Abstract

At the bottom of a shell (5), a temporary storage can (4) for vacuumed waste comprises a dish (31) that is pushed upwards by a spring but lowers when flexible bags (13) located above the dish (31) fill up with waste. The position of the lid (13) is continuously monitored so that it is possible to stop the vacuuming operation only once the can is full enough but before getting clogged.

Description

RESERVOIR DE DECHETS ASPIRES  ASPIRE WASTE TANK
DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION
The subject of the invention is a tank of aspired waste, to be used in combination with a vacuum cleaner and whose interest is particularly marked for the storage of hazardous waste, radioactive for example.
Industrial vacuum cleaners comprising a removable holding tank are already known. Some models include, as seen in Figures 1 and 2, a reservoir consisting of a filter canister 1, provided with respective connectors 2 and 3 to an inlet duct 41 and an outlet duct 42. A vacuum cleaner 43 is connected to the free end of the outlet duct 42 and draws outside air and surrounding solids to the filter can 1. The volume of the latter is divided into two parts by a filter 44 of cylindrical shape. The inlet connection 2 opens under the filter 44, in a lower volume 45 where the waste accumulates, while the air, rising from the sides and passing through the filter 44, leaves the filter container 1 through the connection 3 of Exit and continues its path to the vacuum cleaner 43. Such a device, effective in itself, however, has the disadvantages that a large volume of the filter canister 1 remains unoccupied, and that the complete filling state is difficult to evaluate. In the case of radioactive or more generally dangerous waste, the filter can 1 is disposable and set aside as soon as it is considered to be filled: this implies either under-filling and thus a waste of material and volume. storage, or over-filling which may result in accidental waste losses at the time of dismantling the filter container 1, if for example they occupied part of the volume of the inlet fitting 2. Finally, early clogging can occur.
The main object of the invention is therefore to filter and collect solid waste while following in good conditions the filling of the reservoir, firstly its physical filling, possibly its radiological filling, for example by comparison with a threshold of radioactivity tolerated, and its degree of clogging. The invention is applicable to the aspiration of waste in the nuclear field, but not only.
Another object of the invention is to limit the final size of the waste vacuumed by a judicious arrangement for a greater filling of the tank. Another is to maintain the radioactivity of nuclear waste at an acceptable level and therefore to limit the filling of the tank if necessary. Another is to work as much as possible away from the tank during disassembly, using tools such as remote manipulators.
In a general form, the invention relates to a vacuum waste container, comprising a waste holding pot, fittings for vacuum ducts leading to the interior of the pot, a filter present in the pot between one of the fittings, affected to an air inlet in the tank, and another of the connections, assigned to an air outlet of the tank, characterized in that the filter comprises at least one flexible bag, the pot comprises a cylindrical portion in which slides a tray mobile, spring biased to the bag and separated from the fitting assigned to the air inlet by the bag, and the reservoir further comprises a tray position detection device.
The use of a flexible bag to replace a solid filter, such as that of Figure 2, allows a good filling of the interior of the pot, and without risk of premature clogging. The more the bag fills, the more it pushes the tray against the action of the spring, which is detected and thus finally indicates when the filling is completed.
The reservoir may comprise a nozzle carrying the connections, the pot comprises a bottom wall, a cylindrical wall and a mouth of the pot opposite the bottom, the spring is compressed against the bottom, and means for assembling the pot under the endpiece. being at a position where the mouth is contiguous to the mouthpiece. This makes it possible to dispose of the pot alone at the end of filling, and to refill the mouthpiece for subsequent aspiration with a replacement pot.
The reservoir may likewise comprise a base, means for assembling the pot on the base, the position detection device then belonging to the base. Here again, the assembly and disassembly and therefore the replacement of the pot are easy, without the detection device must be replaced. It is then advantageous that the pot includes a recess, surrounded by the spring and the tray, wherein the position sensing device is housed; and even more so that the depression is open, operated under the bottom of the pot, the position detection device mounted on the base, and the pot assembly means on the base comprise a centering of the pot by the detection device , and a simple support of the pot by an upper cover of the base: the pot can then be mounted on the base provided with measuring and control equipment simply by placing it on it, the detector ensuring the centering and maintenance in place of pot.
The base still advantageously comprises, in the case of radioactive aspirated waste, a radioactivity detector.
An easy mounting of the bag in the pot is realized if it comprises a removable flange, carrying a tapping assigned to the air inlet to an assembled state of the tank, comprising, at a first end, a junction with the and a bracket for attaching an opening of the flexible bag to a second end opposite the first end.
In one important embodiment, several bags are used at once: the stitching is central on the flange, is divided into several branches each provided with a support for fixing an opening of a said respective flexible bag, the branches being distributed around a circumference of the connecting duct.
The device may further comprise a latching cover on the mouth of the pot, and which therefore contributes to ensure a reliable and permanent containment of waste once the pot is removed from the rest of the tank.
Finally, the pot advantageously comprises a perforated inner wall separating a volume remaining unoccupied from an expansion volume of the bag, in order to avoid premature clogging.
These and other aspects of the invention will now be described with reference to the following figures, appended purely for illustrative purposes, which describe a particular embodiment of the invention:
- la figure 1, déjà décrite, représente un schéma d'aspirateur industriel, FIG. 1, already described, represents a diagram of an industrial vacuum cleaner,
- la figure 2, la disposition d'un bidon filtrant, et - les figures 3, 4 et 5, des vues en éclaté des trois principaux éléments d'une réalisation de réservoir, FIG. 2, the arrangement of a filter can, and FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, exploded views of the three main elements of a reservoir embodiment,

- et la figure 7, un élément d'assemblage du réservoir.  and FIG. 7, an assembly element of the reservoir.
On se reporte à la figure 3.  Referring to Figure 3
The portion of the tank specially associated with the storage of waste comprises a pot 4 composed mainly of a casing 5 and a flange 6. The casing 5 comprises a cylindrical side wall 7, a bottom 8, and a mouth 9 superior opposed to the bottom 8. A cylindrical grid 10 extends inside the side wall 7, to which it is coaxial, and separates a peripheral annular volume from a main volume of the pot 4. The flange 6 comprises a central stitching 11, which is however divided into radiating branches at the lower end, and the ends of its branches support supports 12 for fastening 13 flexible filter bags. When the pot 4 is assembled, the flange 6 fits into the mouth 9 while preserving the tightness, and the central stitching 11 and the bags 13 are then lowered into the central volume of the envelope 5 surrounded by the grid 10 .
Figure 3 also shows a latching cover 14 on the flange 6, after the filling of the pot 4, preliminary to its final storage. It comprises a peripheral rim 15 capping the flange 6, and resilient claws 16 that can enter the central tapping 11 and then deploy while relaxing. The lid 14 however remains separated from the tank before, and especially during filling.
FIG. 4 represents an upper nozzle, called an interface box 17, comprising an inlet duct connector 18, connectable to a vacuum duct such as the duct 41, and an outlet duct connector 19 such as the duct 42. The first is in the center of the tip 17, the second is eccentric. The connectors 18 and 19 are provided with pressure probes 20 and 21, which indicate the suction air and the discharge air pressure and can thus announce a risk of clogging. The interface box 17 is a second main module of the tank, which is assembled with a sealed engagement with the pot 4. Figure 5 shows a base 22 which is the third main module of the tank. It comprises an envelope 23, an upper cover 24 in the center of which is mounted a protruding position detector 25, and in the envelope 23, a radioactivity detector (which may be a dose rate sensor 26) mounted in a collimator 27, and electrical and electronic equipment 28 which may include batteries; the casing 23 also carries electrical and electronic connections 29 and an interface 30 may include indicators of operating status, measurement of sensors, etc. The position detector 25 is a non-contact, magnetic detector for example, mounted in a rigid finger welded to the top cover 24.
The inside of the envelope 5 of the pot 4 further comprises a mobile plate 31, which extends under the bags 13 and is also surrounded by the grid 10. It is hollowed at its center and crossed by a finger 32, pointing towards the inside, of the envelope 5, in which a housing opening towards the bottom is formed.
As shown in FIG. 6, the finger of the position detector 25 enters this housing and occupies it in the mounting state of the reservoir, which ensures the centering of the pot 4 on the base 22. The pot 4 is by elsewhere simply placed on the upper cover 24. The assembly of the interface box 17 with the pot 4 can be achieved by means of a cage 33 shown in Figure 7, comprising a plate 34 on which the pot 4 is placed by the bottom 8, and columns 35 screwed at their end each to the plate 34 and the interface box 17. The plate 34 is recessed at its center to leave room for the position detector 25.
A spring 36 is disposed around the recess 32 in the casing 5. It is compressed between the bottom 8 and the plate 31 to push it upwards. The connector 18 completely crosses the interface box 17 and engages the central branching 11, while the interface box 17, whose bottom is recessed, communicates with the interior of the pot 4. The sealing of the volume and formed is provided by seals 37 and 38 disposed on the upper face and the peripheral face of the flange 11 and respectively compressed by the bottom of the interface box 17 and the top of the side wall 7. When the suction is undertaken, the waste is sucked into the bags 13 and remain there, while the air passes through and returns to the interface box 17, before being discharged into the outlet 19; it always has the peripheral volume, beyond the grid 10, regardless of the swelling of the bags 13, to flow without clogging early, before the full filling of the bags 13. When the filling increases, the waste aspired weighs on the plate 31 and make it descend gradually. The position detector 25, which is at the height of the plate 31, during its entire downstroke, measures at any instant the height position of the plate 31 by a magnetic interaction variation and indicates in particular when the plate 31 and at its level the lowest, which means that pot 4 is full. An earlier termination of aspiration may however be decided if for example the dose rate probe 26 indicates that an excessive level of radioactivity will be reached. The pressure sensors 20 and 21 are also tracked. The results can be displayed on the interface 30 or transmitted remotely.
When the filling is completed, the tank is isolated from the rest of the vacuum by dismounting the conduits 4 and 5, then the upper screws of the columns 35 are removed, the interface box 17 is raised; and (by then proceeding advantageously by remote handling for this part of the most dangerous disassembly, the waste being then immediately accessible), the cover 14 is placed on the flange 6, and the pot 4 is lifted and carried away. We can then dispose of the pot 4 without risking its content. A new pot 4 is prepared and the tank is assembled again.
