Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the field of liquid crystal display technologies, and in particular, to a liquid crystal display.
  • Liquid crystal display has many advantages such as thin body, power saving, and no radiation, and has been widely used. Such as: LCD TV, mobile phone, personal digital assistant (PDA), digital camera, computer screen or laptop screen.
  • a liquid crystal display device includes a housing, a liquid crystal display panel disposed in the housing, and a backlight module disposed in the housing.
  • the structure of the liquid crystal display panel is mainly composed of a Thin Film Transistor Array Substrate (TFT Array Substrate), a color filter substrate (Color Filter, CF), and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the two substrates ( Liquid Crystal Layer) is constructed by controlling the rotation of the liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer by applying a driving voltage on the two glass substrates, and refracting the light of the backlight module to produce a picture.
  • TFT Array Substrate Thin Film Transistor Array Substrate
  • Color Filter Color Filter
  • CF color filter substrate
  • Liquid Crystal Layer Liquid Crystal Layer
  • Quantum Dots (QDs) materials refer to semiconductor grains with a particle size of 1 to 100 nm. Since the quantum dot material has a particle size smaller than or close to the exciton Bohr radius of the corresponding bulk material, a quantum confinement effect is produced.
  • the energy level structure changes from quasi-continuous of bulk material to discrete structure of quantum dot material, resulting in quantum dots exhibiting special stimulated radiation luminescence properties. As the size of the quantum dot decreases, the band gap of the energy level increases, and the energy required for the corresponding quantum dot to be stimulated and the energy released by the quantum dot to return to the ground state are correspondingly increased, which is manifested by the excitation of the quantum dot.
  • the luminescence spectrum is half-height and wide and can cover the entire visible light region.
  • the size of the CdSe quantum dot is reduced from 6.6 nm to 2.0 nm, and its emission wavelength is "blue shifted" from the red light region 635 nm to 460 nm in the blue light region.
  • Quantum dot materials have the advantages of controllable wavelength of light emission and half width and width.
  • the existing application technology of quantum dot materials uses color light-emitting layers made of quantum dots with different light-emitting wavelengths instead of color filters in current liquid crystal display devices.
  • the film can solve the defect of the blue LED plus the yellow phosphor on the spectral distribution and improve the color gamut of the display; however, since the color luminescent layer is generally disposed at a position close to the outside of the liquid crystal display, the external natural light excites the quantum dot. Therefore, the contrast of the display is lowered in a bright environment, and there is a possibility of color shift.
  • the color illuminating layer replaces the traditional color filter, and at the same time, a single light guiding film is disposed on the light emitting side of the liquid crystal display panel, so that external light cannot enter the liquid crystal display panel to excite the quantum dot material to emit light, thereby avoiding the quantum dot being excited by external light. Problems such as reduced display contrast and color shift.
  • the present invention provides a liquid crystal display including a liquid crystal display panel and a backlight;
  • the liquid crystal display panel includes an upper substrate and a lower substrate disposed opposite to each other, and a liquid crystal disposed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate Floor;
  • the upper substrate includes a first substrate, a color light-emitting layer disposed above the first substrate, a single light-guide film disposed above the color light-emitting layer, an upper polarizer disposed under the first substrate, and a first alignment film disposed under the upper polarizer;
  • the lower substrate includes a second substrate, a lower polarizer disposed under the second substrate, a thin film transistor layer disposed above the second substrate, and a second alignment film disposed above the thin film transistor layer;
  • the color light-emitting layer includes a plurality of red sub-pixel regions, a plurality of green sub-pixel regions, and a plurality of blue sub-pixel regions, wherein the red sub-pixel regions include red light quantum dots having an emission wavelength of 610-650 nm, and the green
  • the sub-pixel region includes a green light quantum dot having an emission wavelength of 510-540 nm, the blue sub-pixel region comprising a blue light quantum dot having an emission wavelength of 410-440 nm or the blue sub-pixel region being a transparent material, the color emission layer
  • the red, green, and blue sub-pixel regions respectively emit red, green, and blue light under the illumination of the light emitted by the backlight;
  • the light emitted by the color illuminating layer can propagate outward through the single light guiding film, but the external light is blocked by the single light guiding film, so that it cannot propagate to the color luminescent layer to excite the quantum dot illuminating.
  • the backlight is a blue light source or an ultraviolet light source.
  • the blue sub-pixel region includes a blue light quantum dot having an emission wavelength of 410-440 nm, the backlight is an ultraviolet light source, and the red, green, and blue quantum dots in the red, green, and blue sub-pixel regions respectively Red, green, and blue light are emitted under the excitation of ultraviolet rays.
  • the blue sub-pixel region is a transparent material
  • the backlight is a blue light source
  • the red light quantum dots in the red sub-pixel region and the green light quantum dots in the green sub-pixel region respectively emit red under the excitation of blue light.
  • Light and green light the blue light passing through the transparent material in the blue sub-pixel region, causing the blue sub-pixel region to emit blue light.
  • the material of the red light quantum dot, the green light quantum dot, and the blue light quantum dot is one or more of a group II-VI quantum dot material, a group III-V quantum dot material, and a group I-III-VI quantum dot material.
