Abstract

Device for retaining the lanyard of a handgun composed of a retaining case that is attached to an item of clothing of the bearer of the gun, the case allowing the lanyard (10) linking the gun to the bearer of the gun to enter therein so that the lanyard does not catch on surrounding objects when the bearer of the gun moves. According to the main feature of the invention, the case is a rigid or semi-rigid housing (12) comprising at least one cover (22 or 28, 30), the partial opening of which is caused by the continuous and gradual exit of the lanyard under tension due to the fact that it is retained in the housing when the bearer draws his or her gun and raises his or her arm to a firing position.

Description

Domaine technique Technical area
The present invention relates to devices for connecting a handgun to the wearer of the weapon and in particular to a strap retaining device of a handgun.
Etat de la technique State of the art
The user of a sidearm such as a pistol or a revolver, whether police, military, security guard or sport shooter is required to store his weapon, for transportation in a suitable case to avoid keeping it in your hand all the time. Unfortunately, during the carrier's movements, the weapon may fall to the ground following an incident such as a stampede, injury or clumsiness. This risk can result in the loss of the weapon, and, worse, the recovery of the weapon by a malicious person.
To mitigate the above risk, the weapon is connected on one side to the belt of the holder of the weapon by a strap attached to a loop in which the belt passes, and the other to the butt of the weapon which is usually above the buttock of the user's right hand, such as the right hand for a right-handed person, a ring or a metal clip.
The first wrist straps were made of leather or textile that had to be folded or twisted in a more or less complicated way. Indeed, this link must be long enough to pull at arm's length (about 110 cm) and this, regardless of the morphology of the shooter, and be short enough (about 25 cm) for the transport position to not make a big loop between the belt and the weapon and drag or hang on projecting objects or furniture.
The drawback described above has thus been remedied by using a type of strap described in US Pat. No. 2003/0213823 and illustrated in FIG. 1. It is a spiral strap made of a flexible material 10 which, when is relaxed, measures about 25 cm and about 110 cm when stretched as it is in Figure 1. It does not need to be folded or twisted after use of the weapon because it is his elasticity that allows it to go from a short length when the weapon is put back in its holster to a long length when the weapon is used and that the user has the arm extended in the firing position.
However, the daily use of this type of wrist strap has several disadvantages. On the one hand, the strap connecting the belt to the butt of the weapon and measuring by necessity about 25 centimeters minimum, it yawns enough to cling to surrounding objects such as furniture that can be protruding and lying in the path where the user moves. The latter can accidentally hang his wrist strap in a door handle, a motorcycle handlebars, a car rearview mirror and continue its progression until the strap is stretched to its maximum and thus fall the object or even fall on the ground.
On the other hand, in the case where the user must quickly use his weapon to respond to an immediate threat, the balloon of the strap is such that, when he grasps his weapon, he also grasps a length of the strap which will have the effect of badly fitting his weapon and being in an ineffective and uncomfortable shooting position.
Exposé de l'invention In addition, the free flip of the free strap that hits against the accessories of the belt is noisy. Presentation of the invention
Therefore, the main object of the invention is to provide a handgrip of a handgun preventing the weapon from clinging to surrounding objects during the movement of the carrier of the weapon.
Another object of the invention is to provide a strap holder of a handgun allowing the strap to remain stretched when the wearer of the weapon goes into shooting position.
The main object of the invention is therefore a strap retaining device of a handgun composed of a retaining case attached to a garment of the wearer of the weapon, preferably the belt, this holster allowing the wrist strap connecting the weapon to the holder of the weapon, so that the wrist strap does not catch the surrounding objects during the movement of the weapon holder. The case is a rigid or semi-rigid case comprising at least one cover, the partial opening of which is caused by the exit of said strap in a continuous and progressive manner and under tension because it is retained in the case when the wearer take out his weapon and extend his arm to put himself in the shooting position.

Description détaillée de l'invention Detailed description of the invention
Referring to Figures 2 and 3, the retaining device according to the invention is a retaining case which, in the preferred embodiment, is a kind of housing 12 which is positioned on the belt 14 by intercalating. between the loop 16 of the strap attached to the belt and the holster 20 of the weapon 18, and in which is inserted the strap. The housing 12 holds most of the strap 10. Thus, the length of the strap portion between the case 20 of the weapon 18 and the housing 12, is reduced to a minimum.
When the user seizes his weapon to put himself in the shooting position, the strap 10 out of the box while remaining tense for the time necessary for the wearer to be in the shooting position. Thus, FIG. 3 shows the user having removed his weapon 18 from the case 20 to put himself in the firing position and having the elbow still in the lower position so that the arm is not yet stretched. We. see that the strap portion 10 out of the housing 12 remains stretched, which would not be the case with the system shown in Figure 1.
One embodiment of the housing 12 forming the main element of the device according to the invention is illustrated in Figure 4. The housing 12 mainly comprises a cover 22, preferably rigid although it can be semi-rigid. The cover 22 is fixed on the belt 14 by a hinge 24 (not shown) which holds it against the belt 14 with a weak force allowing the strap to easily exit outside the housing while remaining tensioned. Note that the cover 22 can be fixed on the belt without hinge, the hinge effect being produced by equivalent means such as the rigidity of the lid combined with its elasticity.
When the user exits his weapon, the turns of the strap easily out of the housing 12 continuously, causing the opening of the cover 22 in the direction of the arrow 26, which allows the strap that has already left to stay tense.
After the user has used his weapon, he enters it in his case 20 and enters the strap in the housing 12 under the cover 22. This can be achieved in several ways such as for example by folding the wristband into two parts as is the case illustrated in Figure 2.
A second embodiment of the device according to the invention is illustrated in FIG. 5. Here, the housing 12 comprises two side-by-side covers 28 and 30, identical or not, fixed to the belt by hinges (not shown) or means equivalents which, as in the embodiment of Figure 4, exert a low holding force allowing easy gradual release of the strap. When the weapon is out of its case by the user, the turns of the strap out of the case 12 through the opening er.tro ".'Re two smoldering c_.es 28 and 3.0 .. _ caused by the rotation of the covers 28 and 30 in the direction of the arrows : 32 and 34.
It goes without saying that the retaining case of the strap could be any other means allowing the exit of the strap with a low holding force, for example a tubular sheath.
FIG. 6 illustrates an embodiment in which the retaining case 12 is integral with a passer 36 which surrounds the belt. The passer 36 has a movable portion 38 which allows to adapt it to belts of different widths.
Although, in the embodiments described above, the strap retaining case is attached to the belt, it is obvious that it could be attached to another part of the weapon wearer's garment.
A. note that the restraint that is the subject of the invention could be used to hold a strap connected to an object different from a weapon such as a tool or anything else. In addition, the strap may not be in spiral form but in extensible material, for example elastic.
