Description

生体電極、生体電極の製造方法、生体から電気信号を収集する方法
 本発明は、脳波測定用電極、心電図測定用電極などの生体電極、当該生体電極の製造方法、および上記生体電極を用いて生体から電気信号を収集する方法に関する。
 脳波測定用電極など毛が生えた皮膚に対して有効な生体電極は、皮膚(脳波測定用電極の場合には頭皮)から生えた毛(脳波測定用電極の場合には毛髪)を適切に避けつつ皮膚に接触することが必要であり、その際、皮膚の負担を抑えることも要請される。さらに、複数回の使用が可能であることも求められるようになってきている。
 このような課題に応える脳波測定用電極として、特許文献1には、基底部と、前記基底部から突出して設けられた、ゴムからなる突出部と、前記突出部の先端に設けられ、前記脳波測定用電極の外部と電気的に接続され、前記脳波の測定時に頭皮に接触する、金属からなる接触部と、を備える脳波測定用電極が記載されている。

 しかしながら、特許文献1に開示される脳波測定用電極では、接触部は金属塊あるいは複数の金属粒子の集合体からなり、こうした部材からなる接触部では、頭皮への負担を抑えつつ皮膚に接触することが困難となる場合があった。
 本発明は、毛が生えた皮膚に対して適用され繰り返し使用が可能な生体電極であって、皮膚への負担を抑えつつ皮膚に適切に接触することが可能な生体電極を提供することを目的とする。本発明は、当該生体電極の製造方法および上記の生体電極を用いた生体から電気信号を収集する方法を提供することも目的とする。
 上記課題を解決するため、本発明は、一態様として、複数の導電線の束を備える導電束体と、前記導電束体の周囲に位置して前記導電束体を保持する保持体と、前記導電束体と電気的に接触した端子とを備える生体電極であって、前記導電束体の一方の端部である生体接触端部は、少なくとも表面が生体適合性を有する導電性材料からなり、前記生体接触端部は前記保持体から突出して生体に接触可能であって、前記保持体は弾性部を有し、前記生体接触端部に加えられた外力に応じて、前記導電束体の少なくとも一部は、前記保持体とともに弾性変形可能であることを特徴とする生体電極を提供する。このように導電束体および保持体が弾性変形することによって、生体接触端部と生体との接触を適切な状態で維持することが容易となる。
 前記導電束体は、前記保持体の前記弾性部の弾性回復力によって前記保持体に嵌持される接触保持部を有してもよい。
 前記導電束体の前記生体接触端部は、少なくとも表面が、炭素含有材料、金含有材料およびチタン含有材料からなる群から選ばれる1種または2種以上からなってもよい。
 前記導電線はカーボン繊維からなることが好ましい場合がある。
 前記保持体は、前記導電束体の長軸方向に沿った方向の長軸を有する筒体状の形状を有する部分を備えてもよい。
 前記保持体は、前記導電束体の前記生体接触端部に近位な部分に向けて外形が細くなるテーパー状の形状を有する部分を備えてもよい。
 前記導電束体と前記保持体とを有する構造体を複数備え、前記複数の構造体は、1つの前記端子に電気的に接続されてもよい。
 前記導電束体は、前記保持体による保持が解除された場合でも、前記複数の導電線が束ねられた状態を維持可能であってもよい。この場合において、前記導電束体は、付着性を有する材料により前記複数の導電線が束ねられた部分を有していてもよいし、その外側面の少なくとも一部が、前記複数の導電線を束ねる被覆材からなるものであってもよい。
 導電束体の外側面の少なくとも一部が被覆材からなる場合において、前記導電束体の前記生体接触端部の外側面は前記被覆材からなる部分を有していなくてもよい。前記導電束体は、前記保持体の前記弾性部の弾性回復力によって前記保持体に嵌持される接触保持部を有し、前記導電束体の前記接触保持部の外側面は前記被覆材からなる部分を有していなくてもよい。
 本発明は、他の一態様として、上記の本発明のいくつかの実施形態に係る生体電極の製造方法であって、前記複数の導電線が束ねられた部分を有し前記導電束体を与える束状導電部材の周囲に、弾性材料を供給し、前記弾性材料から形成された前記保持体を前記束状導電部材の周囲に配置する成形工程を備えることを特徴とする生体電極の製造方法を提供する。かかる製造方法は、量産性に優れる。
 前記成形工程では、流動性が高まった状態にある前記弾性材料を前記束状導電部材の周囲に供給し、前記弾性材料から形成された前記保持体を前記束状導電部材の周囲に配置することは、前記弾性材料の流動性を低下させることを含んでいてもよい。
 前記成形工程において、前記保持体は前記端子に付着してもよい。このようにすることで、導電束体、保持体、および端子を備える構造体を一時に製造することができる。
 前記束状導電部材は、付着性を有する材料により前記複数の導電線を予備的に束ねて形成されたものであってもよいし、前記複数の導電線を予備的に束ねる被覆材を有していてもよい。
 本発明は、別の一態様として、上記の本発明のいくつかの実施形態に係る生体電極の製造方法であって、開口部を少なくとも1つ備える中空部を有する弾性体からなり前記保持体を与える中空弾性部材と、前記複数の導電線が束ねられた部分を有し前記導電束体を与える束状導電部材とを用意し、前記束状導電部材の一方の端部である挿入端部を前記中空弾性部材の前記開口部から前記中空部内に挿入し、前記中空弾性部材における前記開口部以外の部分から前記挿入端部を突出させて、前記中空弾性部材によって前記束状導電部材を嵌持する挿着工程を備えることを特徴とする生体電極の製造方法を提供する。かかる製造方法は、製造容易性に優れる。
 前記中空弾性部材の前記中空部は前記開口部を少なくとも2つ備え、前記挿着工程では、前記開口部の1つである第1開口部から前記挿入端部を挿入し、前記開口部の他の1つである第2開口部から前記挿入端部を突出させてもよい。この場合において、前記挿着工程では、前記開口部の1つである第1開口部から前記束状導電部材の一方の端部を挿入し、前記中空部における非開口部に前記挿入端部を接触させて、前記第1開口部以外の開口部である第2開口部を穿設し、前記第2開口部から前記挿入端部を突出させてもよい。

 前記中空部は、前記第1開口部側から前記第2開口部側へと内面が縮径するテーパー部を有してもよい。
 前記束状導電部材は、外力なしでは、前記複数の導電線が束状の形態を維持不能であってもよいし、前記束状導電部材は、外力なしでも、前記複数の導電線が束状の形態を維持可能であってもよい。
 前記束状導電部材が外力なしでも前記複数の導電線が束状の形態を維持可能である場合において、前記束状導電部材は、付着性を有する材料により前記複数の導電線を予備的に束ねて形成されたものであってよいし、前記束状導電部材は、前記複数の導電線を予備的に束ねる被覆材を有してもよい。
 前記束状導電部材が前記複数の導電線を予備的に束ねる被覆材を有する場合において、前記挿着工程において前記挿入端部を前記中空弾性部材から突出させる際に、前記第2開口部と前記束状導電部材との摺動によって、前記被覆材の少なくとも一部を前記導電線から剥離させてもよい。この場合において、前記被覆材は厚さが不均一な領域を有してもよい。前記被覆材の厚さが不均一な領域では、前記被覆材を構成する材料が前記導電線の上に設けられていない部分を有してもよい。前記被覆材は厚さ方向に切込みが入ったスリット加工部を有してもよい。前記被覆材は、樹脂系材料から構成されていてもよい。前記挿着工程後、前記第2開口部から突出した前記挿入端部における前記被覆材を除去する被覆材除去工程をさらに備えてもよい。

 前記生体は、ヒトであってもよいし、ヒト以外の哺乳類または鳥類であってもよい。
 収集対象となる前記電気信号は、脳の動作に関する電気信号であってもよいし、心臓の動作に関する電気信号であってもよい。
 本発明によれば、毛が生えた皮膚に対して適用され繰り返し使用が可能な生体電極であって、皮膚への負担を抑えつつ皮膚に適切に接触することが可能な生体電極が提供される。または、本発明により、当該生体電極の製造方法および上記の生体電極を用いた生体から電気信号を収集する方法が提供される。

 以下、本発明の実施形態を図面に基づいて説明する。なお、以下の説明では、同一の部材には同一の符号を付し、一度説明した部材については適宜その説明を省略する。
 図1は本発明の一実施形態に係る生体電極の構造を概念的に示す断面図である。図2は本発明の一実施形態に係る生体電極の使用状態を概念的に示す断面図である。
 図1に表されるように、本発明の一実施形態に係る生体電極1は、複数の導電線101の束11を備える導電束体10、導電束体10の周囲に位置して導電束体10を保持する保持体20、導電束体10と電気的に接触した端子30、および導電束体10と端子30とを電気的に接続する配線40を備える。
 導電束体10の一方の端部である生体接触端部12は保持体20から突出して生体に接触可能である。生体接触端部12は、少なくとも表面が生体適合性を有する導電性材料からなる。そのような材料として、炭素系材料;金、チタン等の金属系材料;インジウム錫酸化物等の酸化物系材料などが例示される。生体適合性に優れるのであれば、生体接触端部12は有機系材料から構成されていてもよい。入手容易性等の観点から、導電束体10の生体接触端部12は、少なくとも表面が、炭素含有材料、金含有材料およびチタン含有材料からなる群から選ばれる1種または2種以上からなることが好ましい。
 図1に示される生体電極1では、生体接触端部12に位置する部分を含め、導電線101はカーボン繊維からなる。個々の導電線101の太さ(短軸径)に制限はないが、生体に安定的に接触することが容易である観点、取扱い性を適切に確保する観点、折れる可能性を低減する観点などから、導電線101の太さ(短軸径)は、10μmから数百μmの範囲内にあることが好ましい場合がある。束11を構成する導電線101の直径は複数種類であってもよい。導電線101がカーボン繊維からなる場合には、その直径が10μmから50μm程度の範囲にあることが好ましい場合がある。
 保持体20は弾性部21Cを有し、図1に示される生体電極1では、保持体20のうち生体接触端部12の近傍に位置する部分が弾性部21Cとなっている。保持体20を構成する材料は、弾性部21Cが適切な弾性を有することができる限り、限定されない。弾性材料として、シリコーンゴム;EPDMなどのエラストマー;イソプレンなどの天然ゴムなどが具体的な材料として例示される。保持体20は、こうした弾性材料と、硬質な材料との組み合わせによって構成されていてもよい。
 図1に示される生体電極1では、保持体20の弾性部21Cは導電束体10との接触によって弾性変形した状態にある。このため、弾性部21Cから導電束体10に対して弾性回復力EFが作用し、導電束体10は、この弾性回復力EFによって保持体20に嵌持される接触保持部13を有する。
 生体電極1は、使用時に、生体接触端部12に加えられた外力に応じて、導電束体10の少なくとも一部は、保持体20とともに弾性変形可能である。この場合には、図2に示されるように、生体BBに生体接触端部12に接触したことによって、外力Fが加えられると、その外力に応じて、導電束体10における生体接触端部12の近傍の部分が弾性部21Cとともに弾性変形している。このように弾性変形することによって、生体接触端部12と生体BBとの接触が適切な状態で維持される。
 上記の弾性変形が可能である限り、保持体20の形状は任意である。図1に示される生体電極では、保持体20は、導電束体10の長軸方向に沿った方向の長軸を有する筒体状の形状を有する部分を備える。
 図3は、本発明の他の一実施形態に係る生体電極の構造を概念的に示す断面図である。図3に示される生体電極1Aは、図1に示される生体電極1とは、保持体20の形状が相違する。生体電極1Aの保持体20は、導電束体10の生体接触端部12に近位な部分に向けて外形が細くなるテーパー状の形状を有する部分21Tを備える。そして、このテーパー状の形状を有する部分21T全体によって弾性部21Cは構成される。保持体20がこのような形状を有している場合には、接触対象である生体BBに毛が生えている場合に、その毛を避けることが容易となる場合がある。また、保持体20がこのような形状を有している方が容易に製造しうる場合もある。
 図1に示される生体電極1では、保持体20の弾性部21C全体が導電束体10に接して導電束体10を嵌持しているが、図3に示される生体電極1Aでは、保持体20の生体接触端部12側に近位な部分のみが導電束体10に接し、弾性回復力EFによって導電束体10を嵌持している。このため、図3に示される生体電極1Aが備える導電束体10では、接触保持部13は生体接触端部12側に近位な部分のみとなっている。
 図4は、本発明の別の一実施形態に係る生体電極の構造を概念的に示す断面図である。図4に示される生体電極1Bは、導電束体10と保持体20とを有する構造体50を複数備え、複数の構造体50は、1つの端子30に電気的に接続される。この場合には、配線40は分岐配線となっている。このように、構造体50の複数が1つの端子30に電気的に接続されること、換言すれば、生体電極1が備える1つの端子30に電気的に接続される構造体50が複数であることにより、生体電極1の端子30により生体BBからの電気信号を収集することがより安定的に実現される場合がある。
 導電束体10は、保持体20による保持が解除された場合でも、複数の導電線101が束ねられた状態を維持可能であってもよいし、複数の導電線101が束ねられた状態が解除されてもよい。導電束体10が備える複数の導電線101が何らかの方法によりあらかじめ束ねられていれば、保持体20による保持が解除された場合でも複数の導電線101が束ねられた状態を維持可能となる。具体的には、図5に示される生体電極1Cのように、導電束体10が、付着性を有する材料ADにより複数の導電線101が束ねられた部分を有していることが一例として挙げられる。付着性を有する材料ADは、アクリル系の粘着材料、ポリプロピレンなどの熱可塑性樹脂、シリコーン系の弾性材料などが具体例として挙げられる。
 保持体20による保持が解除された場合でも、複数の導電線101が束ねられた状態を維持可能となる場合の他の一例として、図6に示される生体電極1Dのように、導電束体10の外側面の少なくとも一部が、複数の導電線101を束ねる被覆材CMからなることが挙げられる。
 被覆材CMを構成する材料は限定されない。樹脂系材料が具体例として挙げられる。被覆材CMを構成する材料の自由度を高める観点から、導電束体10の生体接触端部12の外側面は被覆材CMからなる部分を有しないことが好ましい。この場合には、被覆材CMを絶縁性材料から構成することが可能である。導電束体10の接触保持部13の外側面は被覆材CMからなる部分を有していてもよいし、そのような部分を有していなくてもよい。導電束体10の接触保持部13の外側面が被覆材CMからなる部分を有しておらず、導電線101の束11を保持体20が直接的に嵌持している方が、導電束体10の保持体20に対する相対的な位置変化が生じにくくなる場合がある。
 続いて、本発明の一実施形態に係る生体電極1の一例を製造する方法について説明する。図7は、本発明の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造するための型の構造を概念的に示す断面図である。図8から図10は、図7に示される型を用いて本発明の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造する過程を概念的に示す断面図である。図11は、図8から図10に示される製造方法により製造された生体電極の構造を概念的に示す断面図である。図7から図11を用いて説明される生体電極の製造方法は、次に説明する成形工程を備える。
 図7に示されるように、生体電極を製造するための型100は、第1型部材111および第2型部材112を備える。第1型部材111は、開口AP1を備える貫通孔を有し、第2型部材112は、開口AP2を備える貫通孔を有する。第1型部材111および第2型部材112は、それぞれの貫通孔の中心軸が揃うように配置され、互いに対して固定されて、型100を構成している。したがって、型100は、開口AP1および開口AP2を備える中空部100Cを備え、この中空部100Cは開口AP1および開口AP2の中心を貫く中心軸を有する。開口AP1の開口径は、生体電極1の保持体20の外径に略近く、開口AP2の開口径は、導電束体10の外径に略近い。
 成形工程では、まず、図8に示されるような複数の導電線601が束ねられた部分を有し導電束体10を与える束状導電部材60を用意する。複数の導電線601の束61は、付着性を有する材料により予備的に束ねられていてもよいし、この束61を予備的に束ねる被覆材が設けられていてもよい。図8に示される束状導電部材60は、図示しない部分において、付着性を有する材料により予備的に束61が束ねられている。
 この束状導電部材60を、図8に示されるように、型100の中空部100Cの中心軸と束状導電部材60の長軸とが揃うように、中空部100C内に挿入し、型100の開口AP1および開口AP2のそれぞれから束状導電部材60が突出するように配置する。ここで、束状導電部材60の直径を開口AP2の開口径とほぼ等しくし、第2型部材112の開口AP2を備える貫通孔に束状導電部材60が嵌入した状態となることが好ましい。
 次に、図9に示されるように、中空部100Cにおける束状導電部材60が配置されている領域以外の領域に、流動性が高まった状態にある弾性材料(例えばシリコーン樹脂)RCを供給する。弾性材料RCが熱可塑性のシリコーン樹脂である場合には、当該樹脂を加熱することにより、その流動性を高めることができる。弾性材料RCが架橋構造を有しうる場合には、架橋剤による架橋の程度が低い状態とすることで、弾性材料RCの流動性を高めることができる。弾性材料RCの流動性が適度に低い場合には、束状導電部材60における複数の導電線601の束61の内部にも弾性材料RCを含浸させることが可能である。好ましい一例では、第2型部材112の開口AP2を備える貫通孔に束状導電部材60が適切に嵌入しているため、流動性が低い状態にある弾性材料RCは、開口AP2から型100の外部に漏れだすことは抑制される。
 続いて、図10に示されるように、中空部100C内に供給された弾性材料RCの流動性を低下させて、中空部100C内において弾性材料RCから保持体20を形成する。その結果、弾性材料RCから形成された保持体20は束状導電部材60の周囲に配置される。束状導電部材60の束61を構成する複数の導電線601の間に位置する弾性材料RCもその流動性が低下して、弾性材料RCから形成された部材によって複数の導電線601は束ねられる。こうして、複数の導電線601からなる複数の導電線101の束11とこれを束ねる部材とを備える導電束体10が形成され、その周囲に弾性材料RCから形成された保持体20が配置されて、生体電極1を構成する部材(構造体50を含む。)が得られる。
 流動性が低い状態にある弾性材料RCの流動性を高める方法は、弾性材料RCの性質に応じて適宜設定される。例えば、弾性材料RCが熱可塑性のシリコーン樹脂である場合には、弾性材料RCの温度を低下させることにより、弾性材料RCの流動性を高めることができる。弾性材料RCが架橋構造を有しうる場合には、加熱などを行って弾性材料RCにおける架橋密度を高めることにより、弾性材料RCの流動性を高めることができる。こうした弾性材料RCの流動性の低下は、通常、弾性材料RCの体積収縮を伴うため、弾性材料RCから保持体20を形成すると、保持体20は自ら弾性変形しつつ導電束体10を締め付けるように形成される。その結果、図11に示されるように、導電束体10は、保持体20の弾性回復力によって保持体20に嵌持される接触保持部13を備える。
 その後、導電束体10と保持体20とを備える部材を型100から取出し、クリップ41を用いて導電束体10とクリップ41とを電気的に接続し、クリップ41と端子30とを配線40によって電気的に接続することによって、生体電極1が得られる。
 以上説明した成形工程において、保持体20と端子30との付着を行ってもよい。この場合には、弾性材料RCを束状導電部材60の周囲に供給する際に、弾性材料RCが端子30にも接するように弾性材料RCを供給し、続いて行われる弾性材料RCの流動性の低下によって、弾性材料RCから形成された保持体20を端子30に付着させる。このような工程を採用することによって、導電束体10、保持体20および端子30が一体となった生体電極を簡便に製造することが可能となる。
 続いて、本発明のまた別の一実施形態に係る生体電極1Cの一例を製造する方法について説明する。図12は、本発明のまた別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造するための中空弾性部材の一例の構造を概念的に示す断面図である。図13は、図12に示される中空弾性部材を用いて本発明のまた別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造する過程を概念的に示す断面図である。図14は、中空弾性部材を用いて製造された生体電極の構造を概念的に示す断面図である。図12から図14を用いて説明される生体電極の製造方法は、次に説明する挿着工程を備える。
 図12に示される中空弾性部材70は、第1開口部71および第2開口部72を備える中空部70Cを有する弾性体からなる。本実施形態に係る製造方法において、中空弾性部材70は保持体20を与える部材である。したがって、中空弾性部材70は保持体20の弾性部21Cを構成する材料と同種の弾性材料から構成される。第1開口部71の開口径は第2開口部72の開口径よりも大きく、中空弾性部材70の外形は、第1開口部71側から第2開口部72側へと細くなるテーパー状の形状70Tを有する。中空弾性部材70の中空部70Cを画成する中空弾性部材70の内側面も、第1開口部71側から第2開口部72側へと細くなるテーパー状の形状70CTを有する。
 本実施形態に係る製造方法においても、複数の導電線801が束ねられた部分を有し導電束体10を与える束状導電部材80を用いる。束状導電部材80は、生体電極1を製造する際に用いた束状導電部材60と同様の構成を有する。図8に示されるように、束状導電部材80は、複数の導電線801の束81が付着性を有する物質ADによって束ねられた部分80BDを有する。
 本実施形態に係る製造方法では、図13に示されるように、束状導電部材80の一方の端部である挿入端部82を中空弾性部材70の第1開口部71から中空部70C内に挿入する。その際、中空部70Cを画成する中空弾性部材70の内側面は、第2開口部72へと径が狭くなるテーパー状の形状70CTを有しているため、束状導電部材80の挿入方向D1は、挿入の程度が進行するとともに、第1開口部71の開口中心と第2開口部72の開口中心を結ぶ線に沿った方向に近づく。
 そして、方向D1に沿った束状導電部材80の挿入をさらに進行させると、第2開口部72から束状導電部材80の挿入端部82は突出して、第2開口部72の近傍において、中空弾性部材70は束状導電部材80を嵌持する。ここで、第2開口部72の開口径を適切に調整すれば、具体的には、第2開口部72の開口径を束状導電部材80の外径よりも若干狭く設定すれば、第2開口部72の近傍において中空弾性部材70は弾性変形のみが生じるようにすることができる。第2開口部72の開口径が束状導電部材80の外径よりも十分に狭い場合には、束状導電部材80の挿入端部82を第2開口部72から突出させると、第2開口部72の近傍における中空弾性部材70の破断や第2開口部72の開裂が生じる。このような現象を生じさせることにより、中空弾性部材70による束状導電部材80の嵌持が適切に行われる場合もある。
 こうして、図14に示されるように、中空弾性部材70から形成された保持体20と、束状導電部材80から形成され保持体20から生体接触端部12が突出した導電束体10と、配線40およびクリップ41により導電束体10に電気的に接続された端子30とを備える生体電極1Cが得られる。
 中空弾性部材70は2つの開口部(第1開口部71、第2開口部72)を備えていたが、これに限定されない。図15は本発明のまた別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造するための中空弾性部材の他の一例を用いて本発明のまた別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造する過程を概念的に示す断面図である。図16および図17は、図15に示される中空弾性部材を用いて本発明のまた別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造する過程を概念的に示す断面図である。
 図15に示される中空弾性部材90は第1開口部91のみを有する。この場合には、図15に示されるように、第1開口部91から中空部90Cに束状導電部材80を挿入する。そして、中空弾性部材90を画成する内側面に束状導電部材80の挿入端部82を接触させる。さらに方向D2に沿った束状導電部材80の挿入を進行させて、図16に示されるように、中空弾性部材90を画成する内側面から中空弾性部材90を構成する弾性体内に束状導電部材80の挿入端部82を突き刺す。最終的には、図17に示されるように、束状導電部材80を中空弾性部材90に貫通させて、第1開口部91以外の開口部である第2開口部92を穿設し、第2開口部92から挿入端部82を突出させる。このようにすることによっても、図14に示されるような生体電極1Cを製造することができる。
 図13から図17に示される製造方法では、中空弾性部材70,90の中空部70C,90C内に挿入される束状導電部材80は、あらかじめ付着性を有する材料ADを用いることにより、外力なしでも複数の導電線801が束状の形態を維持可能とされている。しかしながら、束状導電部材80はこれに限定されない。束状導電部材80は、外力なしでは、複数の導電線801が束状の形態を維持不能であってもよい。このような場合であっても、適切なガイド(筒状の形状を有するものが例示される。)を用いて、束状導電部材80を中空弾性部材70,90の中空部70C,90C内に挿入すればよい。
 束状導電部材80が、外力なしでも複数の導電線801が束状の形態を維持可能となることは、付着性を有する材料ADを用いること以外によっても達成されうる。例えば、束状導電部材は、複数の導電線を予備的に束ねる被覆材を有していてもよい。
 図18は、本発明のさらに別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造するための中空弾性部材の一例および束状導電部材の一例を用いて本発明のさらに別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造する過程を概念的に示す断面図である。図19は、本発明のさらに別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造するための中空弾性部材の一例および束状導電部材の一例を用いて本発明のさらに別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造する過程を概念的に示す断面図である。図20は、本発明のさらに別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造するための中空弾性部材の一例および束状導電部材の一例を用いて本発明のさらに別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造する過程を概念的に示す断面図である。図21は、図18から図20に示される製造方法により製造された生体電極の構造を概念的に示す断面図である。
 図18に示される束状導電部材80は、複数の導電線801の束81の側面を覆うように被覆材83が配置され、この被覆材83によって、複数の導電線801が束状の形態を維持可能とされている。図18に示されるように、第1開口部71から中空部70C内に(方向D1に沿って)束状導電部材80を挿入することを進行させると、中空弾性部材70の内側面73と挿入端部82との接触が生じる。さらに束状導電部材80の方向D1に沿った挿入を進行させると、中空弾性部材70の内側面73は弾性変形し、挿入端部82を含む束状導電部材80の側面が中空弾性部材70の内側面73と摺動する。このとき、中空弾性部材70の弾性回復力EF(図19)によって中空弾性部材70の内側面73は束状導電部材80の側面を押圧する。
 その結果、図19に示されるように、束状導電部材80の被覆材83の一部が剥離して、複数の導電線801の束81の側面が露出した露出領域80Eが生じる。符号83Rで示された領域では、被覆材83が部分的に剥離した状態にある。被覆材83は、このような中空弾性部材70と束状導電部材80との摺動によって容易に剥離可能な材料から構成されていればよい。
 さらに束状導電部材80の方向D1への挿入を進行させると、図20に示されるように、第2開口部72が拡径されるような中空弾性部材70の弾性変形とともに、束状導電部材80の挿入端部82は中空弾性部材70から突出する。その際、束状導電部材80の突出した部分および中空弾性部材70によって嵌持される部分はいずれも、側面が露出領域80Eとなる。束状導電部材80の挿入端部82の突出を適切に進めることによって、束状導電部材80から導電束体10を得ることができ、中空弾性部材70から保持体20を得ることができる。そして、配線40およびクリップ41を用いて導電束体10と端子30とを電気的に接続することにより、図21に示されるように、生体電極1Dが得られる。
 図18から図21に示される束状導電部材80が備える被覆材83は、均一な厚さを有し、複数の導電線801の束81の側面全体を覆うように形成されているが、これに限定されない。図22は、本発明のまた別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造するための束状導電部材の他の一例の構造を概念的に示す断面図である。図23は、本発明のまた別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造するための束状導電部材の別の一例の構造を概念的に示す正面図(a)および断面図(b)である。図24は、本発明のまた別の一実施形態に係る生体電極を製造するための束状導電部材のまた別の一例の構造を概念的に示す正面図(a)および断面図(b)である。
 図22に示される束状導電部材80Aは、厚さが不均一な領域を有する被覆材84を備える。被覆材84は、図18から図21に示される束状導電部材80が備える被覆材83と同様に複数の導電線801の束81の側面全体を覆うように形成されているが、厚さが厚い肉厚部84Bおよび厚さが薄い肉薄部84Dが束状導電部材80Aの長軸方向に沿って交互に配置されている。このように被覆材84の厚さが異なることにより、束状導電部材80Aの挿入端部82が中空弾性体70から突出する前に中空弾性体70に接したときに、被覆材84は複数の導電線801の束81の側面から剥離しやすくなる。
 図23に示される束状導電部材80Bが備える被覆材85は、厚さが不均一な領域を有し、その領域では、被覆材85を構成する材料が複数の導電線801の束81の側面上に設けられていない部分、すなわち、束81の側面が露出した部分81Eを有する。このような構成を有する場合には、被覆材85を構成する部材は束81の側面に島状に配置されるため、束状導電部材80Bの挿入端部82が中空弾性体70から突出する前に中空弾性体70に接したときに、被覆材85は複数の導電線801の束81の側面から剥離しやすくなる。
 図24に示される束状導電部材80Cが備える被覆材86は、厚さ方向に切込みが入ったスリット加工部86Sを有する。このような構成を有する場合には、被覆材86を構成する部材は互いに近接しているものの束81の側面に独立に配置された状態となるため、束状導電部材80Cの挿入端部82が中空弾性体70から突出する前に中空弾性体70に接したときに、被覆材86は複数の導電線801の束81の側面から剥離しやすくなる。
 本発明のいくつかの実施形態に係る生体電極を、生体表面に押圧して、生体電極の生体接触端部を生体の皮膚に接触させ、生体接触端部から電気信号を収集することにより、生体から電気信号を収集することができる。測定対象である生体の種類は特に限定されない。生体の例として、毛や羽を有する哺乳類や鳥類が挙げられる。哺乳類の具体例として犬、猫等の愛玩動物、牛等の家畜、サル等の野生種、ヒトなどが挙げられ、鳥類の具体例として、ニワトリ、ハトなどの家畜種、トキ、ライチョウなどの野生種が挙げられる。ヒトが測定対象であって脳波を測定する場合には、測定部位が頭であっても、毛髪を適切に避けて、頭皮に接触することが可能である。測定信号の種類も限定されない。上記のように脳波であってもよいし、心臓の動作に関する電気信号(心電図を得るための信号が具体例として挙げられる。)であってもよい。
 図25は、本発明のいくつかの実施形態に係る生体電極の使用状態の一例を示す概念図である。図25に示される使用例では、測定対象はヒトBBHであり、ヒトBBHの頭部にヘッドギアHGが取り付けられている。ヘッドギアHGは、ネットキャップ2に複数の生体電極1が取り付けられ、生体電極1の生体接触端部12が頭皮に接触した状態はネットキャップ2により維持される。それぞれの生体電極1の端子30に電気的に接続されたリード線3はターミナル4に集められて、図示しない測定装置へと接続される。
 図26は、本発明のいくつかの実施形態に係る生体電極の使用状態の他の一例を示す概念図である。図26に示される使用例では、測定対象はヒト以外の動物(具体的にはウシである。)BBAであり、動物BBAの胴部に固定ギアBGが取り付けられている。固定ギアBGは、ネット5に複数の生体電極1が取り付けられ、生体電極1の生体接触端部12が動物BBAの肌に接触した状態はネット5により維持される。それぞれの生体電極1の端子30に電気的に接続されたリード線3はターミナル4に集められて、図示しない測定装置へと接続される。
 以上、本実施形態を説明したが、本発明はこれらの例に限定されるものではない。前述の各実施形態に対して、当業者が適宜、構成要素の追加、削除、設計変更を行ったものや、各実施形態に示した例の特徴を適宜組み合わせたものなども、本発明の要旨を備えている限り、本発明の範囲に包含される。
 例えば、図11に示される生体電極1は、導電束体10と端子30とはクリップ41および配線40を介して電気的に接続されているが、導電束体10と端子30は、導電ペーストを介して電気的に接続されていてもよいし、電気的な接続が直接的に行われていてもよい。あるいは、被覆材83を備える束状導電部材80を用いて挿着工程を行う場合において、挿入着工程後、第2開口部72から突出した挿入端部82における被覆材83を除去する被覆材除去工程をさらに備えてもよい。
 以下、実施例等により本発明をさらに具体的に説明するが、本発明の範囲はこれらの実施例等に限定されるものではない。
 図27は、本発明の実施例に係る生体電極の外観を概念的に示す斜視図である。図27に示されるように、実施例に係る生体電極1Eは、導電束体10と保持体20とを有する構造体50を8つ有する。各構造体50は、生体接触端部12が位置する側とは反対側に樹脂部RPが位置し、樹脂部RPにおける構造体50が設けられている面とは反対側の面に端子30が設けられている。樹脂部RP内に、各構造体50の導電束体10と端子30とを電気的に接続する配線40が埋設されている。導電束体10の導電線101は直径10μm程度の炭素繊維からなり、複数の導電線101の束11の直径は1mm程度であった。
 図28は、比較例となる従来技術に係る生体電極の外観を概念的に示す斜視図である。比較例に係る生体電極200は、外観は生体電極1Eに近いが、全体が金属で構成され、その最表面には金めっきが施されている。比較例に係る生体電極200は、生体電極1Eの構造体50に対応する金属製のピン201を9本有し、それぞれの先端には、生体電極1Eの生体接触端部12に相当する金属製の球状体202が設けられている。生体電極1Eの樹脂部RPに相当する基部203も金属製であって、ピン201が設けられている側とは反対側の端部204が生体電極1Eの端子30に対応する。
 実施例に係る生体電極1Eおよび比較例に係る生体電極200のそれぞれをインピーダンス計(ニホンサンテク社製「MaP811」)に接続し、測定周波数30Hzでインピーダンス測定を行った。測定用の基準電極は心電用のゲル電極(メッツ社製「エルローデ」)であり、導電性ペースト(GEヘルスジャパン社製「E.Gel」)を用いた。実施例に係る生体電極1Eを頭皮に軽く(5gf~30gf程度)押し付けたところ、測定されたインピーダンスは80kΩから100kΩであった。これに対し、比較例に係る生体電極200を同様の力で頭皮に押し付けたところ、測定されたインピーダンスは200kΩ程度であった。

Claims (38)

  1.  複数の導電線の束を備える導電束体と、前記導電束体の周囲に位置して前記導電束体を保持する保持体と、前記導電束体と電気的に接触した端子とを備える生体電極であって、
     前記導電束体の一方の端部である生体接触端部は、少なくとも表面が生体適合性を有する導電性材料からなり、
     前記生体接触端部は前記保持体から突出して生体に接触可能であって、
     前記保持体は弾性部を有し、前記生体接触端部に加えられた外力に応じて、前記導電束体の少なくとも一部は、前記保持体とともに弾性変形可能であること
    を特徴とする生体電極。
  2.  前記導電束体は、前記保持体の前記弾性部の弾性回復力によって前記保持体に嵌持される接触保持部を有する、請求項1に記載の生体電極。
  3.  前記導電束体の前記生体接触端部は、少なくとも表面が、炭素含有材料、金含有材料およびチタン含有材料からなる群から選ばれる1種または2種以上からなる、請求項1または2に記載の生体電極。
  4.  前記導電線はカーボン繊維からなる、請求項3に記載の生体電極。
  5.  前記保持体は、前記導電束体の長軸方向に沿った方向の長軸を有する筒体状の形状を有する部分を備える、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極。
  6.  前記保持体は、前記導電束体の前記生体接触端部に近位な部分に向けて外形が細くなるテーパー状の形状を有する部分を備える、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極。
  7.  前記導電束体と前記保持体とを有する構造体を複数備え、前記複数の構造体は、1つの前記端子に電気的に接続される、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極。
  8.  前記導電束体は、前記保持体による保持が解除された場合でも、前記複数の導電線が束ねられた状態を維持可能である、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極。
  9.  前記導電束体は、付着性を有する材料により前記複数の導電線が束ねられた部分を有する、請求項8に記載の生体電極。
  10.  前記導電束体は、その外側面の少なくとも一部が、前記複数の導電線を束ねる被覆材からなる、請求項8または9に記載の生体電極。
  11.  前記導電束体の前記生体接触端部の外側面は前記被覆材からなる部分を有しない、請求項10に記載の生体電極。
  12.  前記導電束体は、前記保持体の前記弾性部の弾性回復力によって前記保持体に嵌持される接触保持部を有し、
     前記導電束体の前記接触保持部の外側面は前記被覆材からなる部分を有しない、請求項10または11に記載の生体電極。
  13.  請求項1から12のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法であって、
     前記複数の導電線が束ねられた部分を有し前記導電束体を与える束状導電部材の周囲に、弾性材料を供給し、前記弾性材料から形成された前記保持体を前記束状導電部材の周囲に配置する成形工程を備えること
    を特徴とする生体電極の製造方法。
  14.  前記成形工程では、流動性が高まった状態にある前記弾性材料を前記束状導電部材の周囲に供給し、前記弾性材料から形成された前記保持体を前記束状導電部材の周囲に配置することは、前記弾性材料の流動性を低下させることを含む、請求項13に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  15.  前記成形工程において、前記保持体は前記端子に付着する、請求項14に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  16.  前記束状導電部材は、付着性を有する材料により前記複数の導電線を予備的に束ねて形成されたものである、請求項13から15のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  17.  前記束状導電部材は、前記複数の導電線を予備的に束ねる被覆材を有する、請求項13から16のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  18.  請求項2から7のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法であって、
     開口部を少なくとも1つ備える中空部を有する弾性体からなり前記保持体を与える中空弾性部材と、前記複数の導電線が束ねられた部分を有し前記導電束体を与える束状導電部材とを用意し、
     前記束状導電部材の一方の端部である挿入端部を前記中空弾性部材の前記開口部から前記中空部内に挿入し、前記中空弾性部材における前記開口部以外の部分から前記挿入端部を突出させて、前記中空弾性部材によって前記束状導電部材を嵌持する挿着工程を備えること
    を特徴とする生体電極の製造方法。
  19.  前記中空弾性部材の前記中空部は前記開口部を少なくとも2つ備え、前記挿着工程では、前記開口部の1つである第1開口部から前記挿入端部を挿入し、前記開口部の他の1つである第2開口部から前記挿入端部を突出させる、請求項18に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  20.  前記挿着工程では、前記開口部の1つである第1開口部から前記束状導電部材の一方の端部を挿入し、前記中空部における非開口部に前記挿入端部を接触させて、前記第1開口部以外の開口部である第2開口部を穿設し、前記第2開口部から前記挿入端部を突出させる、請求項19に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  21.  前記挿入端部を前記中空弾性部材から突出させる際に、前記第2開口では、前記挿入端部の近傍を弾性回復力によって嵌持しうる弾性変形が生じる、請求項19または20に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  22.  前記中空部は、前記第1開口部側から前記第2開口部側へと内面が縮径するテーパー部を有する、請求項19から21のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  23.  前記束状導電部材は、外力なしでは、前記複数の導電線が束状の形態を維持不能である、請求項19から22のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  24.  前記束状導電部材は、外力なしでも、前記複数の導電線が束状の形態を維持可能である、請求項19から22のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  25.  前記束状導電部材は、付着性を有する材料により前記複数の導電線を予備的に束ねて形成されたものである、請求項24に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  26.  前記束状導電部材は、前記複数の導電線を予備的に束ねる被覆材を有する、請求項24に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  27.  前記挿着工程において前記挿入端部を前記中空弾性部材から突出させる際に、前記第2開口部と前記束状導電部材との摺動によって、前記被覆材の少なくとも一部を前記導電線から剥離させる、請求項26に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  28.  前記被覆材は厚さが不均一な領域を有する、請求項27に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  29.  前記被覆材の厚さが不均一な領域では、前記被覆材を構成する材料が前記導電線の上に設けられていない部分を有する、請求項28に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  30.  前記被覆材は厚さ方向に切込みが入ったスリット加工部を有する、請求項27から29のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  31.  前記被覆材は、樹脂系材料からなる、請求項26から30のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  32.  前記挿着工程後、前記第2開口部から突出した前記挿入端部における前記被覆材を除去する被覆材除去工程をさらに備える、請求項26から31のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  33.  前記中空弾性部材が絶縁性材料からなる、請求項18から32のいずれか一項に記載の生体電極の製造方法。
  34.  請求項1から12のいずれか一項に記載される生体電極または請求項18から33のいずれか一項に記載される生体電極の製造方法により製造された生体電極を、生体表面に押圧して、前記生体電極の前記生体接触端部を前記生体の皮膚に接触させ、前記生体接触端部から電気信号を収集する、生体から電気信号を収集する方法。
  35.  前記生体はヒトである、請求項34に記載の生体から電気信号を収集する方法。
  36.  前記生体はヒト以外の哺乳類または鳥類である、請求項34に記載の生体から電気信号を収集する方法。
  37.  収集対象となる前記電気信号は、脳の動作に関する電気信号である、請求項34から36のいずれか一項に記載の生体から電気信号を収集する方法。
  38.  収集対象となる前記電気信号は、心臓の動作に関する電気信号である、請求項34から36のいずれか一項に記載の生体から電気信号を収集する方法。
