Abstract
本発明は、被処理物の表面に適用することで該表面に吸水性と撥水性とを容易に付与し得る表面処理用組成物を提供することを課題とする。本発明の表面処理用組成物は、(A)揮発性溶媒に溶解可能な吸水性ポリマー、及び(B)前記吸水性ポリマー以外のポリマーであって揮発性溶媒に溶解可能であり且つ疎水性被膜の形成能を有するポリマーを含む。(B)の揮発性溶媒に溶解するポリマーが、エチレン性不飽和単量体由来の共重合体又はシリコーン共重合体であることも好適である。表面処理用組成物は、更に噴射剤を有することも好適である。
Description
本発明は、表面処理用組成物に関する。
水の吸収に用いられる吸水性ポリマーは、一般に高分子の架橋体からなるので成形性に欠ける。そこで特許文献1においては、吸水性を有する溶剤可溶性樹脂を用いて、該樹脂を任意の形状に成形することが提案されている。同文献に記載の技術では、成形性を有する吸水性ポリマーについて、成形性及び吸水性以外の性質は求めておらず、専ら吸水性ポリマーの成形性について検討されているに過ぎない。
吸水性ポリマーの成形性とは別の観点に基づく吸水性ポリマーに関する従来の技術に関し、特許文献2には、水分と接触したときのエンタルピー変化が-0.05kJ/g以下である化合物と吸水性高分子とを含有する繊維処理剤組成物が記載されている。同文献に記載の技術は、繊維製品の着用又は使用に際して、塗布やスプレーにより、繊維製品の着用時又は使用時に快適な温感又は冷感効果を付与することを目的としている。
ところで吸水性ポリマーを含む吸収体は、液の吸収保持は可能であるものの、水を保持した状態で加圧されると該吸収体からの液の逆戻りが起こる場合がある。したがって、吸水性ポリマーに撥水性を付与して液の逆戻りを防止することが望ましい。しかし吸水性と撥水性とは相反する性質であることから、両者を両立させることは容易でない。
したがって本発明の課題は、処理対象物の表面に吸水性と撥水性とを同時に付与し、液の逆戻りを抑えて、処理対象物に防水性を付与する表面処理用組成物を提供することにある。
本発明は、(A)揮発性溶媒に溶解可能な吸水性ポリマー、及び(B)前記吸水性ポリマー以外のポリマーであって揮発性溶媒に溶解可能であり且つ疎水性被膜の形成能を有するポリマーを含む表面処理用組成物を提供するものである。
また本発明は、吸水性物品の製造方法であって、
前記の表面処理用組成物によって前記吸水性物品を構成するいずれかの部材の表面を処理する工程を有する、吸水性物品の製造方法を提供するものである。

また本発明は、(A)揮発性溶媒に溶解可能な吸水性ポリマー、及び(B)前記吸水性ポリマー以外のポリマーであって揮発性溶媒に溶解可能であり且つ疎水性被膜の形成能を有するポリマーを含む表面処理用組成物が、網目状構造を有する部材における該網目状構造の少なくとも一部を膜状に被覆している吸水性物品を提供するものである。
また本発明は、被処理物の表面に、前記の表面処理用組成物を施す工程を有する被処理物の表面処理方法を提供するものである。
更に本発明は、被処理物の表面に、前記の表面処理用組成物を施して、該表面の吸水性を向上させる工程を有する被処理物の表面の吸水性向上方法を提供するものである。
本発明によれば、被処理物の表面に適用することで該表面に吸水性と撥水性とを容易に付与し、防水性を付与する表面処理用組成物が提供される。
以下本発明を、その好ましい実施形態に基づき説明する。本発明は、表面処理用組成物に関するものである。本発明の表面処理用組成物は、その使用状態において一般に流体である。本発明の表面処理用組成物は、これを被処理物に適用することで、該被処理物の表面における該表面処理用組成物の適用域に液体の吸水保持性及び撥水性を同時に獲得させ、液の逆戻りを抑えて、処理対象物に防水性を獲得させるものである。なお、本発明における防水性とは、(i)吸水性ポリマーの配合に起因する液を吸収する効果と、(ii)塗布対象に吸収しきれなかった液が該塗布対象にしみ込んでシミが生じることを、該塗布対象に付与した撥水性によって抑制する効果とが同時に発現することを言う。
本発明の表面処理用組成物は、その構成成分の一つとして、(A)吸水性ポリマーを含んでいる。吸水性ポリマーは、水を吸収保持して膨潤するヒドロゲルを形成する材料であることが好ましく、例えば自重の3倍以上、より好ましくは10倍以上、更に好ましくは20倍以上、より更に好ましくは30倍以上の質量の水を吸収可能なものが好ましく用いられる。また、この吸水性ポリマーは、揮発性溶媒に溶解するものである。
「揮発性溶媒に溶解可能」とは、本発明の表面処理用組成物の使用温度において、100gのエタノール/水=90/10(質量比)混合溶媒と、(A)の吸水性ポリマー5gとを混合して20分間撹拌したときに、該溶媒中に残存する未溶解のポリマーの質量が0.1g以下である溶解性を有することを指す。
(A)の吸水性ポリマーの溶解度は、エタノールと水とを、質量比9/1、7/3、6/4、4/6、3/7、1/9で混合した混合溶媒のうち、混合溶媒100gに対して、25℃で(A)の吸水性ポリマーが最も多く溶解する比率の混合溶媒を用いて測定する。密閉容器中で、100gの前記混合溶媒と、粉末状の(A)を20分間撹拌しても溶けなくなるまで加え、加えた(A)の質量a1(g)と、容器の内容物をろ紙(アドバンテック社製、No.5c、12cm)でろ過し、揮発性溶媒を揮発させた後に、ろ紙上に残った(A)の質量a2(g)を測定する。このとき、a1-a2を溶解度(g)とする。(A)の吸水性ポリマーの溶解度は、表面処理用組成物への配合を容易にする観点から、好ましくは1g以上であり、更に好ましくは10g以上である。該溶解度の上限値に特に制限はなく、高ければ高いほど好ましいが、3g程度であれば十分に満足すべき効果が得られる。
(A)の吸水性ポリマーとしては、例えば、飽和ビスメチレンジフェニルジイソシアネート(SMDI)を含む共重合体、及びヘキサメチルジイソシアネート(HDI)を含む共重合体などのポリウレタンからなるものが好適なものとして挙げられる。あるいは、ジメチルアクリルアミド(DMAA)を含む共重合体、親水部を有するセグメントを含むトリブロック共重合体又はマルチブロック共重合体等も好適なものとして挙げられる。飽和ビスメチレンジフェニルジイソシアネート(SMDI)を含む共重合体としては、市販品として「アクアコークTWB」(商品名:住友精化株式会社製)が挙げられる。それ以外に「アキュリン46N」(商品名:ダウ・ケミカル株式会社製)、「アキュリン44」(商品名:ダウ・ケミカル株式会社製)等が挙げられる。ヘキサメチルジイソシアネート(HDI)を含む共重合体の市販品としては、例えば「アデカノールGT-700」(商品名:株式会社ADEKA社製)等が挙げられる。ジメチルアクリルアミド(DMAA)を含む共重合体としては、例えばジメチルアクリルアミド(DMAA)とN-t-ブチルアクリルアミド(TBAA)とのブロック共重合体、ジメチルアクリルアミド(DMAA)とウレイドピリミジノン(UPy)とのランダム共重合体等が挙げられる。
(A)の吸水性ポリマーは、これを揮発性溶媒に溶解させる前の状態において、一般に粒子の形状をしている。吸水性ポリマーの粒子の形状には、例えば球状タイプ、球状凝集タイプ、塊状タイプ、俵状タイプ及び不定形タイプなどがあり、本発明においてはいずれの形状であっても特に制限なく用いることができる。揮発性溶媒に溶解させる前の状態において、吸水性ポリマーは、その平均粒径が、本発明の表面処理用組成物で処理した対象物からの吸水性ポリマーの脱落を防ぎ、粉じんの舞立ちを抑制する観点から、1μm以上であることが好ましく、20μm以上であることが更に好ましく、40μm以上であることが一層好ましい。また、平均粒径は、ポリマーの溶解所要時間を短縮する観点から、5000μm以下であることが好ましく、1000μm以下であることが更に好ましく、100μm以下であることが一層好ましい。吸水性ポリマーの粒子の平均粒径は、1μm以上5000μm以下であることが好ましく、20μm以上1000μm以下であることが更に好ましく、40μm以上100μm以下であることが一層好ましい。
吸水性ポリマーの平均粒径は、JIS Z 8825:2013で規定するレーザー回折法によって測定される。
(A)の吸水性ポリマーは、その形状が上述の如何なる場合であっても、十分な液の吸収容量を確保する観点から、その吸水量が、25℃において5g/g以上であることが好ましく、10g/g以上であることが更に好ましく、25g/g以上であることが一層好ましい。また、液の吸収に起因する膨潤によって脱落しないようにする観点から、40g/g以下であることが好ましく、35g/g以下であることが更に好ましく、30g/g以下であることが一層好ましい。具体的には、(A)の吸水性ポリマーは、25℃において、5g/g以上40g/g以下であることが好ましく、10g/g以上35g/g以下であることが更に好ましく、25g/g以上30g/g以下であることが一層好ましい。
前記の吸水量は、JIS K 7223(1996)に準拠して測定する。ナイロン製の織布(三力製作所販売、品名:ナイロン網、規格:250メッシュ)を幅10cm、長さ40cmの長方形に切断して長手方向中央で二つ折りにし、両端をヒートシールして幅10cm(内寸9cm)、長さ20cmのナイロン袋を作製する。次いで、測定試料である吸水性ポリマー1.00gを精秤し、作製したナイロン袋の底部に均一になるように入れる。次いで、試料の入ったナイロン袋を、25℃に調温した生理食塩水(0.9質量%塩化ナトリウム水溶液)に浸漬させる。そして浸漬開始から1時間後にナイロン袋を生理食塩水から取り出し、1時間垂直状態に吊るして水切りした後、遠心脱水器(コクサン(株)製、型式H-130C特型)を用いて脱水する。脱水条件は、143G(800rpm)で10分間とする。脱水後、試料の質量を測定し、下記式に従って目的とする吸水量を算出する。

前記式中、a’は遠心脱水後の試料及びナイロン袋の総質量(g)、bはナイロン袋の吸水前(乾燥時)の質量(g)、cは試料の吸水前(乾燥時)の質量(g)を表す。
測定は5回行い(n=5)、上下各1点の値を削除し、残る3点の平均値を測定値とする。また、測定は23±2℃、湿度50±5%で行い、測定の前に試料を同環境で24時間以上保存した上で測定する。

前記式中、a’は遠心脱水後の試料及びナイロン袋の総質量(g)、bはナイロン袋の吸水前(乾燥時)の質量(g)、cは試料の吸水前(乾燥時)の質量(g)を表す。
測定は5回行い(n=5)、上下各1点の値を削除し、残る3点の平均値を測定値とする。また、測定は23±2℃、湿度50±5%で行い、測定の前に試料を同環境で24時間以上保存した上で測定する。
本発明の表面処理用組成物は、(A)の吸水性ポリマーに加えて、(B)揮発性溶媒に溶解可能であり且つ疎水性被膜の形成能を有するポリマーを含んでいる。この(B)のポリマーは、(A)の吸水性ポリマー以外のポリマーである。「揮発性溶媒に溶解するポリマー」とは、本発明の表面処理用組成物の使用温度において、100gのエタノールと10gの(B)のポリマーとを混合して25℃で5分間撹拌したときに、エタノール中に残存する未溶解のポリマーの質量が1g以下である溶解性を有することである。また「疎水性被膜の形成能を有する」とは、(B)のポリマー1gをエタノール10gに溶解させた溶液0.5gをガラス上に滴下し、25℃で30分静置して被膜を形成する操作を行った場合に、疎水性を示す被膜を形成し得る性質のことである。形成された被膜が疎水性を有するか否かは、被膜上に純水0.1gを滴下し、横から観察した純水の水滴と被膜との接触角が90°より大きいことによって判断することができる。
特に、(B)のポリマーは、撥水性を持続させる観点から、水への溶解度が、25℃において70質量%以下であることが好ましく、60質量%以下であることが更に好ましく、30質量%以下であることが一層好ましく、10質量%以下であることがより一層好ましい。この溶解度はゼロであってもよい。
(B)のポリマーは、本発明の表面処理用組成物を被処理物における適用域に適用したときに、該適用域に(A)の吸水性ポリマーを固着する作用がある。この観点から、(B)のポリマーとしては、上述したとおり揮発性溶媒に溶解することに加えて、(A)の吸水性ポリマーを被処理物の表面に固着させ得る結着能を有していることが好ましい。そのような性質を有するポリマーとしては、高分子の技術分野において、いわゆるバインダと呼ばれる高分子化合物を用いることが好ましい。したがって、以下の説明においては(B)のポリマーのことを「バインダポリマー」とも言う。
(B)のバインダポリマーは、有機溶媒からなる揮発性溶媒に溶解可能であることが好ましいことに加えて、水への溶解性に関し、25℃において測定された水不溶性成分の割合が90質量%以下であることが好ましく、70質量%以下であることが更に好ましく、50質量%以下であることが更に好ましく、30質量%以下であることが一層好ましい。この水不溶性成分の割合はゼロであってもよい。
前記の水不溶性成分の割合は、次の方法で測定される。すなわち、(B)のポリマー10gを水100gに25℃で撹拌下20分間混合し、ろ紙(アドバンテック社製、No.5c、12cm)を用いてろ過した後、ろ紙上に残留した物質を40℃で恒量になるまで乾燥し、その乾燥質量a3(g)を測定し、a3/10×100を水不溶性成分の割合(%)とする。
(B)のバインダポリマーとしては、上述の揮発性溶媒に溶解可能であるものが好適に用いられる。そのようなポリマーとしては、例えばエチレン性不飽和単量体由来の共重合体が挙げられる。エチレン性不飽和単量体としては、例えばエチレン、プロピレン等のオレフィン、スチレン等の芳香族ビニル化合物、アクリル酸、メタクリル酸等のアクリル系化合物、塩化ビニル等のハロゲン系ビニル化合物などが挙げられる。エチレン性不飽和単量体として、アクリル酸、アクリル酸の塩、アクリル酸エステル、アクリル酸アミド、メタクリル酸、メタクリル酸の塩、メタクリル酸エステル及びメタクリル酸アミドからなる群から選択されるアクリル系化合物を用いることが、揮発性溶媒への溶解性の点から好ましい。(B)のポリマーは、これらのエチレン性不飽和単量体のうちの2種又はそれ以上の種類に由来する構造を有するものであることが好ましい。
(B)のバインダポリマーの別の例として、シリコーン共重合体が挙げられる。シリコーン共重合体は、シロキサン結合による主骨格を有する高分子化合物であって、共重合成分としてN-アシルアルキレンイミン、アクリル酸、アクリル酸の塩、アクリル酸エステル、アクリル酸アミド、メタクリル酸、メタクリル酸の塩、メタクリル酸エステル及びメタクリル酸アミドのうち少なくとも一種を分子鎖中に含む化合物である。シリコーン共重合体には、大別すると、架橋点が物理的な相互作用によって生じる物理架橋体、共有結合で結ばれた化学架橋体の2種が存在する。本発明においては物理架橋体を用いることが好適である。この理由は、物理架橋体は、化学架橋体に比べて揮発性溶媒に溶解しやすいからである。
物理架橋型のシリコーン共重合体としては、例えばポリ(N-アシルアルキレンイミン)変性シリコーン、糖変性シリコーン(特開昭63-139106号公報)、ポリグリセリン変性シリコーン(特開2004-339244号公報)、ポリアミノ酸変性シリコーン(特開2002-145724号公報)、シリコーングラフトアクリレートポリマー(特開平4-342513号公報)、シリコーンPEGブロックポリマー(特開平4-234307公報)などが例示される。これらのうち、ポリ(N-アシルアルキレンイミン)変性シリコーンを用いることが、揮発性溶媒への溶解性が高いことから好ましい。
上述のポリ(N-アシルアルキレンイミン)変性シリコーンとしては、例えば、分子内に式ポリ(N-アシルアルキレンイミン)のセグメントと、オルガノポリシロキサンのセグメントとを有し、オルガノポリシロキサンのセグメントの末端又は側鎖のケイ素原子の少なくとも1個にヘテロ原子を含むアルキレン基を介して、前記のポリ(N-アシルアルキレンイミン)のセグメントが結合してなるものが好ましい。前記のオルガノポリシロキサンのセグメントの末端又は側鎖のケイ素原子の少なくとも1個に存在するヘテロ原子を含むアルキレン基としては、窒素原子、酸素原子又はイオウ原子を1~3個含む炭素数2~20のアルキレン基が挙げられる。
好ましいポリ(N-アシルアルキレンイミン)変性シリコーンの具体的な例としては、ポリ(N-ホルミルエチレンイミン)変性シリコーン、ポリ(N-アセチルエチレンイミン)変性シリコーン、ポリ(N-プロピオニルエチレンイミン)変性シリコーン等が挙げられる。なかでも、式(2)で表される、重量平均分子量が約20,000~200,000で、分子中のポリ(N-プロピオニルエチレンイミン)セグメントの割合が約3~50質量%のポリ(N-プロピオニルエチレンイミン)変性シリコーン(INCI名:ポリシリコーン-9;エラストマーOS(花王株式会社の商品名))が好ましい。
(C)の揮発性溶媒とは、表面処理用組成物の使用温度において大気圧下で、飽和蒸気圧が3000Pa以上である物質をいう。揮発性溶媒としては、水や有機溶媒が挙げられるが、(A)の吸水性ポリマーによって吸収されないものを用いることが好ましい。この観点から、揮発性溶媒は有機溶媒であることが有利である。有機溶媒からなる揮発性溶媒の例としては、アルコール、エステル、ニトリル、エーテル、炭化水素、ケトンなどが挙げられる。これらの揮発性溶媒は1種を単独で用いることができ、あるいは2種以上を組み合わせて用いることもできる。2種以上の揮発性溶媒を組み合わせて用いる場合、前記の飽和蒸気圧とは、複数用いた揮発性溶媒のうち最も飽和蒸気圧が低い揮発性溶媒の飽和蒸気圧のことである。これらの揮発性溶媒のうち、ポリマーの溶解性と乾燥時間とを両立させる観点から、水、アルコール、エーテル、LPG(プロパン及びブタンの混合物)が好ましく、水、エタノール、ジメチルエーテル及びLPGからなる群から選ばれる1種又は2種以上の組み合わせを用いることが更に好ましい。
揮発性溶媒としてアルコールを用いる場合には、炭素数が1以上5以下である一価又は多価の脂肪族アルコールを用いることが好ましい。特に炭素数が1以上3以下である一価のアルコール、例えばメタノール、エタノール及びプロパノールなどを用いることが好ましい。揮発性溶媒としてエステルを用いる場合には、炭素数が1以上4以下である一価又は多価の脂肪族アルコールと、炭素数が1以上4以下である一価又は多価の脂肪酸とのエステルを用いることが好ましい。特に、炭素数が1以上2以下である一価の脂肪族アルコールと、炭素数が1以上3以下である一価の脂肪酸とのエステル、例えば酢酸エチル、プロピオン酸メチルなどを用いることが好ましい。揮発性溶媒としてニトリルを用いる場合には、炭素数が2以上3以下であるアルカンのニトリル、例えばアセトニトリルなどを用いることが好ましい。
揮発性溶媒として有機溶媒と水との混合溶媒を用いることもできる。揮発性溶媒が有機溶媒と水との混合溶媒である場合、有機溶媒と水との混合割合は、ポリマーの溶解性と乾燥時間とを両立させる観点から、水100質量部に対して、有機溶媒が好ましくは100質量部以上4000質量部以下であり、更に好ましくは有機溶媒800質量部以上2000質量部以下である。
本発明の表面処理用組成物は、上述の(A)の吸水性ポリマーを1質量%以上、特に2質量%以上、とりわけ3質量%以上含むことが、表面処理対象物を吸水性ポリマー組成物で処理した後の吸水性能を高める点から好ましい。また15質量%以下、特に10質量%以下、とりわけ5質量%以下含むことが、表面処理対象物への処理効率、噴霧した場合のノズルからの吐出性の点から好ましい。本発明の表面処理用組成物は、(A)の吸水性ポリマーを1質量%以上15質量%以下、特に2質量%以上10質量%以下、とりわけ3質量%以上5質量%以下含むことが好ましい。
本発明の表面処理用組成物は、上述の(B)のバインダポリマーを0.1質量%以上、特に0.2質量%以上、とりわけ0.3質量%以上含むことが、液の逆戻りを抑制する点から好ましい。また20質量%以下、特に10質量%以下、とりわけ1質量%以下含むことが、吸水阻害抑制の点から好ましい。本発明の表面処理用組成物は、(B)のバインダポリマーを0.1質量%以上20質量%以下、特に0.2質量%以上10質量%以下、とりわけ0.3質量%以上1質量%以下含むことが好ましい。
本発明の表面処理用組成物においては、上述の(A)の吸水性ポリマーと(B)のバインダポリマーとの比率が、〔(A)の吸水性ポリマーの質量/(B)のバインダポリマーの質量〕の値で表して、0.05以上、特に0.1以上、とりわけ2以上であることが、吸水性の観点から好ましい。また、〔(A)の吸水性ポリマーの質量/(B)のバインダポリマーの質量〕の値は、150以下、特に100以下、とりわけ25以下であることが、液の逆戻りを抑制する観点から好ましい。具体的には、〔(A)の吸水性ポリマーの質量/(B)のバインダポリマーの質量〕の値は、0.05以上150以下、特に0.1以上100以下、とりわけ2以上25以下であることが好ましい。
本発明の表面処理用組成物は、上述の(A)の吸水性ポリマー及び(B)のバインダポリマーに加えて、該バインダポリマーの溶解が可能な揮発性溶媒を含んでいてもよい。揮発性溶媒は、本発明の表面処理用組成物に含まれている(A)の吸水性ポリマー及び(B)のバインダポリマーの全量を溶解するに足る量で含まれていることが好ましい。一般的に言って、(A)の吸水性ポリマー及び(B)のバインダポリマーの合計100質量部に対して、400質量部以上、特に900質量部以上、とりわけ1900質量部以上の揮発性溶媒が含まれていることが好ましい。先に述べたとおり、揮発性溶媒は1種を単独で、又は2種以上を組み合わせて用いることができる。
本発明の表面処理用組成物は、例えば、該組成物を被処理物の表面に適用することによって適用部位に液の吸収保持性及び撥水性を付与することができる。一般的に言って液の吸収保持性と撥水性とは相反する性質であるが、本発明によればこれら相反する性質である液の吸収保持性と撥水性が同時に達成される。したがって、本発明の表面処理用組成物を例えば尿吸収剤として使用した場合、尿を吸収保持しつつ、一旦吸収された尿の逆戻りや滲み出しを効果的に防止することができる。同様に、本発明の表面処理用組成物を、汗吸収剤として使用した場合、汗を吸収保持しつつ、一旦吸収された汗の逆戻りや滲み出しを効果的に防止することができる。さらに、本発明の表面処理用組成物を、血液吸収剤として使用した場合、血液を吸収保持しつつ、一旦吸収された血液の逆戻りや滲み出しを効果的に防止することができる。いずれの使用目的であっても、本発明の表面処理用組成物を適用する被処理物として特に衣類を採用した場合、該衣類として、着用者の排泄部に直接当接する着用物品を適用の対象とし、該着用物品における着用者の排泄部に直接当接する部位に本発明の表面処理用組成物を施す工程を有する方法によって、該着用物品から吸水性物品を簡便に製造することができる。要するに、本発明の表面処理用組成物によって吸水性物品を構成するいずれかの部材の表面を処理する工程を有する方法によって吸水性物品を容易に製造することができる。このように本発明の表面処理用組成物は、様々な適用対象物に施されることで、該適用対象物に液の吸水性及び撥水性を付与する。もちろん、一般的な吸水性物品の吸収体に本発明の表面処理用組成物を含有させてもよい。一般的な吸水性物品には、例えば絆創膏、使い捨ておむつ、汗取りパッド、尿取りパッド、生理用ナプキン、パンティライナ、及びおりものシートなどが包含される。
上述の説明は、本発明の表面処理用組成物を、繊維材料の表面を処理するために用いることに関してのものであったが、本発明の表面処理用組成物の適用の対象となる被処理物は繊維材料に限られない。例えば被処理物として、スポンジや発泡体などの多孔質材料、金属、プラスチック及び鉱物などの硬質表面などが挙げられる。したがって本発明によれば、被処理物の表面に、表面処理用組成物を施す工程を有する被処理物の表面処理方法も提供される。また本発明によれば、被処理物の表面に、表面処理用組成物を施して、該表面の吸水性を向上させる工程を有する被処理物の表面の吸水性向上方法も提供される。
被処理物の具体的な形態としては、上述した吸水性物品のほかに、絨毯、フローリング、伸縮性の有無を問わないフィルム、伸縮性の有無を問わないシート、伸縮性の有無を問わないテープなどが挙げられる。
本発明の表面処理用組成物は、その適用対象物に様々な方法で施される。例えば本発明の表面処理用組成物を噴霧によって適用対象物に施すことができる。あるいは、本発明の表面処理用組成物中に適用対象物を浸漬することで、該組成物を該適用対象物に施すことができる。また、本発明の表面処理用組成物をダイコータやスロットコータ、グラビア印刷機等の印刷装置を用いた方法、噴霧装置等の各種塗布装置を用いて適用対象物に施すこともできる。どのような施用方法を採用するかは、本発明の表面処理用組成物の性状や、適用対象物の形状等に応じて適宜決定すればよい。本発明の表面処理用組成物が対象物に適用されると、該組成物から揮発性溶媒が揮発し、その結果、(B)のバインダポリマーから構成されている被膜が形成される。この被膜が(A)の吸水性ポリマーを対象物に安定的に保持させる。特に適用対象物が、吸水性物品の表面シート、各種布及び不織布製品、並びにスポンジ等の多孔質材料を初めとする網目状構造を有する部材である場合には、該部材における該網目状構造の少なくとも一部を膜状に被覆することになる。なお、本発明における網目状とは、物質が通過することのできる穴を有する構造のことである。
本発明の表面処理用組成物を適用する対象物の種類にかかわらず、該組成物を適用する量は、一般的に言って、液の吸収保持性及び液の逆戻り抑制の観点から、0.1g/m2以上であることが好ましく、0.5g/m2以上であることが更に好ましく、1g/m2以上であることが一層好ましい。また、処理の簡便性及び洗浄性の観点から、20g/m2以下であることが好ましく、10g/m2以下であることが更に好ましく、5g/m2以下であることが一層好ましい。具体的には、本発明の表面処理用組成物を対象物適用する量は、0.1g/m2以上20g/m2以下であることが好ましく、0.5g/m2以上10g/m2以下であることが更に好ましく、1g/m2以上5g/m2以下であることが一層好ましい。
噴霧によって本発明の表面処理用組成物を衣類や吸水性物品等の適用対象物に施す場合には、該組成物をスプレー容器内に収容し、該スプレー容器から該組成物を適用対象物に噴霧すればよい。この場合には、本発明の表面処理用組成物は、更に噴射剤を有することが好ましい。すなわち、噴射剤を含む本発明の表面処理用組成物と、該表面処理用組成物を収容するスプレー容器とを有する表面処理用品を用いればよい。噴射剤としては、従来スプレー容器に用いられるものを特に制限なく用いることができる。噴射剤としては、例えばLPG(プロパンとブタンの混合物)、ジメチルエーテル(DME)、炭酸ガス、窒素ガス、これらの混合物等が挙げられる。これらのうち、LPG(プロパンとブタンの混合物)、ジメチルエーテル(DME)が好ましい。また、HFC-152a等の代替フロンを使用することもできる。スプレー容器内に収容される噴射剤の量は、原液である(A)の吸水性ポリマーと(B)のポリマーとの合計量に対する噴射剤の割合が好ましくは40質量%以上80質量%以下、更に好ましくは45質量%以上75質量%以下、一層好ましくは50質量%以上70質量%以下となるような量とする。また、スプレー容器内の圧力が25℃で0.15~0.55MPaになるように噴射剤の種類や内容量や調整することが好ましい。
以上のとおり、本発明の表面処理用組成物は、これを、例えば着用者の排泄部に直接当接する着用物品、例えば下着を初めとする各種の衣類に適用することで、適用域に液の吸収保持性及び撥水性を付与できる。換言すれば、適用域を、吸水性物品の吸収体とすることができる。このように、本発明の表面処理用組成物は、衣類を簡易的に吸水性物品とすることができる。このようにして得られた吸水性物品は、着用者から排泄された液が、アウターウエア(例えばズボン、スラックス、パンツなど)へ滲み出すことを効果的に防止し、また液の逆戻りを効果的に防止するものとなる。
本発明の表面処理用組成物を、例えば使用者の肌に直接当接する衣類である下着に施す場合、下着の面のうち、外面側、すなわち使用者の肌から遠い面側、及び内面側、すなわち使用者の肌に近い面側のいずれか又は双方に該組成物を施すことができる。特に下着の面のうち、外面側、すなわち使用者の肌から遠い面側、本発明の表面処理用組成物を施すと、液戻り量、及び液の滲み出し量が一層低減することから好ましい。詳細には、下着の内面側に排泄された液は、下着を構成する布を透過して下着の外面側に到達するところ、該外面側には、本発明の表面処理用組成物に含まれる吸水性ポリマーが付着しているので、該液が該吸水性ポリマーに吸収されて液の逆戻りが起こりにくい。また、下着の外面側に到達した液は、本発明の表面処理用組成物に含まれるバインダポリマーによって形成された被膜によってそれ以上の移動が妨げられて、液の滲み出しが起こりにくい。
上述した実施態様に関し、本発明は更に以下の表面処理用組成物を開示する。

以下、実施例により本発明を更に詳細に説明する。しかしながら本発明の範囲は、かかる実施例に制限されない。実施例の説明に先立ち、合成例1を説明する。
合成例1:ポリ(N-アシルアルキレンイミン)変性シリコーン(バインダポリマー)の合成
硫酸ジエチル6.5部と2-エチル-2-オキサゾリン100.0部を、脱水した酢酸エチル200.0部に溶解し、窒素雰囲気下、5時間加熱還流し、末端反応性ポリ(N-プロピオニルエチレンイミン)を得た。ここに、側鎖1級アミノプロピル変性ポリジメチルシロキサン(分子量110,000;アミン当量(g/mol)4,840)100.0部の50%酢酸エチル溶液を一括して加え、10時間加熱還流した。反応混合物を減圧濃縮し、ポリ(N-プロピオニルエチレンイミン)ジメチルシロキサン共重合体(セグメント(A)/セグメント(B)=50/50)(以下、ポリ(N-アシルアルキレンイミン)変性シリコーンという)を淡黄色ゴム状固体として得た。このもののポリスチレン換算重量平均分子量は109,000であった(クロロホルムを展開溶媒としたゲル浸透クロマトグラフィーによる) 。また、溶媒としてメタノグラフィーによる)。また、溶媒としてメタノールを使用した塩酸による中和滴定の結果、アミノ基が残存していないことを確認した。このポリマーはエタノール/水=70/30(質量比)100gに10g以上溶解し、また水には不溶であった。
硫酸ジエチル6.5部と2-エチル-2-オキサゾリン100.0部を、脱水した酢酸エチル200.0部に溶解し、窒素雰囲気下、5時間加熱還流し、末端反応性ポリ(N-プロピオニルエチレンイミン)を得た。ここに、側鎖1級アミノプロピル変性ポリジメチルシロキサン(分子量110,000;アミン当量(g/mol)4,840)100.0部の50%酢酸エチル溶液を一括して加え、10時間加熱還流した。反応混合物を減圧濃縮し、ポリ(N-プロピオニルエチレンイミン)ジメチルシロキサン共重合体(セグメント(A)/セグメント(B)=50/50)(以下、ポリ(N-アシルアルキレンイミン)変性シリコーンという)を淡黄色ゴム状固体として得た。このもののポリスチレン換算重量平均分子量は109,000であった(クロロホルムを展開溶媒としたゲル浸透クロマトグラフィーによる) 。また、溶媒としてメタノグラフィーによる)。また、溶媒としてメタノールを使用した塩酸による中和滴定の結果、アミノ基が残存していないことを確認した。このポリマーはエタノール/水=70/30(質量比)100gに10g以上溶解し、また水には不溶であった。
〔実施例1〕
揮発性溶媒に溶解可能な吸水性ポリマーとして「アクアコークTWB」(商品名:住友精化株式会社製;エタノール/水:90/10への溶解度5g/100g以上)を用いた。バインダポリマーとして、合成例1で得た、ポリ(N-プロピオニルエチレンイミン)変性シリコーンを用いた。両者の割合は、吸水性ポリマー5質量部に対してバインダポリマー1質量部とした。溶媒としてエタノール/水混合溶媒(エタノール/水=90/10重量%)を用いた。溶媒の使用量は、吸水性ポリマー及びバインダポリマーの合計100質量部に対して943質量部とした。噴射剤としてDMEを用いた。噴射剤の使用量は、吸水性ポリマー及びバインダポリマーの合計100質量部に対して1554質量部とした。これらを混合して表面処理用組成物を調製し、これをスプレー容器に充填した。
揮発性溶媒に溶解可能な吸水性ポリマーとして「アクアコークTWB」(商品名:住友精化株式会社製;エタノール/水:90/10への溶解度5g/100g以上)を用いた。バインダポリマーとして、合成例1で得た、ポリ(N-プロピオニルエチレンイミン)変性シリコーンを用いた。両者の割合は、吸水性ポリマー5質量部に対してバインダポリマー1質量部とした。溶媒としてエタノール/水混合溶媒(エタノール/水=90/10重量%)を用いた。溶媒の使用量は、吸水性ポリマー及びバインダポリマーの合計100質量部に対して943質量部とした。噴射剤としてDMEを用いた。噴射剤の使用量は、吸水性ポリマー及びバインダポリマーの合計100質量部に対して1554質量部とした。これらを混合して表面処理用組成物を調製し、これをスプレー容器に充填した。
綿100%からなる市販のトランクスから10cm四方の試験片を採取し、これを鉛直方向に沿って固定した。試験片から20cm離れた位置からスプレー噴霧を行い、表面処理用組成物の一面に塗工した。塗工量は3.5g/m2とした。25℃・1atmの環境で一昼夜乾燥させて被膜を形成した。この被膜は、試験片の布における網目状構造の少なくとも一部を膜状に被覆していた。
〔比較例1ないし3〕
比較例1は、実施例1においてバインダポリマーを使用せずに被膜を形成した例である。比較例2は、実施例1において吸水性ポリマーを使用せずに被膜を形成した例である。比較例3は、被膜を形成せずに試験片そのものを、以下に述べる評価に供した例である。

〔評価〕
実施例1及び比較例1ないし3の試験片について、以下の方法で液の滲み出し率、液の吸水率、液戻り率、及び1滴吸水時間を測定した。これらの結果を表1に示す。

〔液の滲み出し率、液の吸水率及び液戻り率〕
水平な台の上にカナキンを載置し、その上に実施例及び比較例で得られた試験片を、該試験片における被膜が下になるよう配置した。この状態下に、試験片の上面へ向けて大塚製薬株式会社製の生理食塩水を青色に着色した液を0.5mL滴下した。滴下直後に、滴下した範囲を覆う面積より大きいアクリル板を置き、装着圧に相当する圧力である3g/cm2の圧力を30秒間にわたり加えた。アクリル板を取り外し、試験片の上にろ紙(アドバンテック社製、No.5c、12cm)を置き、更にその上にアクリル板を置き、装着圧に相当する圧力である3g/cm2の圧力を30秒間にわたり加えた。上側のろ紙は、使用者の肌を想定したものであり、試験片は下着を想定したものであり、カナキンはアウター(ズボン)を想定したものである。
次いでおもりを取り除き、カナキンの質量を測定し、質量の変化を求めた。この値を液の滲み出し量とする。また、生理食塩水の滴下の前後における試験片の質量を測定し、質量の変化を求めた。この値を液の吸水量とする。更に、ろ紙の質量を測定し、質量の変化を求めた。この値を液戻り量とする。液の滲み出し量、液の吸水量及び液戻り量の合計値に対する、液の滲み出し量、液の吸水量又は液戻り量の割合を、液の滲み出し率(%)、液の吸水率(%)、液戻り率(%)としてそれぞれ算出した。
水平な台の上にカナキンを載置し、その上に実施例及び比較例で得られた試験片を、該試験片における被膜が下になるよう配置した。この状態下に、試験片の上面へ向けて大塚製薬株式会社製の生理食塩水を青色に着色した液を0.5mL滴下した。滴下直後に、滴下した範囲を覆う面積より大きいアクリル板を置き、装着圧に相当する圧力である3g/cm2の圧力を30秒間にわたり加えた。アクリル板を取り外し、試験片の上にろ紙(アドバンテック社製、No.5c、12cm)を置き、更にその上にアクリル板を置き、装着圧に相当する圧力である3g/cm2の圧力を30秒間にわたり加えた。上側のろ紙は、使用者の肌を想定したものであり、試験片は下着を想定したものであり、カナキンはアウター(ズボン)を想定したものである。
次いでおもりを取り除き、カナキンの質量を測定し、質量の変化を求めた。この値を液の滲み出し量とする。また、生理食塩水の滴下の前後における試験片の質量を測定し、質量の変化を求めた。この値を液の吸水量とする。更に、ろ紙の質量を測定し、質量の変化を求めた。この値を液戻り量とする。液の滲み出し量、液の吸水量及び液戻り量の合計値に対する、液の滲み出し量、液の吸水量又は液戻り量の割合を、液の滲み出し率(%)、液の吸水率(%)、液戻り率(%)としてそれぞれ算出した。
〔1滴吸水時間〕
液の吸水量の測定と同様の方法で、水平な台の上にカナキンを載置し、その上に実施例及び比較例で得られた試験片を、該試験片における被膜が下になるよう配置した。この状態下に、試験片の上面へ向けて生理食塩水(大塚製薬株式会社製)を青色1号0.1%で着色した液を1滴(0.05g)滴下した。滴下直後から、サンプルの処理面の生食の反射光が見られなくなるまでの時間を測定する。測定は3回の平均値とし、この値を1滴吸水時間(秒)とした。
液の吸水量の測定と同様の方法で、水平な台の上にカナキンを載置し、その上に実施例及び比較例で得られた試験片を、該試験片における被膜が下になるよう配置した。この状態下に、試験片の上面へ向けて生理食塩水(大塚製薬株式会社製)を青色1号0.1%で着色した液を1滴(0.05g)滴下した。滴下直後から、サンプルの処理面の生食の反射光が見られなくなるまでの時間を測定する。測定は3回の平均値とし、この値を1滴吸水時間(秒)とした。
表1に示す結果から明らかなとおり、実施例で得られた被膜を施した試験片は、比較例に比べて液の吸水量が多く、且つ液戻り量及び液の滲み出し量が少なく、1滴吸水時間も長いことから、吸水性と撥水性を両立し、液の逆戻りを抑えて、処理対象物を防水していることが判る。したがって、実施例で得られた被膜を施した試験片は、吸水性物品として有用なものである。
Claims (13)
- (A)揮発性溶媒に溶解可能な吸水性ポリマー、及び(B)前記吸水性ポリマー以外のポリマーであって揮発性溶媒に溶解可能であり且つ疎水性被膜の形成能を有するポリマーを含む表面処理用組成物。
- (B)のポリマーが、エチレン性不飽和単量体由来の共重合体又はシリコーン共重合体である請求項1に記載の表面処理用組成物。
- 更に(C)揮発性溶媒を含む、請求項1又は2に記載の表面処理用組成物。
- 更に噴射剤を有する請求項1ないし3のいずれか一項に記載の表面処理用組成物。
- (A)の吸水性ポリマーと(B)のポリマーとの合計量に対する前記噴射剤の割合が40質量%以上80質量%以下である請求項4に記載の表面処理用組成物。
- (A)の吸水性ポリマーがポリウレタンからなる請求項1ないし5のいずれか一項に記載の表面処理用組成物。
- 繊維材料の表面を処理するために用いられる請求項1ないし6のいずれか一項に記載の表面処理用組成物。
- 吸水性物品の製造方法であって、
請求項1ないし7のいずれか一項に記載の表面処理用組成物によって前記吸水性物品を構成するいずれかの部材の表面を処理する工程を有する、吸水性物品の製造方法。 - 前記部材が繊維材料からなり、
前記繊維材料の表面を処理する請求項8に記載の吸水性物品の製造方法。 - 噴射剤を含む請求項1ないし3のいずれか一項に記載の表面処理用組成物と、該表面処理用組成物を収容するスプレー容器とを有する表面処理用品。
- (A)揮発性溶媒に溶解可能な吸水性ポリマー、及び(B)前記吸水性ポリマー以外のポリマーであって揮発性溶媒に溶解可能であり且つ疎水性被膜の形成能を有するポリマーを含む表面処理用組成物が、網目状構造を有する部材における該網目状構造の少なくとも一部を膜状に被覆している吸水性物品。
- 被処理物の表面に、請求項1ないし7のいずれか一項に記載の表面処理用組成物を施す工程を有する被処理物の表面処理方法。
- 被処理物の表面に、請求項1ないし7のいずれか一項に記載の表面処理用組成物を施して、該表面の吸水性を向上させる工程を有する被処理物の表面の吸水性向上方法。
