Abstract

The present invention relates to a hydrofoil kit for use with pedal-powered compact boats (1), which is basically composed of two wings, a main wing (3) and a secondary wing, which may be fitted to the boat in order to allow, from a certain take-off speed, the entire weight of the boat and its occupant to be supported by the two wings which raise the entire assembly, enabling the floats to be positioned above the surface of the water, thereby eliminating any hydrodynamic drag on the floats and enabling the craft to attain a high speed. The present invention simplifies the way in which the main wing (3) is attached to the pedal boat (1), enabling same to be easily installed and removed and thereby making it practical in nature.

Description

Relatório Descritivo da Patente de Invenção para "KIT Report of the Invention Patent for "KIT
HIDROFÓLIO". HYDROFOLI ".
The present invention relates to a hydrofoil kit for use in compact pedal boats according to PCT / BR2015 / 050015.
The hydrofoil kit consists basically of two wings, a main wing and a secondary wing, that can be adapted to the boat allowing, from a certain speed of take-off, the whole weight of the boat and its occupant is supported by the two wings , which raise the whole assembly allowing the floats to be positioned above the surface of the water, eliminating all hydrodynamic drag of the floats and allowing the vessel to reach great speed.
The first pedal-powered boat with hydrofoil to support a flight was the Flying Fish in 1983. The Flying Fish was developed by American engineers Alec Brooks and Allan Abbott. Since then several pedal boats and hydrofoils have been manufactured, however, none have been successful in marketing.
The hydrofoil vessels that are most successful in commercialization are driven by the oscillatory movement of the main wing and have the characteristic of not having floats. One of them is marketed by the name "Pumpabike", and refers to the patent US 6,099,369. The driver stands and cyclically pushes the foot support, which transmits this oscillating movement to a hydrofoil that sustains and propels the set forward. The disadvantage of this invention is that it does not allow the driver to rest, because as the cyclic movements cease, the equipment loses its support and sinks.
The present invention simplifies the way the main wing is attached to the pedal boat, allowing it to be easily installed and removed, imparting a practicality that does not exist in hydrofoil pedal boats of the current state of the art and that have impeded its commercial success .
As configurações preferidas da presente invenção serão agora descritas, somente como exemplo, com referência às figuras em anexo, em que: A figura 1 é uma vista em perspectiva que mostra o barco compacto movido a pedal com o kit hidrofólio instalado de acordo com a invenção "kit hidrofólio"; Preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying figures, in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the compact pedal boat with the hydrofoil kit installed in accordance with the invention "hydrofoil kit";

The compact pedal boat (1) with the installed hydrofoil kit can be seen in figure 1.
A figura 2 mostra as duas barras longitudinais (2) e a asa principal (3). Figure 2 shows the two longitudinal bars (2) and the main wing (3). The longitudinal bars (2) are identical and have two through holes (4). A pin (5) is disposed perpendicular to it. The pin 5 may be of the fixed type or may have position adjustment as shown in Figure 3.
Figure 4 shows how the longitudinal bars (2) are installed in the compact pedal boat. The longitudinal rod 2 must be positioned with the pin 5 facing downwards in accordance with Figure 4 and so that the two through holes 4 coincide with the engaging holes 6 of the connecting rod 7 ). Thereafter the connecting rods 7 are to be inserted, first passing through the through hole 4 and being subsequently engaged in the engaging hole 6. The process must be repeated on the other side with the second longitudinal rod (2), which must be positioned symmetrically to the first. Figure 5 shows how the main wing 3 is fixed. The tube 8, which is positioned parallel to the main wing 3, has two through holes 9 which are engaged in the pins 5 present in the longitudinal bars 2. After insertion, counter-pins (10) are added which prevent loosening.
Figure 6 shows another alternative for securing the main wing (3) to the longitudinal bars (2). In this case, the main wing 3 does not have the tube 8, but a fixing element 11 at the end of each of the supports 12, allowing each fixing element 11 to be fixed directly in the respective longitudinal bar (2) with possibility of position adjustment.
