Abstract

The present invention provides a C-hook comprising a "C" section at one end of which is a prolonged protrude ending at a means to hold counter weight balance, the said prolonged protrude attached with a lifting pin having a lifting ring over the said lifting pin, at the other end of the said C section a coil stopper, a probe attached to the coil stopper for lifting the coil roll. Using this c-hook provides several advantages including ease to place the rolled metal coils in eye to door position.

Description

Title:
C - Hook for loading of coils in container in eye to the door position. Field of Invention:
The present invention related to C - Hook for loading of coils in container in eye to the door position. More particularly it relates to heavy coil handling and loading/unloading coils in containers placed on trailers in a particular position called as eye to door which is now mandatory for loading the containers in the carriers such as ships or air transportation.
Background of Invention:
The steel industry faces difficulty in loading the coils inside the container because of the truck being in motion, which makes the loading very risky. Similarly as per mandatory requirements The C-hook is designed in such a way that the loading of coil inside the container can be done keeping the vehicle stationary and hence reducing the risk factor to zero.
Conventionally, the steel coil rolls are loaded in the vehicles or in the containers using huge cranes. The coils are lifted by the cranes using chains of appropriate strength. These chains are applied to these coil rolls using various means and then lifted by the cranes to place them on the carriages or in containers. Lots of maneuvering is required as to moving the vehicles or the containers so as to place these heavy coils in proper and appropriate place. To place them in eye to door condition as mandated by the international rules is still more difficult. The inventors of the present invention have come up with a solution to this problem by providing a c-hook type lifting arrangement. This c-hook means easily lifts the heavy coils and place them in the eye to door position.
C-Hook is a material handling device made to handle coils up to a maximum weight of 28 MT using an over-head crane. This can be used to relocate the coils as well as placing the coils inside the container for transportation purpose. The C Hook provided by the present invention is first of its kind in the world to load/unload heavy coils in containers directly on the trailer, with the trailer in stationery condition.
The main object of the present invention is to provide c-hook means for easy lifting and placing the steel coil rolls in eye to door position.
Summary of the invention
The present invention provides a C - Hook for loading of coils in container in eye to the door position. The said c hook has a shape at one end and a means to load counter balancing weight at the other end. It also has a lifting ring for attaching the chains from the cranes.
Brief description of the drawings:
Fig. (1 ) gives schematic representation of the C -hook of the present invention.

The drawing accompanying this specification described the invention. The drawing is illustrative only and should not be construed to limit the scope of the present invention in any manner.
Detailed description of the drawings:
Referring to Fig. (1 ) the C-hook of the present invention comprises a C section (3) one end of which is a prolonged protrude ending at a means (1 ) to hold counter weight balance, the said prolonged protrude attached with a lifting pin (5) having a lifting ring (2) over the said lifting pin (5), at the other end of the said C section (3) a coil stopper (6), a probe (4) attached to the coil stopper (6) for lifting the coil roll.
Working of the invention:
Following procedure described the method for using the C-Hook of the present invention to place the coil roll in the container or carrier.
Step 1 : The C-hook is lifted from the stand using the overhead crane, by attaching the crane hook to the lifting ring of the C-hook
Step 2: The coil is lifted by inserting the probe of the C-hook into the bore of the coil Step 3: The trailer along with the container is placed at the loading area within the reach of the overhead crane so that the crane can approach the container with along with the C-hook attached and coil being in lifted position
Step 4: The coil is placed inside the container onto the poly bed with the help of guidance of once person
Step 5: The C-hook is retracted back leaving the coil inside the container
Step 6: Step 2 to 5 is repeated till all the required number of coils are placed inside the container
Step 7: Once the loading of the containers is completed, place the C-hook back on the stand and remove the overhead crane hook from the lifting ring
Advantages of the present invention:
1 . The coil placement is done in eye to the wall, whereas the C-hook places the coil in the eye to the door position.
2. Due to the placement of coil in eye to wall direction, the coil weight is concentrated at the bottom and not shared evenly across the length of the container.
3. The international standard is to place the coil in eye to the door position for better distribution of the weight across the length of the container
4. For placing the coil, the truck has to move to and fro, making the operation difficult and risky.
5. Poor visibility of the location of the coil inside the container while placement, whereas the C-hook enables a clear view of the position of the coil inside the container while placement In existing system, additional operation is required while lifting the coil as the operator needs to operate a switch for movement of the locks to go inside the coil bore. Same lock has to be unlocked once the coil is placed inside the container. In case of delay in operating the lock to release after placement of coil inside the container, there may be a chance of coil being lifted off partially and bang the container floor. There is no such type of lock in the C-hook making the operation easy. Using the existing method of loading restrict the width of the coil up to the width of the front probe, but with the C-hook, we can lift coil of any width up to 1500 mm The C-hook is balanced in such a way that the counter weight balance need not to be changed for the entire range of coil weight up to 27 MT
