- the main signal light component (wavelength ⁇ a) exists, the first light of the light in the first frequency range FR1 (spectrum 52 in FIG. 4) including the main signal light component (wavelength ⁇ a) and the noise light component.
- the main signal light component (wavelength ⁇ a) When the main signal light component (wavelength ⁇ a) is extinguished due to attenuation during transmission (LOS: Loss Of Signal) or the optical fiber transmission line 31 is cut off halfway, the light ( As shown in the spectrum 51a) in FIG. 5, the signal light interruption state in which the main signal light component (wavelength ⁇ a) does not exist is obtained.
- Raman pumping light is input from the Raman amplifier to the optical fiber transmission line 31, a noise light component exists in the optical fiber transmission line 31 even in the signal light interruption state. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 5, when there is no main signal light component (wavelength ⁇ a), the first light of the first frequency range FR1 including only the noise light component (spectrum 52a in FIG. 5).
- the difference between the voltage value corresponding to the second optical power and the voltage value corresponding to the second optical power of the light in the second frequency range FR2 including only the noise light component (spectrum 53a in FIG. 5) is greater than the threshold value. - the frequency grid of the first frequency range FR1 in which the noise light component in the frequency range other than the first frequency range FR1 including the main signal light component is shifted from the first frequency range FR1 by a half cycle. Since the detection is performed in the second frequency range FR2 corresponding to the same frequency grid, the total optical power of the ASE noise light components is stable.
- the determination unit 355 does not arrange the main signal light component (wavelength ⁇ a) from the total value of the first optical power in the first frequency range FR1 where the main signal light component (wavelength ⁇ a) is arranged. Based on the voltage value corresponding to the difference in the optical power obtained by subtracting the total value of the second optical power in the second frequency range FR2, it is possible to make a highly reliable determination regarding the signal light interruption state.
- the level of the main signal light component may be slightly higher than the level of the noise light noise in the same band. The closer these levels are, the total amount obtained by extracting the main signal light component.
- Power total voltage level to be compared, which is the level of the main signal light component and the noise light component
- total power obtained by extracting the noise light component total voltage level to be compared
- the level of only the noise light component become small, and it may be difficult to determine whether or not the signal light is interrupted.
- the total power of the noise light component divided by the optical interleaver 352 is about half of the total power of the noise light component before the division, so that the main signal light component and the noise light component are reduced. The difference in total power can be increased.
- an optical interleaver 352 that is an optical passive element is used to extract a main signal light component and a noise light component in an optical wavelength multiplex transmission system including a Raman amplifier, respectively. Since the signal light interruption state (transmission path disconnection and LOS occurrence) can be detected by photoelectrically converting and comparing the optical output, the optical wavelength using the main signal light arranged at periodic wavelength intervals In a multiplex transmission system, it is possible to detect a signal light interruption state with high reliability and high speed without using complicated control.
- the level of the band including the main signal light component is extracted at the period of the wavelength frequency of the main signal light component in the wavelength division multiplexing transmission, and the half period is shifted. Since the level of the component band can be extracted and used as a noise light component, the noise light component that has been difficult to extract at a stable level can be easily and stably extracted and used.
- the total power of noise after separation can be reduced to about half that before separation by the optical interleaver 352, so that the difference in total power between the main signal light component and the noise light component is widened. And make a reliable comparison. Therefore, it is possible to detect the signal light interruption state with high reliability and high speed.

Thus, it is possible to detect the signal light interruption state with high reliability and high speed without using complicated control.
- the signal light interruption state is high regardless of the wavelength arrangement even in the case where a plurality of wavelength components exist in addition to a single wavelength signal in the multi-stage relay optical fiber transmission line. It can be detected with reliability.
