Abstract

The joint for the repeated joining of surfaces of plywood products represents a disassemblable, secure joint of two surfaces. It is distributed onto the joining surfaces without the use of binding agents (adhesives) or other materials. The joint is made of the same material and forms part of the joining surfaces. Joining and dismantling the joint does not require tools. The elastic part, hooked tenons (1) and tenons (2), is on one surface, and the mortise (4) is on the other surface. The elastic and mechanical properties of the joint a re determined by the applied material.

Description

JOINT FOR REPEATED JOINING OF ELEMENTS OF PLYWOOD PRODUCTS
INVENTION DESCRIPTION
Areas to which the invention applies
Industry. Joining technique
Joint for repeated joining of elements of plywood products intended for the repeated joining and dismantling of a product's elements.
International Patent Classification (IPC) for this product is not known to the applicant. Technical issue
For products made of plywood (e.g. packaging, toys, etc.) used in the industrial sector, private households, and the service industry, there arises a particular issue of the product's ability for one-time or repeated disassembly for storage or transport. Using the joint for the repeated joining and dismantling of product elements enables the following: possibility to disassemble a product, integrity of design ideas, using one material for production of the entire product, improving environmental protection and occupational safety, and application not generating additional waste in the process of joining and dismantling. Using the joint on products which are not usually or repeatedly dismantled (such as boxes or crates) reduces the space required for storage and/or transport.
Using the joint for the repeated joining of product elements accelerates the manufacturing process, saves space and cuts costs in the complete procedure of using a product or a service or its intended function.
Using the joint for the repeated joining of product elements solves the problem of joining a product's elements without the use of bonding material (adhesive) or additional joining materials (nails, sheet metals, etc.) or tools.
State of the art
The research on the state of the art was conducted over the internet, and the
review/comparison basis consisted of the following names and terms (in Croatian and English): KOPCA ZA VISEKRATNO SPAJANJE I RASTAVUANJE, DRVENA KOPCA, DRVENI SPOJ, SPOJ LASTIN REP, SPAJANJE DRVENIH PLOHA, DRVENA KVACICA, DRVENI OSIGURAC, DRVENI OSIGURAC and
WOODEN JOINT, WOODEN CLIP, JOINING WOODEN PARTS, WOODEN PIN, WOODEN SAFETY PIN, WOODEN TENONS, WOODEN SAFETY TENON
The specified terms are indications of technical solutions for the joining elements of a disassemblable product, made of wood, metal, or plastic, where the different forms of joining elements are used with adhesive, metal parts joined with nails or screws, which prevents disassembly of the product or makes it difficult to disassemble, implying a great risk of damage inflicted on the joint.
An online search of the above-mentioned joint names did not yield a result comparable to the proposed solution. Most results of the couplings found are different from the patent proposal, as they are made using profiled grooves without elastic forces by inserting parts into each other (e.g. dovetail joint), where the stability and firmness of the joint are particularly affected by the quality of the material used, which makes the product difficult to dismantle.
Presentation of the invention's key purpose
The primary objective of this invention is to ensure stable, secure and disassemblable joining between structural elements or elements of plywood products.
The secondary objective is to enable the production of product elements using a unique technology without any further actions, testing or tools in the manufacturing process.
An additional objective of the invention of the joint for the repeated joining of elements is enabling easier handling, without requiring additional training of workers/persons and easier recycling of products, with the aim of protecting the environment.
Using the joint for the repeated joining of elements facilitates the design of dismantlable products made of plywood.
The physical characteristics and dimensions of the coupled parts of the wooden joint for the repeated joining of elements allow for adaptation to the properties of the used type and/or use of wood without loss of the joint's properties.
Short list of figures

Detailed description of at least one manner of realizing the invention
How the invention is applied
The invention is intended for the repeated vertical joining and dismantling of elements of disassemblable surfaces (sides) made of plywood using a joint for the repeated joining of elements, which forms part of the surfaces, which join together. Joining and dismantling are performed by clamping the joint without using additional tools. Manufacturing the joint is part of the same technological process used to manufacture the surfaces.
The application of this manner of connecting the surfaces of plywood structures enables a cheaper and faster process of joining and dismantling disassemblable products and large and economically justified savings in storage and transport. The right choice of wood (plywood) achieves durable solutions for disassemblable products made of plywood and a high level of flexibility in integrated product design solutions. The invention brings savings in recycling and in environmental protection both to the manufacturer and the owner, especially if eco- plywood is used.
Detailed description of at least one manner of realizing the invention
Details of this assumed realization of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying figures.
Referring to Figures 1, 2, and 3, it can be seen that the wooden joint consists of hooked tenon 1 and tenon 2, which are located on a flat surface A (Figure 1) and mortise 4, for receiving the tenon, located on flat surface B (Figure 2). The joint is closed by inserting tenons 1 and 2 into mortise 4. The surfaces are joined together at an angle of 90°.
Dimension 5 corresponds to the thickness of the material used for surface B, which contains mortise 4.
The purpose of slots 3 is to allow for hooked tenons 1 and tenons 2 to be clamped to a size which enables the reception of tenons 1 and 2 into mortise 4. In mortise 4, after unclamping tenons 1 and 2, the mortise is fully closed due to the elasticity of the material used, and the hooks on tenons 1 go past the edge of mortise 4, thus closing the joint.
The depth and width of slots 3 are determined and adapted during manufacturing, according to the strength and elasticity of the wood used (plywood).
