Description

CASH SLOT OPENING/CLOSING SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATIC TELLER MACHINES
Technical Field
This invention relates to a cash slot opening/closing mechanism which is provided in cash slots of devices used in ATM/VTM machines and which prevents an external intervention during the money depositing or drawing transactions.
Prior Art
The opening/closing systems connected to the cash machines used in VTM machines in the market are modules which are open to external interventions and can cause the bank to lose money. These opening/closing systems can easily open with the intervention of a third person during the withdrawal step and these devices are such that they can be manipulate from the outside. For example, if the cash slot is opened and a mechanism that may hold the money that is being deposited is placed, there is a possibility for the money to be stuck in the mechanism and not be given to the customer in subsequent money transactions. This is caused because the cash slot can be easily opened from the outside. Therefore, there are no sufficient security precautions in the systems that are available in the market.
To be able prevent such manipulations, there is a need for a mechanism where opening the cash slot from the outside is impossible and the whole control depends on the command of the cash machine.
By preventing the manipulations from external interventions by means of the lock provided in the cash slot opening/closing mechanism of the invention, it is possible to enable the cash transactions from ATM and VTM's to be much safer.
Problems to be Solved by the Invention
The object of the invention is to provide a cash slot opening/closing mechanism which prevents external intervention to the cash slot during the money withdrawal and deposit transactions. The control of the mechanism of the invention is connected only to the command from the cash machine and this way the security of the teller machines is provided. Detailed Description of the Invention
The object of the present invention is achieved by "a cash slot opening/closing mechanism" represented in the attached figure, in which;
Figure 1 - is the view of the cash slot opening/closing mechanism of the invention.
The parts in the figures have each been numbered, and the references corresponding to these numbers have been given below:

4. Spring
5. Lock mechanism

A cash slot opening/closing system (1 ) for automatic teller machines, which prevents external intervention during money deposit or withdrawal transactions comprises in its most basic form:
- At least a body (2),
- At least a cover (3) enabling a cash slot to be opened/closed,
- At least a spring (4) which facilitates a closing movement of the cover (3) on the body
(2),
- At least a lock mechanism (5) preventing the cover (3) from opening and allowing the cover (3) to be opened, by being active/passive upon the command received from a cash machine,
- At least a tab in the form of a projection on the cover (3),
- At least a selenoid (51 ) preventing the cover (3) from opening when it is at a closed state by constituting an obstruction for the tab, upon the command received from the cash machine, - At least a lock connection (52) providing the connection between the cover (3) and the selenoid (51 ) and enabling the cover (3) to be opened while the selenoid (51 ) is at an open state,
- At least a power source (6) providing the required power to facilitate the cover (3) to open and close,
- At least a strip connected to the power source (6), which enables the motion obtained from the power source (6) to be transmitted to the lock connection (52) and the cover (3) to be opened,
- At least a roller (7) enabling the strip to be conveyed and guiding the movement thereof, - At least a sensor (8) which enables to sense an opened and a closed state of the cover
(3) and the lock mechanism (5).
The cash slot opening/closing mechanism (1 ) of the invention essentially comprises at least a body (2), at least a cover (3), at least a spring (4), at least a lock mechanism (5), at least a tab, at least a selenoid (51 ), at least a lock connection (52), at least a power source (6), at least a strip, at least a roller (7), at least a sensor (8), at least a hub (9), at least an electronic circuit and at least a controller.
The body (2) of the invention is the part which all the other components are connected to and which carries all the components. The cover (3), upon receiving the command from the cash machine, opens before cash withdrawal and cash depositing on the body (2) and again upon receiving the command from the cash machine, closes over the body (2).
The springs (4) are positioned in two seats provided on the body (2) and are located such that they are loose when the cover (3) is closed and are tightened when the latter is opened. These springs (4) facilitate the cover (3) to be closed. However, if the lock mechanism (5) of the cover (3) loses its connection from the power source (6) or the strip, the security is enhanced by the cover assuming its closed position. The lock mechanism (5) of the invention is composed of at least a tab, at least a selenoid (51 ) and at least a lock connection (52). The lock mechanism (5) prevents the cover (3) from being opened and allows the cover (3) to be opened, by being active/passive upon the command received from a cash machine. When the selenoid (51 ) is in a closed position, a metal tab attached to the cover (3) prevents the cover (3) from being opened by constituting an obstruction in front of the latter. The cover can be opened when the selenoid (51 ) is in an opened position. The selenoid (51 ) can open/close only with an electrical signal from the cash machine.
The lock connection (52) provides the connection between the cover (3) and the selenoid (51 ). While in its opened position the selenoid (51 ) enables the cover (3) to be opened.
The power source (6) of the invention provides the required power to facilitate the cover (3) to open and close.
In an embodiment of the invention, the power source (6) is a servo motor. The motion obtained from the power source (6) is transmitted to roller (7) via the strip. The motion transmission from the power source to the strip is realized by means of a motor hub (9).
The strip is used to move (push-pull) the cover downward-upward (an opening direction and a closing direction).
In an embodiment of the invention, an extremity of the strip is connected to the lock connection (52) and the other is connected to the power source (6) or the motor hub. The strip is preferably made of a rigid material, which may be a thread, a wire or a cable. A roller (7) is used to guide the movement of the strip. One of the rollers is preferably positioned in the servo motor and the other one is positioned in the lower part of the cover (3) such that it provides the cover (3) an upward movement and a downward movement.
The sensors (8) sense the states of the elements of the system. In one embodiment of the invention, an optical sensor (8) senses the opened/closed states of the selenoid (51 ). The selenoid (51 ) opens electronically before the cover (3) is opened, then it is checked if it has been opened by the aid of the optical sensor (8) and if it is at an opened state, the cover (3) is opened by the activation of the power source (6).
The commands from the cash machine are received by means of the electronic circuit, the coordination between the power source (6), the selenoid (51 ) and the optical sensors (8) is provided. The electronic circuit issues commands to all electronic components in accordance with the incoming information from the cash machine and the sensors (8), and is capable of sending a signal to the cash machine concerning the cover (3) being opened/closed.
In an embodiment of the invention, the commands are received from a controller other than the cash machine. The controller issues commands in accordance with the information received from the sensor (8).
