) enabling passing the water coming through said water valve (1) therethrough and transmitting it to a detergent box drawer (6), and an operation system using the pressure level of the water transmitted to said detergent box inlet (5).
- the washing machine comprises a detergent box (4) in which water is received in a predefined level according to the acquired water pressure value.
- the washing machine comprises a flowmeter (3) measuring the pressure of the liquid transmitted to said detergent box (4).
- the washing machine comprises a water level sensor reading the frequency generated on a diaphragm effected by the pressure force caused by the variation of water level in the tub transmitting water to said detergent box (4).
- the washing machine comprises a main screen through which the user is informed about the water intake pressure.
- the washing machine comprises a main screen informing the user about the stage being executed in the water intake pressure controlling algorithm which is predefined or adaptable by a user.
- said flowmeter (3) comprises at least one flowmeter wheel (8) spinning by the effect of the water passing therethrough.
- the washing machine comprises at least one magnetic sensor (2) calculating the number of spins of said flowmeter wheel (8).
- the washing machine comprises at least one magnet (7) triggering said magnetic sensor (2) during spinning of said flowmeter wheel (8).
- low water pressure is determined when the spin speed of said flowmeter wheel (8) is lower than 270 cycles in one minute.
- the washing machine comprises an audible alarm system capable of activating upon determining low water pressure.
- the washing machine comprises a visual/visible alarm system capable of activating upon determining low water pressure.
