Abstract
The present invention relates to a portable audio device comprising: a main body; an earbud connected to the main body and mounted to a user's ear; a microphone for collecting external sounds; a sensing unit for collecting status information of the portable audio device; and a control unit for controlling the earbud so as to provide sounds according to sound data, wherein, when status information collected by the sensing unit satisfies a predetermined reference, the control unit activates an external sound awareness (ESA) function that is a function of providing external sounds collected by the microphone through the earbud. The portable audio device can prevent a user who does not hear external sounds from having an accident even when the user is using the portable audio device.
