Abstract

1,001,043. Hose-pipes. B.T.R. INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 27, 1963 [Nov. 30, 1962], No. 45293/62. Heading F2P. A hose which is flexible comprises a preformed inner tube 1 of an elastomeric material, such as natural or synthetic rubber, polyvinyl chloride, a polychloroprene, polybutadiene styrene-butadiene copolymer, nitrile rubber, nylon, polyethylene or blends of two or more of such materials, an intermediate layer 3 of a flexible cellular material, e.g. foamed polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polystyrene and blends of such materials, and an outer abrasion resistant cover 4 which may be formed of materials similar to that of the tube 1. The latter may be surrounded by a woven, circular, polyvinyl-chloride-impregnated fabric 2, and antistatic agents, flame retardent agents, fillers, pigments or bonding agents may be incorporated in the materials for the tube 1, layer 3 and cover 4. A metal reinforcement in the form of a spirally wound high tensile steel wire, a wire mesh or a sprayed metal foil may be introduced between the layers of the hose.
