Abstract
The disclosure includes embodiment of a system to flush catheter bags, comprising of a Flush Tube with open/close valve, and a Catheter By-Pass with a three way stopcock. The catheter outlet tube connects to the Catheter By-Pass which is then connected to the urine bag. The Flush Tube is connected to the Catheter By-Pass to complete the system, herein called the SANDY FLUSH SYSTEM.
Description
DESCRIPTION
field of the invention
I ne : present invention relates generally to a system that flush catheter bags without the bag being removed from its secure position on the user.
Background of the invention
When using a catheter, a collection bag for the urine is often placed along the leg of the user. This bag is fitted with an open close valve, to allow the user to empty the bag. When the valvejs open urine flows out of the bag under the force of gravity. However not all of the urine drains out and the residual buildup can create a pungent odour, which can be conveyed by the user of the said bag.
To avoid this problem users have to remove bags, wash or dispose of same. This is not always convenient, especially during long distance travel and attending conferences and training programmes.
Some users of the urine bags encounter embarrassing situations as individuals may seek to avoid interaction when the odour is present. This behaviour is accentuated in young children who may completely avoid ineteraction with adults , even their grandparents, once the pungent odour is present. It appears that the pungent odour erects a none physical barrier between users of the urine bag and others. This situation if left unchecked can negatively impact users level of social interactions and quality of life.
There is a need for a system to allow persons who use catheter urine bags to be able to flush the bags when its being emptied.
Summary of the Invention
One embodiment of the present invention provides a flushing system for a catheter urine bag namely the Sandy Flush System, comprising a catheter By -Pass and a Flush Tube.
Referring now to the figures in detail FIG.l illustrates one embodiment of a catheter urine bag Flush System namely Sandy Flush System.
The Catheter By-Pass and the Flush Tube, as shown in figure 1, is made of medical grade plastic and clear medical grade plastic tube. The Catheter By-Pass connects between the outflow of the catheter, figure 2A and the entry valve of the urine bag figure 2B.
When the urine bag is to be flushed, the stopcock at 2A is closed to prevent liquid from entering the catheter.
The Flush Tube is connected to a half inch angle valve via a union and "0" ring at one end(f igure 3). The angle valve is connected to standard plumbing.
The other end of the Flush Tube figure 3D, connects to the Catheter By-Pass at figure 2E. An open/closed valve is installed to control the flow of liquid from the Flush Tube (figure 3C).
When connection is completed fche draining valve of the urine bag is open to re move urine and flushing of the bag begins The stopcock at Figure 2A is closed and;-the Flush Tube valve open allowing liquid to enter the urine bag removing residual urine. The urine bag can be filled twice with liquid to ensure a complete flush. Additionally, an anti-germicidal agent with deodorizer can be poured into the Flush Tube before connecting to the Catheter By-Pass.
Claims
1. Sandy Flush System comprising: a Catheter By-Pass, with three way stopcock to allow urine to pass through tube to urine bag, a connection to the top of the urine bag, a connection to catheter out flow tube, a connection to Flush Tube.
2. The Sandy Flush System wherein the Catheter By-Pass intake tube, out flow tube, and Flush Tube intake are at an angle to each other.
3Λ Flush Tube assembly comprising: a clear plastic tube with an "O'Ying and union on one end to connect to an half inch angle valve, an open close valve to allow liquid to flow through tube into Catheter By-Pass, a connection to Catheter By-Pass.
