Description
Title: Device for dispensing a binding wire Description
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a work equipment device, comprising a mounting base and at least one roll holder mounted on the mounting base for carrying a roll for dispensing a filament from the roll for further handling.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
These filaments, here defined as wires and more precisely defined as binding wires, are used in the building sector for binding reinforcement bars, metal mesh, beams, walls, columns and so on. In particular, the wire is used in concrete construction, where the binding wire shall provide a secure hold of the reinforcing bars, abbr. rebars, of similar or different diameters. To ensure this secure hold and a proper embedment of the rebars in the concrete the rebars are placed with rebar spacers and connected with binding wire by steel fixers.
Application possibilities wherein different binding wire types come to use:
Wire bag ties, also known as Double loop ties, are a really easy-to-use alternative to tying wire, and professional results are achieved by untrained steel fixer! The ties are bent around the reinforcement intersection and twisted tight in only one or two pulls using a tying tool.
But most times the rebar is tied with binding wire from rolls by pulling the end of the wire from the wire roll and tying the wire by bending and tugging it around the rebars intersection using pliers to tie it tight and to cut it off.
The former are easier for novices to use, but somewhat more expensive, the latter is often the choice of experience rebar tiers.
STATE OF THE ART
Steel fixers working from a loose coil of binding wire usually cut some wire from the coil, tie some rebar and then return to the coil for more. The coil lies on the ground and the steel fixer has to bend down hundreds of times a day causing the risk of back injury. Besides the binding wire around the feet of the steel fixer pose a significant risk of injury as a tripping hazard and because the ends are razor sharp and has been known to cause serious face and eye injuries. Bulk rolls of binding wire worn around the waist gives a constant supply of binding wire, goes wherever the steel fixer goes, and gives the steel fixer free hands to handle and place the rebars. So using a bulk roll dispensing only the working end of the wire and wearing the bulk roll around the waist has led to significant reduction in
injuries as well as in a massive reduction in the amount of binding wire required of the steel fixers. Using bulk rolls worn around the waist is the main standard today.
A purchasable embodiment is a refillable wire dispensing unit designed to be worn at the waist with a belt and a support pad supporting the roll holder where the spools are locked and where empty spools can be replaced in a couple of seconds without the need for the user to remove the belt (1 ).
During and between tying rebar intersections the steel fixer pulls the binding wire from the bulk roll on the waist and holds the end of the binding wire in his hand. This leads to the situation that up to one meter of binding wire is moving around the steel fixer posing a risk of accidents, for example by hooking the wire in a bar or something else. At overhead work the situation is getting worse, with more than one meter binding wire moving around the steel fixer and his head and a risk of strangulation. Reelfix.com describes a reel holder with a belt that can be fastened to the waist of a user.
US 2683000 A also describes a dispensing device constructed to be suspended from the belt of a user.
DE 20201 1001645 U describes a soldering wire dispenser to be strapped aruond the wrist of the user. An object of the present invention is to overcome this risk of accidents caused by the binding wire moving around the steel fixer by reducing the length of the binding wire moving around to a minimum. Such a minimum is achieved if the bulk roll, dispensing the wire directly to the fingertips, is as close as possible to the hand, in this context on the forearm. Another object is to give the person a free hand for holding the rebar when working overhead.
SUMMARY
The present invention discloses a device for dispensing a binding wire, comprising an elongated mounting base stretching between the elbow to the wrist of a user, at least one roll holder mounted on the elbow side of the mounting base for carrying a roll of binding wire. The device further comprises fastening means fixed at the mounting base for fastening the device on the forearm of a person, and at least one guide mounted on the wrist side of the mounting base.
BRIEF DISCRETION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 shows an embodiment with a roll locked on the roll holder with a screw, the guide guiding the filament from the roll to the hand, belts with belt buckles.
Figure 2 shows the same embodiment as in figure 1 without the roll. It shows the roll holder mounted on the mounting base, and in the roll holder the internal thread.
DISCRETION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention overcomes the described problem and disadvantage by providing a device for dispensing a filament 4, where the device comprises a mounting base 1 and at least one roll holder 2 mounted on the mounting base 01 for carrying a roll 3. The device is characterized in that it further comprises fastening means 5, 6 fixed at the mounting
base 1 to fasten the device on the forearm of a person, and dispensing the filament 4 from the roll 3 for further handling direct to the hand of the person.
Ensuring the shortest possible dispensing distance from the bulk roll 3 to the fingertips, the mounting base 1 is worn on the forearm, preferable on the inner side, and is made of a material strong enough that all essential, namely the roll holder 2 and the fastening means 5, 6, a guide 7 and a wire brake, can be mounted on it. For safety and practical reasons, the mounting base 1 is made of a material which fits to the forearm, such a material is preferable leather. The fastening means 5, 6 fixed on the mounting base have to be strong enough to ensure that the dispensing device holds on the forearm under all the rough conditions in building and construction industry, considering a bulk roll 3 of up to 2 kg and strong pull forces. The fastening means 5, 6 are preferable broad belts made of leather. Another option is Velcro.
A preferable embodiment of the invention is shown in figure 2. The dispensing device, more precisely the mounting base 1, is formed and has the size like an arm-guard or a bracer. This mounting device 01 as well as the at least two belts 5 fixed on it are made of leather. On the elbow-side a roll holder 2 is fixedly mounted and it is big enough to hold a bulk roll 3. The roll holder 2 of this embodiment is a metal peg with a diameter adjusted to the roll. On the wrist-side a guide 7, formed like a bow, is mounted on the mounting base 1 to guide the binding wire 4 safely to the fingertips.
In another embodiment, a brake or holding means is mounted on the mounting base 1 to avoid undesired movement of the filament 4.
In another embodiment, the roll holder 2 has an internal thread 8 in order to lock the roll 3 to the roll holder with a screw 9.
In another embodiment, the roll holder is able to use, hold, and lock known and used standard bulk rolls for binding wires.
As a matter of course all combinations of the described embodiments are possible and useable.
