Abstract

A pre-insulated tube with an outer insulating sheath (2) made of polyvinyl chloride. The inner tube (1) is made of plastic, copper, steel, iron or any other material and is externally insulated with an insulating material (3), usually polyurethane. Due to the presence of the outer sheath (2), the tube can be connected with any other component by using a glue.

Description

DESCRIPTION
"PRE-INSULATED TUBE WITH AN OUTER
INSULATING SHEATH" FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to the field of pre-insulated tubes which have an outer sheath of polyvinyl chloride and an intermediate suitable insulating material. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The pre-insulated tube of the present invention, comprising an intermediate insulating material and an outer sheath of polyvinyl chloride has not been presented in the prior art.
Until now, pre-insulated tubes mainly consist of an outer part made of polyethylene. Due to the fact that polyethylene cannot be glued by an adhesive but only by suitable machines, it is difficult for installers to handle polyethylene. Also, another disadvantage is the increase in cost, due to the special components required for gluing and the connections between the tubes.
The above disadvantages led to the ;use of tubes having a polyethylene; cover only in installations where these are enclosed in the ground and where absolute fitting, without leakage, such as in buildings, is not required.
Thus it is an object of the present invention to address advantageously the said disadvantages and deficiencies of the prior art by providing a pre-; insulated tube with an outer sheath made of polyvinyl chloride.
Additionally, an object of the present invention is to provide a pre- insulated tube with an outer sheath of polyvinyl chloride, wherein the insulation is achieved by means of polyurethane or other suitable materials.
A further object of the invention is to provide a pre-insulated tube which reduces the thermal losses of the tubes, increasing the efficiency of the: installation. Another object of the present invention is to provide a pre-insulated tube with an outer sheath of polyvinyl chloride, due to which condensation is avoided, when this is employed in cooling installations.
A further object of the invention is to provide components for use in tubing installations, which may be easily and quickly joined without the use of time-consuming and costly methods of the past.
Another advantage of the present invention is that the pre-insulated tube may be manufactured from any suitable material for use in the interior of a building.
Another advantage of the invention is that since polyvinyl chloride is used for the outer sheath, the tube can be easily shaped by the use of heat gun.
Another object of the invention is to provide a pre-insulated tube with an outer sheath of polyvinyl chloride, which upon use reduces the cost and changes the quality of the installation. ; . ,
These and further objects, features and advantages of the invention will be understood by the following detailed description.-
BRIED DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
The invention will be fully understood by those skilled in the art with reference to the accompanying figures, in which it is shown in an exemplary, non-limiting way.
Figures 1 (a)-(b) show in top vieW and in cross-section the pre- insulated tube with a plastic sheath of polyvinyl chloride according to the; invention.
Figures 2 (a)-(b) show in top view two configured, pre-insulated: components having a plastic sheath, and having an angle of 45°and 90° respectively. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Referring now to the accompanying figures, exemplary embodiments of the pre-insulated tube with a plastic sheath of polyvinyl chloride, according to the present invention, is shown. The tube consists of three different parts. The inner tube (1), Fig. 1 (a), which may be made of any suitable material for tubing, for example copper, plastic, steel or generally iron. It further has an outer sheath (2), Fig. 1 (b), which is made of polyvinyl chloride and which allows easy connection and glueing. Between the said two tubes an insulating material (3) is interposed, which contributes in a considerable reduction in thermal losses. Also its presence aids in the prevention of condensation in cooling applications. As an insulating material it is exemplarily mentioned that polyurethane may be employed, without this being limited since any other suitable material may be used.
The tubes, according to the present invention, can be connected to each other by any kind of components, such as parts cut to 45°, Fig. 2(a), angles 90°, Fig. 2(b), or components such as T-shaped and T-diversions. The advantage consists in the easy and quick gluing, since polyvinyl chloride can be glued by a simple glue. For absolute fitting, the above components should have an inner cross-section (1) equal to the corresponding cross-section of the outer sheath (2) of the pipe with which they are connected. Thereafter a hole is opened on the respective component, or alternatively it has been already opened, and by a heat gun the necessary insulating material (3) is applied at the points where such insulation is missing.
In an alternative embodiment of the nvention, the special components may themselves be pre-insulated, so that the application of an insulating material (3) is not required and the procedure is further accelerated.
It should be noted that the description of the invention was made with reference to exemplary non-limiting embodiments. Thus, any variation or modification as regards the shape, dimensipns, morphology, construction and assemblying materials and components employed, as long as not constituting a new inventive step and not contributing to the technical advance of the already known are considered as encompassed in the scope of the present invention. !
