Description
METHOD FOR COMBAT THE POLUATION
PRODUCED BY BRAKE DEVICES
The invention relates to a simple and wavering method that is useful to reduce significantly the pollution resulted from the brake devices of the means of transportation. The invention can be used for the means of transportation on rails, such as trains, trams, subway and all types of automobiles from cars to coaches and heavy transportation means and also for the landing gears of the airships.
In the field of the auto means of transportation, there are known a lot of technical solution to eliminate the effects of the exhaust fumes resulted from the functioning of the engines. One can say, without mistaking, that the market solutions are more and more efficient in this field. These solutions consist of scrubbing filters equipped on the circuit for evacuation the exhaust gases and they are managing to retain a big quantity of the undesirable substances resulted from the burning of the fuel.
The disadvantage of the already known solutions is that they solve only the problem of the exhaust gases resulted from the combustion process because this is, for the moment, the main polluting source of the automobiles.
Apart of the pollution produced by the exhaust gases resulted from the combustion process, there is another pollution source which has never been taken into consideration and this is represented by the brake devices. When the brake device is activated, a friction force appears between the friction pads and the friction disk and this force generates the detachment of very fine particles both from the friction pads and from the friction disk; these particles get into the atmosphere under the form of invisible dust and they are very toxic and dangerous for the human health and for the environment.
The technical problem to be solved by the invention is to design a method to combat the pollution produced by the brake devices of the automobile and rail means of transportation.
The method to combat the pollution produced by the brake devices, according to the invention, solves the problem by using some electro-magnetic filters mounted on the support of the friction pads and activated when the brake pedal is actioned/ pressed
The method for combat the pollution produced by the brake devices, according to the invention, presents the following advantages:
It is simple and it requires a shorter time for being set up and it does not require specialised personel;
It is very versatile being possible to be used for the means of transportation on rails, such as trains, trams, subway and all types of automobiles from cars to coaches and heavy transportation means and also for the landing gears of the airships.
The method combats the toxic effect on human beings and environment of the ferrous and non-ferrous dusts especially of the asbestos;
The method can be implemented even in the production stage of means of transportation but it also can be used after production for the means of transportation already in use;
The method allows the recovery of the metallic and non-metallic dusts resulted from braking and reduces the metallic and non-metallic raw material consumption.
Further on, a practical example of the method to combat the pollution produced by the brake devices, according to the invention
No matter the vehicle involved, automobile or on rails, their brake devices consists of at least two friction pads situated on one and the other side of the friction disk that sets in motion each wheel. The friction pads normally get used after 50000-60000 km and they are made of ferrous materials including asbestos.
The friction disks are made of special alloy steel which are metallic materials and they normally get used after 200000 km of rolling.
When the driver of the automobile or of the train or of the tram or the pilot presses the brake, the friction pads get in contact with the friction disk and this contact generates a huge friction force that generates the detachment of very fine particles both from the friction pads and from the friction disk. These metallic and non-metallic particles are very light and they get into the atmosphere, they are inhaled by the people, they cover the vegetation and are eaten by the animals who crop near the roads and they can lead to sever affections of the human and animal health and to the pollution of the environment.
The method for combat the pollution produced by the brake devices comprises the aspiration through ventilation of the dusts resulted from the friction between the friction pads and the friction disk by using some electro-magnetic filters mounted on the on the support of the friction pads and activated when the brake pedal is actioned/ pressed.
After aspiration, the aspirated dust is stored in a special sac which is ussualyy in the endowment of the electro-magnetic filters with the capacity of 150 cm3, for cars and with higher capacity for heavier transportation means that are equiped with bigger wheels, bigger friction pads and friction disks that generate a bigger friction force and implicit more toxic dust.
The aspiration is more efficient on non-metallic particles which are lighter than the metallic ones.
When the electromagnet from the electro-magnetic filter situated at the bottom of the sac is disconnected the non-metallic particles are already stored in the sac but the metallic particles are fall down outside the sac. This is why the aspirator of the filter must function a little longer for about 2-5 seconds so that the metallic dust is also collected in the sac.
Periodically, the sacs containing the mixture of metallic and non-metallic dust are cleared in special containers according to the protection provisions of the law in force and the metallic and non-metallic elements can be separated and recovered by mechanical, chemical and metallurgical processes.

CLAIM
Method for combat the pollution produced by the brake devices, wherein, it goes like this: the dust resulted from the friction between the friction disk and the friction pads is first aspirated through ventilation with the help of some electro-magnetic filters mounted on the support of the friction pads, which are activated when the brake pedal is actioned/ pressed, then, after the aspiration, the aspirate dust is stored in a special sac which is usually in the endowment of the electro-magnetic filters, afterwards the electromegnet is disconnected and then the aspirator of the electro-magnetic filter is functioning another 2-5 seconds so that the metallic dust is also collected in the sac.
