[0009] Figure 5 is a view of the nail polish cap of Figure 1, when positioned on the finger of a user and applying nail polish to a nail of a user.
[0010] Figure 6A is a side view of the nail polish cap of Figure 1.
[0011] Figure 6B is a perspective view of the nail polish cap of Figure 1 wherein
Figure 6A and 6B illustrate an incline or a cylindrical portion.
[0012] Figure 7 illustrates a top view of the nail polish cap of Figure 1.
[0013] Figure 8 illustrates a side view of the nail polish cap of Figure 1.
Detailed Description
[0014] One embodiment of the nail polish cap of the present invention, illustrated generally at 10 in Figure 1, includes a unitary main body 12 having a first end 24 that defines a partial cylindrical portion 14 that defines an orifice 15 sized and shaped for receipt of a an end 16 of a user's finger 18, as shown in Figure 4. For some embodiments, the user's finger is on a non-dominant hand. The cylindrical portion 14 defines a gap 20 at ends 32 and 34 that are movable based on the thickness of the user's finger. A top view of the gap 20 is shown in Figure 7.
[0015] The cylindrical portion 14 is inclined as shown at 22 in Figure 2 and Figure
3. For one embodiment, the unitary main body 12 is made of polypropylene. The main body 12 includes a second end 26, opposing the first end, to which a nail polish brush 28 is attached. For some embodiments, the cylindrical portion 14 is at an angle with respect to the horizontal as shown in Figures 6A and 6B.
[0016] The nail polish cap acts as an extension of the user's finger and imparts to the user improved control for non-dominant hand application, compared to the control of a conventional nail polish cap. Nail polish cap embodiments of the present invention add stability by acting as an extension of the user's finger, i.e. index finger, particularly of the user's non-dominant hand. Nail polish, as used herein refers to polish, varnish, paint and lacquer that is applied to a user's finger nails or toenails.
[0017] In use, the user inserts her index finger through the orifice 15 so that at least a portion of her fingerprints contact a surface 30 of the cylindrical portion 14. The main body is positioned about the user's finger joint proximal to the user's fingernail, as shown in Figures 4 and 5. The cylindrical portion 14 is expandable because the gap increases in size to accommodate the diameter of the user's finger by movement of the cylindrical portion ends 32 and 34 away from each other. For some embodiments, the incline of the cylindrical portion positions the user's finger upwards.
[0018] In various embodiments, the inventive composition or method can be any one of any of the combinations and/or sub-combinations of the above-listed
embodiments.
[0019] While the invention has been described and exemplified in sufficient detail for those skilled in this art to make and use it, various alternatives, modifications, and improvements will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the claims.
[0020] All patents and publications referred to herein are incorporated by reference to the same extent as if each individual publication was specifically and individually indicated to be incorporated by reference.
[0021] The terms and expressions which have been employed are used as terms of description and not of limitation, and there is no intention that in the use of such terms and expressions of excluding any equivalents of the features shown and described or portions thereof, but it is recognized that various modifications are possible within the scope of the invention claimed. Thus, it should be understood that although the present invention has been specifically disclosed by preferred embodiments and optional features, modification and variation of the concepts herein disclosed may be resorted to by those skilled in the art, and that such modifications and variations are considered to be within the scope of this invention as defined by the appended claims.
