Description

Title: "Hood for the suction of cooking fumes"
DESCRIPTION
Technical field
The present invention relates to a hood for the suction of cooking fumes.
In particular, the present invention relates to a vertical hood, that is to say, a hood wherein the suction opening is placed on a non-horizontal plane. Such hoods are usefully employed in kitchens of private homes, restaurants, dining halls or in any environment in which it is necessary to cook food and evacuate cooking fumes.
Prior art
The vertical hoods are known in the prior art. Such hoods comprise a box-shaped body in which a suction is housed. The box-shaped body has one or more non-horizontal openings, that is to say, arranged substantially along a vertical direction. In the majority of cases, the openings are arranged along an oblique direction, that is to say, they are inclined both with respect to a vertical direction and with respect to a horizontal direction.
A suction motor assembly is housed in the box-shaped body and, through a duct, is placed in fluid communication with the opening. Such an assembly is also placed in fluid communication with a cooking fumes extraction pipe, in such a way to introduce the fumes in such an extraction pipe to extract them from the room.
Disadvantageously, noise is noted in the known hoods, mainly attributable to the transit of air through the grills and the filters placed to shield the fan of the suction motor assembly. Vibrating, such elements dissipate energy through acoustic waves that, entering in resonance with the ducts and metal parts of the hood are then transmitted to the exterior.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
In this context, the technical task at the basis of the present invention is to propose a hood for the suction of cooking fumes that overcomes the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art.
In particular, it is the object of the present invention to provide a hood for the suction of cooking fumes having a reduced noisiness.
The above technical task and specified aim are substantially achieved with a hood for the suction of cooking fumes comprising the technical features expressed in one or more of the appended claims.
Advantages
The hood according to the invention resolves the technical problem in that the resonance cavities, suitably calibrated, allow for the creation of acoustic waves that, covering the noise produced by the grill panel, cancel it at least at the side walls, preventing it from propagating off the side walls towards the exterior. Since such a side wall produces the majority of acoustic emissions out of all the surfaces of the box-shaped body, it is possible to reduce the noise produced by the hood and transmitted to the exterior.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Although not explicitly mentioned, the single features described with reference to the specific embodiments shall be considered as ancillary and/or interchangeable with other features, which are described with reference to other exemplary embodiments.
With reference to the accompanying figures, reference numeral 1 indicates a hood for the suction of cooking fumes according to the present invention.
The hood 1 comprises a box-shaped body 2. As shown for example in figure 2, the box-shaped body 2 defines the lower section of the hood 1 and, in use, it is therefore facing the stove.
In more detail, the box-shaped body 2 has at least one wall 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, 2e in contact with the external environment. In particular, the box-shaped body has a lower wall 2a, an upper wall 2b, a pair of side walls 2c, a front wall 2d and a back wall 2e. The lower wall 2a directly faces the stove and, in use, it is arranged substantially horizontally, that is to say substantially perpendicular to one vertical direction "A". The upper wall 2b is arranged substantially parallel to the lower wall 2a, therefore it also is substantially perpendicular to the vertical direction "A". The back wall 2e is connected to the upper 2b and lower 2a walls, in particular it is arranged transversely and in particular perpendicularly to them. In use, the back wall 2e faces or is placed in contact with a wall. The front wall 2d is connected to the upper 2a and lower walls. The front wall 2d is also substantially inclined with respect to the vertical direction "A". It is noted that, in particular due to the inclination of the front wall 2d, the upper wall 2b generally has a larger surface with respect to the lower wall 2a.
The side walls 2c are arranged parallel to each other and are connected to the upper 2b, lower 2a, and back 2e walls. It is noted that, according to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the side walls 2c have a trapezoidal shape.
The box-shaped body 2 defines at least one duct 3 for the suction of cooking fumes. Such a duct 3 has at least one opening 4 facing an external environment and, in particular, arranged on an inclined plane with respect to the vertical direction "A". As shown for example in figure 1, the opening 4 is arranged preferably along an oblique direction, therefore also inclined with respect to a horizontal direction. In detail, the opening 4 is inclined at an angle of between 15° and 30°, preferably exactly at 21°, with respect to the vertical direction "A".
With particular reference to figure 1, it is noted that the box-shaped body 2 defines a pair of ducts 3, each having its own suction opening 4. The already mentioned front wall 2d, partially covering the frontal zone of the box-shaped body 2, is placed between the openings 4. Even more particularly, the openings 4 are arranged symmetrically with respect to the front wall 2d.
The hood 1 also comprises an evacuation flue 6, placed centrally and above the box-shaped body 2. In particular, the flue 6 is placed in fluid communication with the ducts 3.
The hood 1 also comprises suction means 5. Such suction means 5 are placed in fluid communication with the ducts 3 and the flue 6. The suction means 5 are configured to suction the cooking fumes from the ducts 3 and expel them through the flue 6. The suction means 5 are per se known to the man skilled in the art, and will therefore not be described in detail. Indicatively, the suction means 5 can comprise a suction motor assembly with a suction centrifuge.
It is noted the suction means 5 are housed in a compartment 7 formed within the box-shaped body 2. In particular, such a compartment 7 is placed behind the front wall 2d, and is arranged between the above-mentioned ducts 3. The hood 1 also comprises at least one grill panel 8 facing the suction means. The grill panel 8 is in particular placed between the duct 3 and the suction means 5. The panel 5 has the purpose of closing the compartment 7 of the suction means 5 leaving the cooking fumes to pass through and allowing a first filtration of the same cooking fumes. Such filtration occurs by favouring the condensation of the suspended fat and oil present in the fumes, in addition to the steam.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the grill panel 8 is arranged parallel to the side wall 2c. In other words, the grill panel 8 is arranged parallel to the vertical direction "A". In an alternative embodiment, not shown, the grill panel 8 is inclined with respect to said vertical direction "A". Similar to the side walls 2c, the grill panel 8 has a trapezoidal shape.
It is noted that the hood 1 comprises, in the preferred embodiment, at least two grill panels 8, each one placed to close a respective duct 3. The structure of each grill panel 8 is per se known to the man skilled in the art, and will therefore not be described in detail.
Some filters (not shown) are positioned inside the compartment 7, downstream of each grill panel 8. Advantageously the grill panels 8 are removable for cleaning, in addition to allow for the substitution of the filters and the cleaning of the compartment 7.
The hood 1 also comprises at least one perforated panel 9, inserted in the duct 3 and opposite of the grill panel 8. The perforated panel 9 is also arranged between the side wall 2c and the grill panel 8. The perforated panel 9 faces the side wall 2c, in such a way to define a plurality of acoustic resonance cavities 10 in cooperation with the side wall 2c itself. In detail, the perforated panel 9 has a plurality of holes 11 distributed substantially uniformly across the perforated panel 9.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the perforated panel 9 is arranged parallel to the side wall 2c. In other words, the perforated panel 9 is arranged parallel to the vertical direction "A". In an alternative embodiment, not shown, the perforated panel 9 is inclined with respect to said vertical direction "A".
As shown in Figure 4, the hood 1 comprises two perforated panels 9, each one inserted within a respective duct 3 and facing a respective side wall 2c.
In detail, the operating mechanism of the cavities 10 defined by the perforated panel 9 is based on the Helmholtz resonance. Consequently, by suitably selecting the dimensions of the holes 11, their spacing on the perforated panel 9 and the distance of each perforated panel 9 from the respective side wall 2c, it is possible to define a resonance frequency of the cavities 10, making the perforated panel 9 capable of diminishing the acoustic vibrations produced by the movement of the cooking fumes in the ducts 3 and, in particular, by the passage of the grill panels 8.
The hood 1 comprises at least a sound-absorbing panel 12 arranged between the perforated panel 9 and the side wall 2c of the box-shaped body. In particular, the sound- absorbing panel 12 uniformly covers all of the internal surface of the side wall 2c. Advantageously, the sound-absorbing panel 12 contributes to the sound absorbing both directly, that is to say diminishing a large spectrum of frequencies, and by amplifying the spectrum of frequencies of the cavities 10.
The hood 1 also comprises at least one support frame 13. Such a frame 13 is inserted in the duct 3, and is removable from said duct 3. The grill panel 8 is able to be fixed to the frame 13 to allow for extraction from the duct 3 together with the frame 13. Similarly, the perforated panel 9 can be fixed to the frame 13 in a position opposite with respect to the grill panel 8.
The frame 13 comprises an upper wall 13a, a back wall 13b and a lower wall 13c. When the frame 13 is inserted in the duct 3, the upper wall 13a is facing the upper wall 2b of the box-shaped body 2. The back wall 13b faces the back wall 2e of the box-shaped body 2. The lower wall 13c faces the lower wall 2° of the box-shaped body 2.
As shown for example in Figure 4, the hood 1 comprises a pair of frames 13 each one inserted in a respective duct 3. In further detail, each frame 13 has a window 14 that defines a respective opening 4. The window 14 is opposite to the back wall 13 b.
The hood 1 comprises at least one removable drawer 15 to collect a condensate of cooking fumes. Said drawer 15 is placed under the frame 3 and, optionally, under the compartment 7 of the suction means 5. Preferably, the drawer 15 is placed under one or both grill panels 8.
Each grill panel 8 is provided with channels (not shown) to direct the condensate and the collected fat inside the drawer 15. Preferably, the hood 1 comprises two drawersl5, each one placed under a respective grill panel 8.
With particular reference to Figure 1, it is noted that the hood 1 comprises a cover panel 16 for the opening 4. Said cover panel 16 is in particular hinged to the upper edge 2f of the box-shaped body 2. The cover panel 16 is convertible between a first configuration, in which it covers the opening 4 and a second configuration, in which it completely uncovers the opening 4. When the hood is in use, the cover panel 16 is in the first configuration, therefore it is arranged parallel to the opening 4 and distanced from it, in order to allow for the entrance of air into the opening 4. In maintenance conditions, the cover panel 16 is rotated into the second configuration, that is to say in a position substantially horizontal and raised with respect to the box-shaped body 2, in order to allow for the removal of the frames 13 from said box-shaped body. According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the hood 1 comprises a single cover panel 16 capable of covering both openings 4.
Clearly, a man skilled in the art, in order to meet contingent and specific requirements, may make numerous modifications and variants to the configurations described above. Such variations and modifications are all within the scope of protection of the invention which is defined by the following claims.

Claims

1. Hood (1) for the suction of cooking fumes comprising a box-shaped body (2) exhibiting a lower wall (2a), an upper wall (2b), a pair of side walls (2c) and a front wall (2d); said lower wall (2a) directly facing a stove and being substantially perpendicular to a vertical direction (A); said front wall (2d) partially covering a frontal zone of the box- shaped body (2); said box-shaped body (2) defining a pair of ducts (3) for the suction of said cooking fumes, each duct (3) having a respective one opening (4) facing an external environment and arranged on an inclined plane at an angle between 15° and 30° with respect to said vertical direction (A), said front wall (2d) placed between said openings (4); said box-shaped body (2) having a compartment (7) placed behind the front wall (2d) and arranged between the ducts (3); suction means (5) inserted in said compartment (7) and placed in fluid communication with said duct (3), characterised in that it comprises two grill panels (8) each arranged at the closing of a respective duct (3) and facing said suction means (5); two perforated panels (9) each opposite a respective grill panel (8) and facing a respective side wall (2c) to define a plurality of acoustic resonance cavities (10) in cooperation with said side wall (2c).
2. Hood (1) according to claim 1, comprising at least one sound-absorbing panel (12) arranged between said perforated panel (9) and said side wall (2c).
3. Hood (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, comprising a support frame (13) inserted in said duct (3), said frame (13) being able to be extracted from said duct (3), said grid panel (8) being able to be fixed to said frame (13).
4. Hood (1) according to claim 3, wherein said perforated panel (9) can be fixed to said frame (13).
5. Hood (1) according to claim 3 or 4, comprising a pair of ducts (3), said suction means (5) being placed between said ducts (5) and being placed in fluid communication with both said ducts (5) to suck said cooking fumes from said ducts (5).
6. Hood (1) according to claim 5, comprising a frame (13) for each duct (3).
7. Hood (1) according to any one of the claims from 3 to 6, comprising a cover panel (16) for said opening (4) hinged to an upper edge (2f) of said box-shaped body (2) and being able to be switched from a first configuration in which it covers said opening (4) and a second configuration in which it uncovers said opening (4) and is placed substantially horizontally to allow the extraction of said frame (13) from said box-shaped body (2).
8. 8 Hood (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, comprising a removable drawer (15) placed under said frame (13) to collect a condensate of said cooking fumes.
9. Hood (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said grid panel (8) has a trapezoidal shape.
