Thus, as shown in FIG. 6, the rear end of the old film 22 after cutting, ie, the rear end of the product portion 22a of the old film 22, and the front end of the new film 32 after cutting, ie, the product portion of the new film 32. The tip of 32a is joined from both the front side and the back side. The surplus portions 22b and 32b of the new and old films 22 and 32 separated from the product portions 22a and 32a of the new and old films 22 and 32 in the process of bonding are separated after separation (or the old and new films 22 and 32). After bonding).
As described above, in the butt-joining apparatus 10, as shown in FIG. 7A, the old and new films 22 and 32 are overlapped (superposing step), and in this state, as shown in FIG. The new and old films 22 and 32 are cut (cutting step). By this cutting, the old film 22 is divided into the downstream product portion 22a and the upstream surplus portion 22b. Further, the new film 32 is divided into the surplus portion 32 b on the downstream side and the product portion 32 a on the upstream side by this cutting.
Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 7C, the surplus portion 32b of the new film 32 is separated from the product portion 22a of the old film 22 (new film separation step). Then, as shown in FIG. 6D, the rear end of the product portion 22a of the old film 22 (the rear end of the old film 22 formed by cutting) and the front end of the product portion 32a of the new film 32 (formed by cutting In the state where the front end of the new film 32 is in contact with each other, the joining tape is provided from the surface side to the butt portion across the rear end of the product portion 22a of the old film 22 and the front end of the product portion 32a of the new film 32 72 is stuck, and new and old films 22 and 32 are joined from the surface side (surface joining step).
After this, as shown in FIG. 7E, the surplus portion 22b of the old film 22 is separated from the product portion 32a of the new film 32 (old film separation step). And as shown to the figure (F), the junction tape 82 for backs is stuck from the back side to the butt part straddling the back end of the product part 22a of the old film 22, and the tip of the product part 32a of the new film 32. The new and old films 22 and 32 are also bonded from the back side (back side bonding step).
When the new and old films 22 and 32 are joined by the method described above, they are held between the cutting step and the joining step (in the present embodiment, the surface joining step), that is, held between the cutting drum 40 and the cutting junction drum 42 After the new and old films 22 and 32 are cut in the overlapped state (see FIGS. 3 and 7B), the joining position (FIGS. 4 and 7C and 7D) is obtained via the guide member 60. ) Is conveyed while the rear end of the product portion 22a of the old film 22 and the front end of the product portion 32a of the new film 32 are in contact with each other.
In this transport, the product portion 32a of the new film 32 is transported in a state of being superimposed on the surplus portion 22b of the old film 22 (see FIGS. 3 and 4). However, although the surplus portion 22b of the old film 22 is attracted to the outer peripheral surface of the cutting and joining drum 42 and is conveyed along with the rotation of the cutting and bonding drum 42, the old film 22 is produced for the product portion 32a of the new film 32. As shown in FIG. 8, the product portion 32a of the new film 32 may be misaligned as shown in FIG. 8, or the product portion 32a of the new film 32 may be curled as shown in FIG. There is a possibility that In such a case, the surface bonding tape 72 also sticks to the surplus portion 22 b of the old film 22, which makes it difficult to remove the surplus portion 22 b of the old film 22. If the amount of displacement or curl of the product portion 32a of the new film 32 is large, the old film 22 and the new film 32 may not be joined together.
In order to prevent such a problem, in the butt-joining apparatus 10 of the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 6, a sprayer 90 (adhesive supply mechanism) is provided. Then, as shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 10, an adhesive 92 for temporarily (separably) bonding the new and old films 22, 32 between the new and old films 22, 32 by the sprayer 90. In the present embodiment, the liquid, more specifically water, is supplied by spraying. That is, prior to the above-described superposition step, an adhesive supply step is provided for supplying an adhesive 92 between the new and old films 22 and 32.
In FIG. 2, the sprayer 90 moves from the spraying position to the spraying position located between the new and old films 22 and 32 and from the spraying position to the width direction (the front side (or back side) of the films 22 and 32) It is installed on the machine frame 48 so as to be movable between the new and old films 22 and 32 and the retracted position retracted. Then, the sprayer 90 moves to the spray position when bonding the old and new films 22 and 32, sprays the bonded body 92 between the old film 22 and the new film 32, and retracts to the retracted position after spraying. In the present embodiment, the sprayer 90 is provided movably between the spray position and the retracted position, but the sprayer 90 is fixed at the retracted position (outside of the old and new films 22 and 32 in the width direction). An adhesive 92 may be sprayed between the films 22 and 32.
In addition, the spraying conditions such as the particle size of the adhesive 92 to be sprayed and the amount of the adhesive 92 to be sprayed (the spray amount per unit time and the total spray amount (the product of the spray amount per unit time and the spray time)) Can be set appropriately, but in the present embodiment, the adhesive 92 formed after contacting with the old and new films 22 and 32 has a particle diameter of 20 μm or less before contacting the old and new films 22 and 32. The spraying conditions are determined such that the thickness of the layer (average thickness) is 1 μm or less.
The range (spray range) in which the adhesive 92 is sprayed can be set as appropriate, but the adhesive 92 is an old film in the period from the cutting step to the bonding step (surface bonding step) (see FIGS. 3 and 4). It is provided to enhance the adhesion between the 22 surplus portions 22b and the product portion 32a of the new film 32 and to prevent the displacement and curling of the product portion 32a of the new film 32. For this reason, in the present embodiment, the spray range of the adhesive 92 in the transport direction of the old and new films 22 and 32 is a range including the upstream side and the downstream side of the planned cutting position 94 and the downstream of the planned cutting position 94 The upstream side (that is, the side on which the product portion 32a of the new film 32 is present) is wider than the side (see FIGS. 7A, 7B, and 10). In the present embodiment, the spray range of the adhesive 92 in the width direction of the new and old films 22 and 32 is the entire width direction of the new and old films 22 and 32.
As described above, according to the present invention, by supplying the adhesive 92 between the new film 22 and the old film 32, it is possible to improve the adhesion when the old film 22 and the old film 22 are superimposed, so the problem described above That is, the problem (see FIGS. 8 and 9) that the new film 32 is displaced or warped between the cutting step and the bonding step is prevented, and smooth (smooth) bonding becomes possible.
Further, in the present embodiment, since the liquid is used as the adhesive 92 and is supplied by spraying it, the supply of the adhesive 92 is easy, and it is possible to easily prevent the deviation and curling of the new film 32. Furthermore, in the present embodiment, since water is used as the adhesive body 92, the surplus portions 22b and 32b of the old and new films 22 and 32 are used as product portions as compared with the case where a commercially available adhesive is used as the adhesive body. It is easy to separate them from 22a and 32a (to release the adhesion state of the new and old films 22 and 32 by the adhesive 92), and there is no case that the smooth joining is hindered. In addition, since water, that is, a liquid that is vaporized without heating, is used as the adhesive 92, the adhesive is removed, such as a heating device or a wiping device, as compared with the case where a liquid that is not vaporized by nonheating is used as the adhesive. It is possible to easily prevent the shift and the twist of the new film 32 without providing a dedicated device or process for the purpose.
In addition, this invention is not limited to the said embodiment, It can change suitably about the structure of a detail. For example, in the above embodiment, an example in which the film is bonded on both the front surface side and the rear surface side has been described, but the film may be bonded on one side (one of the front surface side and the rear surface side). In addition, the thickness of the film to be joined may be any thickness. However, it is more effective to apply the present invention to an apparatus or method for bonding a thin film (for example, having a thickness (average of thickness) of 25 μm or less) which is easily shifted or distorted.
In the above embodiment, the spray range of the adhesive in the width direction of the film is described as the entire area in the width direction of the film, but only a part of the film in the width direction may be the spray range of the adhesive. However, in the case where only a part in the width direction is set as the spray range of the adhesive, it is preferable to set the range including the most downstream portion in the planned cutting position 94 (see FIGS. 7 and 10) as the spray range. .
That is, in the above embodiment, the cutter 50 is inclined at an angle θ with respect to the width direction of the cutting drum 40 in order to improve the cutting quality, and the new and old films 22 and 32 are inclined at an angle θ with respect to the width direction. In the state where the planned cutting position 94 is inclined at an angle θ, it becomes a long line shape in the width direction, and one end of the planned cutting position 94 in the width direction is located downstream and the other end is Located upstream. In such a case, a range including one end in the width direction of the planned cutting position 94 (the most downstream portion of the planned cutting position 94), that is, a range including the leading portion when transported is defined as the spray range. This can more effectively prevent the problem of deviation or curl compared to the case of performing spraying to the other range.
Moreover, although the said embodiment demonstrated by the example which sprays and supplies an adhesive body, you may supply an adhesive body by methods other than a spray, such as apply | coating and supplying an adhesive body. Furthermore, although the example using the water which vaporizes by non-heating as an adhesive body was demonstrated, you may use liquids other than the water which vaporizes by non-heating as an adhesive body. In addition, as the adhesive, a liquid vaporized by heating may be used. Furthermore, the gas which has vaporized the adhesive is sent between the new and old films 22 and 32, and the gas is condensed on the surface of the old film 22 and the new film 32 to form an adhesive between the new and old films 22 and 32. It may be supplied.
Moreover, you may use the double-sided tape 102 as an adhesive body like the butt-joining apparatus 100 shown in FIG. In FIG. 11, the butt-joining apparatus 100 is provided with an affixing apparatus 104 (adhesion body supply mechanism) for supplying a double-sided tape 102 having an adhesive layer formed on both sides as an adhesion body between new and old films 22 and 32. . In the description using the drawings after FIG. 11, the same members as those in the above-described embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description thereof is omitted.
The affixing device 104 is provided movably between an affixing position positioned between the new and old films 22 and 32 and a retracted position retracted to the front side (or back side) of FIG. 11 from the affixing position. There is. Then, at the affixing position, the affixing device 104 affixes (supplys) the double-sided tape 102 to the old film 22 and then retracts to the retraction position. Note that the double-sided tape 102 may be attached (supplied) to the new film 32. Alternatively, the double-sided adhesive tape 102 may be attached (supplied) manually to the old film 22 or the new film 32 in advance without providing the attaching device 104.
As shown in FIG. 12, in the present example, the double-sided tape 102 is supplied (pasted) on the upstream side of the planned cutting position 94. Further, in this example, as the double-sided tape 102, one having a higher adhesive strength on the side of the old film 22 than that on the side of the new film 32 is used. By doing this, when separating the surplus portion 22b of the old film 22 from the product portion 32a of the new film 32, the double-sided tape 102 is stuck to the surplus portion 22b of the old film 22 and is separated from the product portion 32a of the new film 32. As a result, it is possible to omit the process of removing the double-sided adhesive tape 102 from the product portion 32a of the new film 32 later, which enables smooth bonding.
Note that, as shown in FIG. 13, the double-sided tape 102 may be attached in a range including the upstream side and the downstream side of the planned cutting position 94. However, in this case, it is preferable that the adhesive force provided between the adhesive layer provided on one side of the double-sided tape 102 and the adhesive layer provided on the opposite side be different. Furthermore, when the adhesive layer on the side of the old film 22 has a weaker adhesive force than the adhesive layer on the side of the new film 32, the double-sided tape 102 remains on the product portion 32a of the new film 32. It is preferable to determine the size and the attachment range of the back surface bonding tape 82 and the double-sided tape 102 so as to be covered by the sheet 82. On the other hand, when the adhesive layer on the new film 32 side has a weaker adhesive force than the adhesive layer on the old film 22 side, the double-sided tape 102 remains on the product portion 22a of the old film 22 and this whole surface is the surface It is preferable to determine the size and the application position of the surface bonding tape 72 and the double-sided tape 102 so as to be covered by the bonding tape 72. By doing this, since the double-sided tape 102 (adhesive layer) is not exposed (not exposed to the surface) from the product portions 22a, 32a of the joined old and new films 22, 32, process contamination can be reduced.
In the above embodiment, two rolls, the old roll around which the old film is wound and the new roll around which the new film is wound, are supported by a common device (turret device), and from this common device Although the example of supplying the new and old films to the butt-joining apparatus has been described, an apparatus for supporting the old roll and an apparatus for supporting the new roll are separately provided, and the new and old films are separately provided to the butt-joining apparatus And may be supplied. Also, although the example in which the film wound up in roll form is supplied to the butt-joining apparatus has been described, for example, a butt-joining apparatus as it is without winding up a strip-shaped film produced in a film manufacturing process.
