Definitions

  • the scope of invention is the field of humane necessities, specifically medical and veterinary science in general, i.e. the field of orthopaedic devices for conservative (non-surgical) treatment of bones or joints.

  • the invention can be classified as A61F 5/34 that specifically refers to the pressure pads filled with air or liquid, or as A 61F 5/37 defined as restraining devices for the body or for body parts.
  • the lower arms need to be banded around the thighs of a newborn infant in the desired position of abduction and mild flexion, wherein the upper arms should be folded over the shoulders of the newborn infant in the upper part. After bending, we cover the chest of the newborn infant with the cotton band in the upper part. In this case, there is a great danger of a "scissor" phenomenon - when the child tries to straighten the lower extremities, the upper ends are approaching like a scissors around the child's neck.

It is used with already advanced pathology and childhood age for more than four months, which is contraindicated because it causes osteochondritis (avascular decay of the femur head) compared to 73% of the total number of treated children (world statistics). Pavlik's belts are still in use, but they are also unacceptable to the newborn infant because of toughness. They are applied in children with evident pathology and of several months of age, which also reduces the therapeutic effect.

  • Dysplasia (a shallow hip joint's socket) can be detected in the first 72 hours after birth by the tests performed by the neonatal paediatrician and registered into the "Newborn Birth Sheet". These newborns are prioritized for early treatment. By preventing the development of dysplasia and ensuring the completing of the hip joint sockets' development, we help our newborn children to complete the development of the front-upper part of the socket that is not well-built to take the role of the support of the entire weight in an upright position and during walking. Abstract
