- BMC Baseboard Management Controller
- MDB a secondary management unit that communicates with the node BMC to obtain temperature information and heat dissipation requirements of each server node in the corresponding zone, and reports the above temperature information and the heat dissipation requirement to the primary management unit, that is, the rack management control Rack Management Controller (hereinafter referred to as RMC); and obtain the fan speed from RMC, send PWM signal to the fan control board (Fan Control Board; hereinafter referred to as: FCB), and finally control the speed of the fan in the corresponding area;
- RMC rack management control Rack Management Controller
- FCB Fan Control Board
- the unit is only responsible for the collection of information and the execution of control commands, and does not participate in the decision of the fan speed; it can be hot swapped separately.
- RMC a first-level management unit, which obtains the heat dissipation requirements of all server nodes in the rack through the MDB, calculates the target speed of the fan according to a certain strategy, and sends the determined fan speed to the MDB to control the fan speed; Can be hot swapped separately.
- FCB Each fan in the corresponding area of the physical bearer supplies power to the fan and transmits PWM signals. It can only be hot-swapped as a whole with the fan in the corresponding zone.
- fan (FAN) can be hot swappable.
- Fan area Each fan in the corresponding area receives the same PMW signal and the speed is the same. The fan in this area can be hot swapped and maintained with the FCB as a whole.
- Cooling area All fans in the corresponding area are responsible for the heat dissipation requirements of all server nodes as a whole.
- the method provided by the embodiment of the invention can ensure that the rotation speeds of all the fans in the heat dissipation zone are consistent, thereby avoiding the phenomenon of backflow.
- the MDB is required as a secondary management unit to indirectly collect server temperature information and transmit fan speed.
- FIG. 5 is a method for controlling the fan of the whole cabinet server according to the present invention. Schematic diagram.
- the fan speed that can be optimized by the default fan speed can meet the heat dissipation requirements of various server packages.
- the default PWM control signal of the fan is generated by the PWM generator.
- the PWM generator has not been explicitly set by the management unit after power-on, its default output "A" is determined by the hardware default setting.
- the above hardware default setting value can be set to a relatively large but not 100% running speed, and should ensure the heat dissipation requirements of all server packages.
- the first-level management unit can obtain the package type of the server node through the secondary management unit, and according to the heat dissipation curve information corresponding to the package type, the first-level management unit can determine that the first-level management unit is abnormal, and the second-level management unit The default speed of the fan when the management unit is abnormal or hot-swapped and the default fan speed is set to the PWM generator. Then, when an abnormality occurs in the primary management unit, an abnormality occurs in the secondary management unit, or hot swap maintenance is performed, the PWM generator can output the PWM signal "A" according to the default speed of the fan.
- the control method of the whole cabinet server fan provided by the embodiment of the present invention can set the optimal fan default speed according to the current server package type.
- the default speed of the fan can ensure the heat dissipation of the system, and reduce the total power consumption of the fan.
- the actual power consumption of the cabinet exceeds the rated power supply, which eventually leads to abnormal power supply and reduces the total power consumption of the system, thus increasing the deployment density of the server nodes.
- the hot plug maintenance includes a hot swap operation of the fan control board connected by the primary management unit, the secondary management unit, and/or the secondary management unit.
- the heartbeat monitor outputs "D" according to the input "C", and its logic is as shown in Table 2.
- the secondary management unit when the secondary management unit can normally receive the fan rotational speed sent by the primary management unit, the secondary management unit periodically outputs a first signal (eg, a heartbeat signal) to the heartbeat monitor to indicate The first-level management unit works normally.
- a first signal eg, a heartbeat signal
- the signal "D" is at a high level.
- the PWM control signal "E" of the fan will be set to "B", that is, the fan operates according to the fan speed determined by the primary management unit.
- the heartbeat monitor can determine that its input signal is the second signal (such as the signal shown in Table 2), and the heartbeat monitoring is performed at this time.
- the device will set the signal "D” to a low level.
- the PWM control signal "E” of the fan will be set to "A", that is, when the primary management unit is abnormal and the secondary management unit is abnormal.
- the fan will operate at the default fan default speed to ensure the system's cooling requirements.
- the heartbeat monitor can ensure that the signal "D" is low regardless of the cause of the secondary management unit being abnormal, such as the secondary management unit is not in place, but the software is abnormal or in place but not powered abnormally.
- the level can be used to ensure that the PWM control signal of the fan is switched to the PWM signal generated by the PWM generator, thereby ensuring the heat dissipation requirement of the system under abnormal conditions.
- the secondary management unit does not participate in the fan speed decision, and the management logic is simple and straightforward.
- the first-level management unit is used as a global management unit of the entire cabinet, and comprehensively collects the heat dissipation requirements of all the server nodes in the current system, and determines the fan speed according to the optimized heat dissipation strategy, and delivers the fan speed to the secondary management unit. The fan speed is actually controlled by the secondary management unit.
- the secondary management unit When an abnormality occurs in the primary management unit, an abnormality occurs in the secondary management unit, or hot swap maintenance is performed, the secondary management unit no longer periodically outputs a heartbeat signal, which causes the signal "D" to be low, triggering the fan.
- the PWM control signal is switched to the PWM signal generated by the PWM generator. This way, when the primary management unit is abnormal, each secondary management unit The reflow phenomenon caused by the inconsistent fan speeds of the fan zones caused by the main control speed can avoid the abnormality of the heat dissipation of some server nodes.

| D | E |
| 高电平 | B |
| 低电平 | A |
图6为本发明整机柜服务器风扇的控制装置一个实施例的结构示意图,本实施例中的整机柜服务器风扇的控制装置可以设置在一级管理单元中,实现本发明图1所示实施例的流程,如图6所示,上述控制装置可以包括:接收模块61、确定模块62和发送模块63;
其中,接收模块61,用于接收二级管理单元上报的二级管理单元所管理的服务器节点的温度信息和散热需求;
确定模块62,用于根据接收模块61接收的上述温度信息和上述散热需求确定风扇转速;

进一步地,接收模块61,还用于接收上述二级管理单元发送的上述二级管理单元所管理的服务器节点的套餐类型;
